This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Norman hasn't targeted Felicia like Gwen or MJ pretty much because Black Cat is more than capable of handling herself combined with the on again off again of her relationship with Spidey.
Hell Norman's done worse to Cindy Moon but that was collateral during the Red Goblin event and even then it was Flash that died. Silk just got put in the hospital with Miles.
I uh don't think he is. All indications are that venom and Kraven will be main villains. And Norman will be the big bad of the third game. So each of Spiderman arch foes get a shot at main villain.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."@FKJ 10 and @Charles Phipps
Okay, so I saw some leaks of the newest issue and there’s an interaction between Peter and Norman working in the lab that I think you two would REALLY HATE. So just warning you both not to read it and just hear the issue second hand.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Do you want a link? Or should I just summarize it?
Last chance, this might genuinely disgust you. I’m sorry for accidentally making you curious, but it legit might make you feel disgusted.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Okay so I’m going to do my best to deliver it.
Okay so basically, Peter and Norman are in a lab, talking about recent events. And then Peter talks about how he actually enjoys working with Norman, and that how Peter is reminded of how Norman used to treat him like a son. And that Peter thinks that dad Norman without the sins is the REAL Norman.
This is just WTF? Does Wells NOT know how these two met? This sounds like he only knows the Raimi movies.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Peter: "Norman Osborn isn't a good man gone bad, he's a bad man gone worse."
Zeb Wells: Ima pretend I didn't hear that.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonThe Spencer run literally had a moment where Spidey rebukes a repentant Norman and says he was NEVER a good dad.
Norman acting like a dad to Peter was never in the comics, only in the Raimi movie and some cartoons.
As others have pointed out, the last time Norman acted like a dad to Peter in the comics was when he tortured Peter for days to get him to drink the goblin formula. AFTER both men assumed MJ was dead.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Funnily enough, "Bad man gone worse rather than good man gone bad" fits the original Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, one of Norman's clear inspirations, far better than the popular perception of either character. It's become something of a "lost in adaptation" thing with both of them.

I’m still amused that Dan Slott might end up getting a critical reappraisal as other writers do worse
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAt least Dan Slott knows Green Goblin is Spider-Man’s greatest villain, not Doc Ock.
He had Gobby outplay Superior Spider-Man and star as the Big Bad of Slott’s final arc on Amazing.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I don’t actually care who Spider-Man’s greatest enemy is
Edit: I do think if the comics get too up their ass about who the real archnemesis is, it’s bad for the writing
I mean, I personally prefer Ock. Not as The Spider-Man villain. But because they don’t keep retconning in Otto orchestrating complicated schemes to drive Peter crazy
Clone Saga is hard to get over

Dan Slott likes troll the fanbase. His writing speaks louder than PR statements he says.
And Green Goblin did ultimately triumph over Superior. And it was Norman who was the main villain of Slott’s final arc, so he clearly knows it’s Green Goblin who is Spider-Man greatest villain.
I asked him to share the images, because I was wondering if I summarized it wrong.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The "greatest enemy" thing gets tired anyway. Spidey needs a rogues gallery with half a dozen villains who can compete for that title as a credible Big Bad.
Not least because if every run decides he has to face his single greatest enemy in the last arc, it gets dull and predictable.
This sin stuff is the dumbest shit
You can’t just say the real Norman is Norman without sins because these are choices he made. He chose to do bad things and they hardened him to do more bad things. Treating sin like it’s an external source of bad goo that makes people act bad against their true nature just pissed me off about the sin eater stuff and it’s pissing me off now
Good point

I vaguely recall Green Goblin fighting Black Cat once. Maybe it was Marvel Knights. Lemme check.
