This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I think if Slott had his way, the Renew Your Vows family would have been revealed as the real ones (remember the 'deja vu' tease during Power Play)
Yo, what?! You got a source on that?
Because I haven't heard anything about Wells and conventions aside from maybe a tweet saying he looked like a zombie in a convention.
Come to think of it, Spidey is kinda oddly tied with religion sometimes. Not as directly as DD obviously, but it sure has a lot of sin focus. Granted the concept of sin isn't entirely confined to religion, but "Spidey divorcing wouldn't be very Christian so the Devil it is, super Christian that guy" makes one go HMMM.
Targetmaster Joe: No link I can find just yet, just someone's word on CBR who attended the convention Friday. The bit about wanting to work on Electra or Wolverine did get retweeted though

I mean, the bit about wanting to write Wolverine or Elektra, I knew about, but the opting out after ASM #60, I didn't know. Although, if history has proven anything, maybe Wells needs to leave women alone, period.

Funny you mention "zero original ideas" because video essayist Implicitly Pretentious did a piece
on Across the Spider-Verse and it touches on how the movie takes some time to be a "take that" towards the Editorial and this excerpt just hits me in all the poignant ways:
"Zero Original Ideas" and "Derivative Dead Ends". Really hits a nerve, doesn't it?

Superhero comics are built on perpetual melodrama
1. I have a happy family. Dead now
2. My arch nemesis. Accidentally created them
3. Supervillain kills innocents. Lock him up and break out
4. My secret identity. Turns my personal life to crap
5. The love of my life. Fridged
6. Killing the villain. Agnst about it but lock him up again
Then rinse and repeat numbers 2-6 from the next writers run or 1-6 of you are doing a full reboot like the TMNT or New 52
Comics are fully set in their ways about how things should go that they actively sabotage their own characters growth out of fear for harming a "characters brand"
I.E. Joe Quesada as chief editor
Or Hell killing off Mayday and revealing Aunt May was still alive in the Clone Saga.
The tedium of current mainstream comics are likely one of the reasons the industry is in the shape that it is. How many times can readers see the same story beats repeated endlessly before they just get tired of it? They've made it clear that in the case of Spider-Man for one example...that nothing will ever disrupt the current staus quo. So if you don't like reading the eternal failure...you better watch the movies and play the video games.
Hence why Punisher!Peter is best Spidey lol
Because they will NEVER touch that version again unless The Punisher logo stops being associated with the alt right. Hence Peter retiring with Gwen Stacy is that characters end.
But in honesty it's why Sony's versions of Peter (Insomniac and Spiderverse are the most beloved versions now)
Insomniac is the powerful Spider-Man everyone thinks the character is (seriously he went through a damn gauntlet in that game)
Spiderverse is the old mature Peter that seen some shit but got his shit sorted out we all wanted the comics to end up like.
Cult of Carnage: Misery#4
preview
I love the inclusion of vintage comics panels for the flashbacks, but for some reason when they get to MJ's cameo they use new artwork to represent Spec#200

Somehow, it might be too generous. Because it's almost as if Wells is allergic to using MJ in any capacity.

Speaking of Carnage, I’m three issues into the new 2099 miniseries on unlimited and it’s just Maximum Carnage but future
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
thats pretty much it. carnage is now immune to fire, can teleport, and has a new version of the necrosword and is killing venoms from across the multiverse to absorb any rare quirks they have like a manias hellmark. cletus is now just a symbiote that takes human form and he tried to use iron man and orchis tech to take over everyone, but iron man destroyed most of him. and in the upcoming carnage ongoing they are gonna reunite
