This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

And really, Paul is the tip of the Wells iceberg.
The run isn't helped by how Wells writes Spider-Man as being completely useless in a fight. Like, he almost got killed by freaking Vulture and had to submit when Tombstone tried to hug him to death.
He has to be bailed by Norman, the X-Men, even Kamala technically swooped in to save him from Rabin (the shaman mentioned earlier).
Speaking of Norman, character assassination is so rampant. Besides MJ seemingly being a thankless witch, Wells writes as though Norman is the one we should be rooting for when this is, you know, the book where we root for Spider-Man? And Peter's "relationship" with Black Cat is barely touched upon until, OOPS! Now they broke off because they're just going through the rounds! (I hate when writers treat women like trash.) Even in FCBD stuff, Peter's not safe because everyone craps on him for beating up a gorilla that was drugged by Kraven.
Side note: I wonder if Hickman was vying for ASM itself, but Editorial got clingy and Gollum-y with ASM and said "NO! Hickmanses can has the Ultimate Spider, yesss. ASM is our own, our love, our precious."

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryI am annoyed by the fact they gave Mary Jane kids and then removed then and acted like it was nothing.
Notably, they killed Donna Troy's kid and were stunned when writers acted like she was permanently traumatized by it.
Same with Roy Harper.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. This run will serve as an excellent case study of how ineffective good guys who never win and constantly suffer humiliations will lead people to preferring competent cool bad guys who are terrible people.
Look at the amount of people cheering Spoblin to kill Paul. It’s all so interesting to me.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Wanda’s children being fake was not to soften the blow and actually made the blow harder for her since the whole point was to completely retcon or undo every bit of her relationship with Vision and to make Wanda go crazy and do her version of dark phoenix
I suspect that MJ’s kids were revealed fake because they were a plot device and marvel is iffy about having more real dead kids in the spider book

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd even with Wanda's kids, they eventually went, "okay, they were sort of real and are definitely real people now".
Don't think this'll happen with Romy/Michelle and... whatever the fuck the brother's name was.
...Wait, did he have one? I genuinely can't remember. I also don't really care, so that's probably why I don't remember.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonShe did have some crazy at the time. She cut her hair and got a different costume and may have molested Wonder Man
It was a bad time
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAll the child murder:
- Donna Troy
- Wanda
- Roy Harper
- Peter Parker
- Black Canary (sent to a monastary rather than killed but only after a fakeout)
All of it is done because of fear of aging a character.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.@Redhunter 53 you literally just need to look at any wrestling program for that.
Heck Stone Cold's rise to the top was because he was the cool heel to Bret Hart whiny baby face that they switched sides as Bret snapped from the lack of respect fans were giving him and kept on beating up Austin after he won the Mania match.
Also with Donna Troy its mostly because her husband was a blatant self insert for writer/editor Marv Wolfman so future writers didn't wanna deal with the character or kids and just axxed them.

I see you too have been on Reddit.
I prefer Spoblin myself.
