This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

There's a lot of apocryphal stuff that's supposedly attributed to Ditko like why he left the books or that he was against Norman Osborn being the Green Goblin.
So I take that quote with a grain of salt.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I get that it lead to Miles, but I'm still bummed they killed off Ultimate Peter since he was exactly what Editorial wanted, a young unmarried Spider-Man who could have that romantic drama.
Even when he revived, they didn't do anything major with him.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Or whether true ignorance or just preferring Gwen, there is the attempt to suggest that from a cynical standpoint that compared to a supermodel, she is the girl next door.
Nah, she is still again going by the cynical viewing still a wish fulfillment gal. And the one to make the moves first only to be spurned by Peter (Not really as he was occupied with Aunt May's health). Before that having Liz and Betty arguing over him.
Was MJ a model when the love triangle was between her and Gwen?
I thought that didn’t happen until after college. It’s not fair to say that Gwen is more girl next door when she died before choosing a career.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhat has he done that has hurt the character of Spider-Man itself?
If anything he's had his team be extremely respectful to the character and his supporting cast.
While Marvel Comics have done nothing but repeatedly dog and humiliate Peter repeatedly you think they hate the character.
To play a bit of devil's advocate (oh, stop laughing), Arad's screw ups are much more publicized while most people outside of comic circles have never even heard of One More Day or this current storyline by Wells.
Heck, even here it's like that; I made a Paul joke in the MCU thread a few days ago and multiple people had to ask what I meant. The movies are leagues more interacted with than the source material by the general public.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonAdaptations have the advantage of being able to take the original comics storylines, see what worked, see what didn't, incorporate what did, and either tweak or exclude what didn't work in the comics. Or just tell stories that carry the ideas, themes, and names of certain character, but changing the plot altogether.
For example: Judas Traveler. In the various adaptations and remakes of the Spider-Man's most infamous storyline, the Clone Saga, how many times has he appeared? Because as far as I know, he hasn't. If you have a clone storyline, chances are you'll see names like Miles Warren, Ben Reilly, and Norman Osborne, but a name you'll never see is Judas Traveler. Because Traveler was a character even the writers at the time didn't know why he was doing what he was doing.
So when it comes to deciding what is put in and what is cut out, the handlebar mustache mystic is the first to go on the chopping block.
And he's, like, super scummy. He's a mutant himself, but he believes mutants have become arrogant in the Krakoan Age and has decided that he's the only one qualified to feed them some humble pie for their "own good." Which he accomplishes by doing things like using literal small mutant children as false-flag suicide bombers. Seriously, that's a thing he did.
-looks at Magneto declaring himself and the other mutants the new gods of the world- Well, he has a point about the arrogance but he's still an asshole.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mean he's a psychologist illusionist. There's a lot of room to go there.
(He was originally another Reality Warper god-wizard and, oddly enough, that's boring)
But Spider-Man doesn't need Judas Traveler when he has Mysterio.
OTHER heroes would be lucky to have that sort of asshole.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.

Maybe even earlier, IIRC Ditko himself said he regretted moving him out of high school? Maybe apocryphal though.
