This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

If not sooner he met Cap when Kang used a Spider-Man robot to try to kill the Avengers
They didn’t have much time to talk. Real Spider-Man just showed up, broke the robot, and fucked off
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI could have sworn there was a story where Spider-Man and Cap officially meet and it ended with Steve calling out Jameson and forcing a retraction on Spider-Man being a menace.
And ending up causing Jameson to shave.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"That was apparently from the Spidey book which wasn’t set in the 616
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don’t know of another example but I googled for Captain America forces j jonah Jameson to shave and came up with Spidey issue 10
It hits all the points. Mad about headline, mad at mustache, better headline after Cap gives Jameson the business

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think Cap's first encounter with Spider-Man after fighting that robot was The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3 where Spidey was offered his first chance at membership.*
Though both before (I think) were active in the 3rd Fantastic Four Annual when Doom had various supervillains trying to ruin Reed and Sue's wedding.
(*)Incidentally I hope for a What If? (Divided into three stories) where it showed Spider-Man succeeding at becoming an Avenger sooner. Basically stories following alternate endings for ASM Annual #3, plus Avengers #237 and 318.
A few 'leaks' are being shared on forums. As usual, they can be traced back to 4chan and are full of the usual grammatical errors and missing out key details in favour of the more 'sensationalist' bullet points.
One guy I know who gets his comics early on the weekend came down with COVID the other day so he can't fetch a copy to verify the leaks.
If the leaks are true, the issue may not be as depressing as we all believe it'll be and certainly would begin the road to recovery for Peter and MJ, but on the other hand It's setting up yet another Green Goblin arc for the finale of the run
Honestly, I’m so jaded that I’m fully expecting Paul and MJ to grow closer because of the Spider that keks to keep Spider-Man miserable.
If Norman does go evil again, I’m curious as to how it affects Normie in Red Goblin.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"That does kinda highlight why Spider-Editorial’s attempts to demonize or get rid of MJ fail so hard. Its like pushing a boulder up a hill because MJ has spent so long being Spider-Man’s girlfriend/wife and practically the Deuteragonist of the comic that any attempt to declare that she’s not actually his one true love or send her packing will go over like a lead balloon. And it’s made worse by Spider-Editorial’s willingness to have Peter “forgive” any other character’s bad behavior — even objectively evil ones — whenever they want to try and have a rogue turn face. I mean, for fuck’s sake, this very run has Peter treating the man who murdered both his unborn child and his first love as if they’re best friends and the Dan Slott run had him make peace with Venom, a character who’s entire existence used to revolve around tormenting Peter and his loved ones in ways only he could.
Any attempt to dismiss MJ or frame her as a bad person fails because it’s so alien to the comic’s very nature that it’s instantly recognized as such and revolted against.

In fairness, Peter just looking the other way for Venom has been going on as far back as marvel milking the money cow by spinning him off into an antihero

Forever liveblogging the AvengersTrue, but it just proves the point even harder. You can’t make the reader hate MJ by having her act like a bitch in one run and act like this justifies getting rid of her when you’ve for decades been letting characters like Venom off the hook for much worse acts simply because you think you can milk them. It makes the attempts to write out MJ look even more artificial, blatant, and forced than they already would.
They’ve tried character assassination, plane explosions, lost in another dimension, witness protection, turbo Satan
MJ can’t be stopped
Forever liveblogging the AvengersShe unironically really is. The character has long evolved past the Romantic False Lead that she was invented as and become, as I noted, basically as much the main character as Spidey himself. She’s become an integral part of the comic and any attempt to remove her is doomed to failure, which makes Spider-Editorial’s continued desperation to do so even more inane and pathetic. It’s literally Sisyphean “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a new result each time” tier stuff.
MJ can never be stopped no matter how much Spider-Editorial wants her to be because she is inevitable. Even attempts to dismiss her usually just end up cementing her even further as the only possible love interest for Peter.
Can we really feel any catharsis for this Norman getting beat up? Considering he's been purged of all sin, you might as well be watching a child that can't fight back get bullied.
To expand on this and my example, Felicia during her Queenpin phase almost killed Aunt May. When Kingpin did this, Peter gave him a humiliating No-Holds-Barred Beatdown in front of numerous witnesses and threatened to kill him if May didn't survive (so in a way, Wilson Fisk should thank Mephisto for his life). Logic dictates that Felicia should have lost a lot worse than a tooth for putting May in danger given how Peter feels about his loved ones, his adoptive mother especially, being in harm's way.

I haven't read Spider-Man yet (I will get around to it eventually as I have an interest in his supporting cast but I have never had much interest in the character himself even when I watched the old nineties cartoon) so I don't know how he is written there but I have seen some comments saying that her is written better here, good but still ruthless (early in the issue he was threatening to drop a Goblin Nation thug off a building as the goblin formula in his system would ensure that he survived, even if he would be in terrible pain).
Also, near the beginning of the series Norman was kidnapped and tortured by the Goblin Nation as well so he has been through the wars a bit in this series. He was also beaten up by Dylan at one point in Venom.

Question: What is the first meeting between Spider-Man and Captain America in the main continuity? The only one I know off the top of my head is in Life Story where Pete asks the good Cap about whether or not he ought to go fight in Vietnam.
