This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

The show must go on

Yes, it was probably for the best in the long run. But I wonder how it could have gone if Jean and Maddie had been allowed to meet in circumstances that weren't a Crisis Crossover where the latter is possesed by demons.
I have heard he was pretty possessive of the characters that fell under the X-Men banner.
As for Michelle....we'll see how it goes.
One Strip! One Strip!Thing is, at the time there wasn’t even an x-men banner - there was just Uncanny and New Mutants, and he was writing both. He wasn’t being possessive of how other writers used the characters, he was THE x-writer at the time. I can totally see how annoying it would be to then have a spin-off announced which took major characters like cyclops out of his hands, especially if it involved directly contradicting the status quo he’d set up.
There are later instances where he got overprotective, but I understand this one completely
Part of it was due to the fact he DID have plans for Cyclops and it was aging him out.
Basically, he would be a part-time X-men and mentor while semi-retired from superheroics to show the passage of time.
Which brings us back to Spider-Man and how this is apparently a disease across comics.

Fair enough
Also Fair enough.
Funny that Cyclops eventually got married (twice) while Peter has been continually stymied on that department, especially when you remember that they essentially started at the same time.
Peter's actually around the same age as the OG X-Men.

One Strip! One Strip!Mind you, I owned the original "Jean and Scott get married issue" from the Nineties.
And that, of course, was utterly smashed up.
So Peter just has the worst of it but by no means the only case. Wolverine, Storm, and every other X-men has been married or near married.
Colossus and kitty? Kitty destroys the poor guy ala The Wedding Singer.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters."What if it ends up as a consensual polyamorous relationship between all three of them?" Sadly, Marvel does not have anywhere near enough guts to do a story with an explicitly poly relationship. Scott/Jean/Logan, from what I understand, has been mostly subtext, even if Hickman was basically hanging giant arrows pointing to it. But Spider-Man? Not a chance.
"And the thing about Claremont's temper tantrum?
It made for some good storytelling." Some good, sure. It was also where the Jean/Logan ship entered the comics, and I fucking hate that ship. It was not present in the original comics prior to Jean's death. He had feelings for her, yes, but it was clearly one-sided, and he pretty quickly moved on to Mariko. But then Claremont had his tantrum and decided to retcon in this raw animal attraction between Jean and Logan, and no, that was not a thing.
At least with Scott and Jean, the marriage ended because Jean died, rather than through a deal with the devil. Logan is also widowed.
And Kitty leaving Colossus at the altar was one of the best parts of Guggenheim's utterly execrable UXM run. Anyway, she should be getting together with either Illyana or a regular human girl.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Kitty obviously got tired of dating all the Peters.
And yes, I count Ultimate Kitty dating Ultimate Peter.
From where I stand, it will always count.
One Strip! One Strip!Illyana and Rachel are gonna have that face off for Kitty's hand one day.
Just you wait!
Edit: Dammit! You all keep making me forget this is a Spider-Man thread.
Anyway....Did Peter ever use Ben's impact Webbing?

One Strip! One Strip!Krakoa is an orgy island. They can also just get married
Just like Peter can’t
Boom, cycled back to the original topic

Forever liveblogging the Avengers"Rachel and Kitty, dammit!" Rachel's with Betsy now, and from what I've seen they're really good together, and Tini Howard put in the work on that relationship. So, Rachel can stay with Betsy.
I actually do really like the idea of Kitty ending up with a completely normal person.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Well, they had Moira....but that went down the shitter.
What happened to Stevie Hunter?
Angel used to have Candy Southern as his long time girlfriend. But then Cameron Hodge murdered her.
I think there have been others but they've come and gone.
Edit: And again I say, stop making me forget this is the Spiderman thread.
Since we're so obsessed with X-Men, then here comes an in context question:
Peter vs the original Brotherhood of Mutants line up (Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Toad, and Mastermind).
Who wins?

One Strip! One Strip!Beast had a human girlfriend but he was quite the bastard boyfriend so I imagine it was a relief when he dumped her by pretending to be gay

Trish Tilby. There had an on again, off again thing if I recall. Even went with them into space one time.
Anyway, putting this up again:
Peter vs the original Brotherhood of Mutants line up (Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Toad, and Mastermind).
Who wins?
One Strip! One Strip!I mean Peter against even original recipe Magneto wouldn't go over well.
Peter could solo the original Five X-men but Magneto would stomp him as would Mastermind.
Weirdly, Peter versus original Scarlet Witch would be fun as that was like the early Black Cat fights.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Mastermind and Toad are nothing Peter hasn’t fought before and a lot
Scarlet Witch, even brotherhood days, is more difficult because bad luck is one of those really difficult things to fight against. See also, people that Black Cat screws with
Quicksilver is difficult but Peter’s spider sense and own agility is enough that I believe he could win.
Magneto though is a ridiculous beast of a guy to fight, even for Spider-Man. One of Peter’s weaknesses is having his spider sense overwhelmed and Magneto can throw enough shit to do it
Put them all together and Peter will have trouble. I think he could still pull it off because he’s good at fighting groups but Wanda and Magneto could easily turn the situation against him
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Technically, the third.

Between that comment, her having hooked up with Johnny, Matt, Flash and Thomas, her having flirted with Ben and even her comment about MJ's ass, and the subtext of her relationship with Cindy, Felicia seems determined to sex up everyone in Peter's life. Maybe she'll go after Aunt May next.
I'm a sucker for well-written stories of villains turning to heroes. Otto changing his ways via The Power of Love wouldn't have been a bad way to write him of the story as an enemy of Peter. Heck, I even thought that was how he was going to go in Life Story.
I feel Doc Ock's character development in Superior volume 2 and his meeting with Playstation Spidey were great ways to turn Ock into a hero.
Though amusingly, despite the absurd premise, I found Gold Goblin to be a much better written villain turned hero since Norman actually is guilt ridden and haunted by his sins compared to Ock who spent most of volume 1 being a Villain Protagonist.
