This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I was wondering about that. The way everyone talked made it sound like he was a willing participant. But I suppose that shows just how little people care for Paul. Everything he does is viewed through the lens of being in the way of Peter and MJ and existing just to keep them apart....which is exactly what he is.
It was a mistake to make him for something like that. It's probably why I don't hate Paul (while acknowledging that he is in the way).
I don't even think there's any point in killing him. Like, right now he's more hated than most actual villains. People would celebrate, yes, but then what?
He's just....pointless. His creation was pointless, and his existence is pointless, and hating him isn't even worth it because he's just nothing.
A character should have a real purpose. Every character should. So that whatever happens, you feel something. Paul isn't even that.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh, I'm sure that would help both of them.
Carlie's another character who was so defined by in the way of MJ and Peter that all attempts to get people to like her bombed.
Even after she stopped dating him, everything she did became more fuel to hate her.
Having her apparently be the first person to realize Peter was possessed by Doc Ock over MJ didn't help.
They need to stop trying to replace Mary Jane, and let these other characters be something more.
The moment Gwen was killed to make way for MJ, it should have been clear that there could never be anyone else.
Edit: Whoops! I should have put a Sarcasm Mode pothole in that first sentence, because I obviously don't think it would help either of them much.
Both are already lost causes. Carlie has completely disappeared hasn't she?

One Strip! One Strip!I hate that excuse he unknowingly did it. I have seen people fried for less offenses with their "I didn't know X" excuse called out as bs because they were grown ass adults in positions of authority, expertise or responsibility.
It's just Paul the genius scientist on these runes trying to absolve himself of blame by appealing to ignorance.
The son of an otherworldly shaman who contributed to the genocide of his world's people and is all pent up with grief. Doesn't like to be bothered.
MJ got trapped with him in that dimension for years and they adopted kids together. Nothing romantic is ever shown on the actual page and only editorial ever say it's a romance. MJ is fiercely loyal to Paul regardless and chooses her family over Peter when he rescues her.
Oh, and then the kids are revealed to be totems chained to MJ and they are killed when the shaman returns.

Back in my day totems were poles or summonables in Warcraft also other definitions but they definitely weren’t fake children
Shouldn’t MJ Disassemble something now? Maybe a team?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd the kids were so boring and generic that the writer literally forgot one of their names, then awkwardly tried to spin it as "isn't it cute, the kid can't decide what she wants people to call her". When they were revealed to be fake constructs designed to chain MJ to Paul and disappeared in his arms, the comic tries to present it as tragic but it ended up being universally celebrated because the obnoxious brats were finally gone.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSo much for Spider-Man being more "grounded". The only good thing about all this...is that with all the magical constructs...time travel etc...the whole run could be erased easily. Just have Goblin Peter time travel and prevent his past self and MJ from being sucked through that portal. Poof...no Wells run. There's not like there’s a single thing worth salvaging....

Lot of characters accidentally doing genocide lately
Well, two
Buffalo Soldier from the recently reviled Black Panther run was tricked into doing a genocide but still felt morally superior to T’Challa after knowing him five seconds
