This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Agreed.
Though like I said, I won't be going so no matter what kind of questions I'd like to ask, the opportunity won't come.
One Strip! One Strip!Yes, I keep making big stinks about how not-great the Wells ASM run has been, especially the treatment made to MJ, but there comes a time where we need to pump the brakes and stop ourselves from speaking as though this case of bad writing will be what causes World War III.
This is that time.
Last thing we want is to be compared to The Eltingville Club. note
And as J.M. DeMatteis once said, comics are cyclical. As fast as it was for one writer to break apart Spidey, another one can build him back up just as quickly. We just need to sit tight.

It'd be a lot easier to stomach the whole "comics are cyclical" thing is a.) the stories were good, b.) the changes weren't so hamfisted, and c.) the way everything was done wasn't so meanspirited.
Fans can be assholes, yes, but that doesn't absolve the guys making and selling the comics from also indulging in dirty or uncouth behavior. You want young and single Peter Parker? Do the Ultimates line every 5 or 10 years. Don't swing a sledgehammer into the fan's nuts and then pretend like you didn't do it for the next 20 years while also vaguely implying you might apologize for it this time.
You want to bring back Ben Reilly as Spider-Man or have MJ be a hero for a short while? Don't lobotomize him or have her written out of character for the entire run, rendering our reactions to these fun temporary storyline completely negative.
See I'd be more willing to accept the "homework assignment" if guys like Slott and Wells weren't such trolls in interviews regarding their "creative choices" cleared by editorial.
So them saying it's the job they had to do comes off as shifting the blame after fans gave them shit for the writers' smart ass responses to their criticism.
Cases like Wells bragging in interviews with Lowe he'd have to avoid conventions for cheaply killing off Ms. Marvel with no build up. Or Dan Slott's entire Twitter account.
Compare it to Nick Spencer and JMS who were both very vocal about their distate with editorial with JMS requesting his name be taken off OMD be Quesada basically rewrote the entire story himself.
Maybe this is me because of my job (military) you can be the nicest guy in the company, battalion, brigade etc but if you suck at your job expect your annual performance review to reflect on how trash you are.

You a military man? I don't mean this in a rude way, but that certainly explains part of why you prefer Punisher Spidey.
But on that, I do agree that creators do have to accept some responsibility for how they handle said assignments, Wells was given the task of killing Ms. Marvel but how he went about it was pretty shitty.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Punisher Spidey does give me the vibe that the military would love him as a mascot TBH. He's got guns, willing to kill, has superpowers, is portrayed as effective in it, and retires peacefully(Albeit with some shadows in his future.) passing on the mantle to Frank unintentionally so the Punisher lives on.
That would make hell of a recruitment comic.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Marvel would never partner with the military for recruitment in this political climate especially with Frank Castle. Despite him resonating with most vets more than Steve.
Ironically enough The Punisher is more popular now than ever with the military and police because of how Marvel has basically thrown the character away to avoid controversy.
But back on topic I really don't want Osborn Sins Peter to put on that Goblin mask and Glider.
Just stick with the Black Suit to show he's gone off the deep end. It's simple, it's classic and as of late fits better with the black airforce 1 meme.
My TLDR summary of my opinion of Frank Castle's problems is that I don't disagree he makes an excellent fascist villain.
But you could solve most of the problems with him...by not writing him as a fascist.
Just a generic action hero.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. That's the problem with Frank he's an action film hero stuck in a comic
No one decries Rambo, John Wick or James Bond as monsters despite them stacking up enough bodies to fill a cemetery.
Heck with John Wick they make memes of how he can kill anyone if they hurt his dog. But Frank is the bad guy because comic writers love their villains too much. So they will break their necks to justify why Osborn or Joker (who Frank nearly killed one time) don't deserve to die for the graveyards they've filled.
In fact everytime I see Joker nuke a city or torture some poor soul. I will always say remember Batman saved this guy's life.
Jumping aside from Punisher debate #4789274, I’m very curious if Spider-Man gets a goblin costume.
Like he’s had costumes that evoke his other villains, like the Superior Soider-Man outfit he once used, so a Goblin outfit would be interesting.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Peter's next target is Paul
and suddenly this is my favourite issue all year
Cannot tell if this is an attempt to make us feel bad, or an attempt at giving us what we want.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yeah. They really need to cut their losses with Paul and give up.
Nothing they do will make him likeable.
Like, literally every thing he does (even if it's just staring up at the sky) makes people hate him more.
Evil Peter beating him to death isn't something anyone is going to be against.
One Strip! One Strip!

I wouldn't be surprised if at least one person behaved like the Q and A guys in this clip.
