This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Just read that there's a new Mary Jane trade coming out in February
, the selection of stories includes the first issue of "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane", Untold Tales of Spider-Man#16, Amazing Spider-Man Annual#19, the Roger Stern penned story from 2010's Many Loves of the Amazing Spider-Man one shot, and the fifth issue of Amazing Mary Jane where she took on the Savage Six.
It seems the trade is pushing the post-OMD status quo, avoiding stories where they were married and carefully selecting stories that focus on MJ's friendship with Peter and the BND premise of their eventual romance being a swing and a miss (the inclusion of "Many Loves..."), although the trade ending with the AMJ material is encouraging, as by that point they'd given their relationship another go. If this were ten years ago, it'd have ended on the "Many Loves" story.

One of the most laughable parts of this is that despite constantly trying to push away MJ as a love interest to the point of pairing her up with Paul, they still won't truly get rid of her because they know how popular a character she is.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"![]()
Oooh, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. That series was great. Mc Keever and Miyazawa made a delightful pairing.
Marvel should bring Mc Keever back, he did a lot of great work for them, even if none of it really burned up the sales charts.

Yeah. They’ve basically been forced to confront the idea that they can’t get rid of MJ because every prior attempt to do so — sending her to California, putting her on a plane and crashing it, etc. — was a miserable failure. But they don’t want to use her for pretty much her primary purpose. So now they’re stuck having her hang around but constantly breaking her and Peter away from each other while clearly hoping it will cause fans to dislike her and be willing to let them get rid of her, which it literally never will.
It’s such a prime example of how unnecessary all of this is. At this point, forcing the square Spider-Man peg into this round “young and single” hole has become far more work than just keeping him married and aging would’ve.

Just let Miles be the young spider man and Peter be the adult spidered man
Like how Clint is the old fuckup hawkeye and Kate is the hip young fuckup hawkeye
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpider-Editorial: "Okay, so Plan P for making the fans like single Peter didn't work, and we think it's because everybody hates Paul. So, for our next plan to cement unmarried Peter as the Peter and get everyone to stop demanding we undo our decision to have Peter sell his fan-favorite marriage to literally Satan, we're going to hook Mary Jane up with a character that we know the fans like, such as Shocker, Black Cat, or Batroc the Leaper."

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryProbably because I remember married Spider-Man. I had a good decade of Peter married to MJ and how she was always leaving him, fighting with him over her soap opera career, being presumed dead (it happened a lot), being separated, or nagging him about why he was ignoring her emotional needs.
Virtually the entirety of the marriage was one giant slob of misery.
Much like, "Gwen Stacy was pure and good Better versus snarky rich snob Veronica", Peter and Mary Jane's marriage being a happy awesome couple is an invention of the fans.

I want to make a joke about Cebluski having a different perspective since he's Japanese, but I'm not sure how to phrase it without it coming across as racist rather than a commentary about him pretending to be Japanese and still having a job.
Edit - Of course, page topper.
