This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Did Playstation Spidey tell him how terrifying Monster-Ock was, or was that a different Playstation Spidey?
Peter actually HAS beaten Quicksilver in a fight, in their first meeting. He was tough enough to take Quicksilver's hits, so Quicksilver resolved to run a circle around Spidey so fast it pulled the air out of his lungs. Spidey nearly lost to that, but he managed to stick his arm in front of Quicksilver's chest and knock him out.
Oh cool, my opinion was validated. Also cool, clotheslining the super speedster. A classic.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
x5 The Atoner is not inherently a better characterization or emotional basis for a story than a Villain Protagonist. Personal preference and all that but from what I know of both the original Superior Spider-Man and Gold Goblin they're trying to tell two different stories.
The problem with Superior is that it doesn't know what story it wants to be since it was running on the shock value. Like Dan Slott meticulously defended Spider-Ock's early actions and portraying him as someone who wants to do good when he does things like try to erase Peter Parker, spying on people, brutalizing criminals who have surrendered, and all the other shit, to claiming "Oh he was supposed to be the bad guy from the start to show you all that you all take Peter for granted."
Even though the story gives him a sympathetic send off and has Peter mourn his sacrifice. Which is bullshit.
I felt more for Norman Osborn in Gold Goblin in 5 issues than Spider-Ock in over 30 issues.
If we say both stories are about an atoning supervillain trying to do good, then Gold Goblin wins hands down.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Sounds like a move he's have pulled on Speed Demon. He must have gotten the idea from one or the other.
When did Spidey and Pietro ever fight?
One Strip! One Strip!Judging by how Magneto's early appearances went, he'd probably think Spidey is a mutant, try to get him to join the brotherhood, and they'd fight, with Spidey getting the upper hand briefly, forcing Magneto to flee. That happens in basically every issue until Magneto and Toad get kidnapped by aliens and the group disbands.
Did Erik not have anything similar to Cerebro back then?
Huh. Kinda makes the Wanda/Pietro retcon have a lot more teeth.
And I still hate that retcon.
Peter did take on Erik briefly during Acts of Vengeance, but the latter wasn't really serious, and the former can in the middle of the entire Captain Universe debacle.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh right. That was revealed to be a thing during the Big Time arc, wasn't it?
Max had met them years ago.
One Strip! One Strip!@lalalei2001: Nah, it was PS4 Spidey who met SpOck, not PS1 Spidey (not sure if they can legally use PS1 Spidey, what with Activision and such; then again, PS4 Spidey almost certainly requires Sony Interactive Entertainment's approval, and End of the Spider-Verse even brought in Atari Spidey). SpOck deliberately singled him out for recruitment during the second Inheritor conflict because that particular Peter was still emotionally dealing with everything that happened with his Otto Octavius in the PS4 game, even after the whole Maggia thing throughout the DLCs. SpOck figured that presenting PS4-Peter with a "heroic" Otto Octavius who became Spider-Man would make him easier to manipulate for his own purposes.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryHuh they recently released a new trade of the Senan Mc Guire Ghost Spider run. Man to think this was the last ongoing Gwen had in a while.
I never understood the whole point of interdimensional college. Why was Gwen even going to college in 616?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Because it gives her a chance to interact with other people from 616 and that's good.
Of course, the thing is that Gwen's life is permanently and irrevocably ruined in her own dimension due to being outed as a superhero and serving prison time. There will never be a normal life for her again.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. You know, I kinda wish Gwen had met 616 Matt now.
Imagine her reaction to finding out he's a good guy and one of Peter's closest Friends.
Imagine 616's Matt's reaction to learning he's that universe's version of the Kingpin....he is that universe's version of the Kingpin, isn't he?
One Strip! One Strip!Funny thing about Mephisto ruining marriages is his very first appearance ended with him forcibly separated the Silver Surfer and Shalla Bal, and he then conspired to put her on Earth, erase her memory, and have Doctor Doom marry her just to torment the Surfer. Her
history
is wild and I think she most recently became a villain
.
And apparently that version of her is a construct
and the real one died but they're close enough it doesn't really matter.
Thanks Mephisto. :P
