This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Stevetain America's new run could have been so good if it hadn't been for the larger even-more-secret-conspiracy-to-outconspiracy-all-other-conspiracies plot.
I get what its going for but it came at the expense of the lower key stuff.
As for Miles, I'm not keeping up with his books and don't have a preference for who he date. As for Peter, I'm not keeping up with his books because I have a preference for who he date

They got back together because Carol's dumb time reasons were dumb.

It's like half a joke.
Honestly I was and still am ambivalent on Miles x Gwen.
As Marvel really can't decide whether Spider-Gwem is her own character as they keep dressing up 616!Gwen in her costume.
This latest what if dark just exasperated the problem.
As to this day 616!Gwen has just been used as two things
1. An agnst device for Peter
2. His "true love" who he can never get back or get over to this day.
Now the Spiderverse movies avert this issue as Peter there has long since moved on and by the second movie has a happy family with MJ.
Heck they can't decide if 616!Gwen died hating him or not now.
Slott flipped flopped between Superior Spider-Man having Gwen welcome Peter into heaven with open loving arms
To Clone Conspiracy her last thoughts cursing his name
To now Wells in Judgment Day back to loving and even accepting him trying to reform her killer (Seriously screw that)
Well yeah because they took the time to show how drastically different the two are.
And honestly yeah at this point just revive 616!Gwen.
The current writers keep going on about how she's Spidey's true love and how he'll never be truly happy without her.
So just revive her (and kill Norman off for another 20 years minimum)
Write her as well as Mark Webb did in TASM movies which gave her new popularity and let Peter be happy for a change.
She'd just be seen as another obstacle to Peter and MJ.
Gwen's been gone too long, and I don't think she'd work as a love interest anymore.
Especially since Marvel seems to be against Peter having a Love Interest in the first place, so she'd just end up spinning her wheels.
One Strip! One Strip! That's only if you bring her back as a Love Interest.
I liked the Gwen Stacy, Girl Detective comics.
There's plenty of other things to do with Gwen. Make her Peter's best friend, a Shipper on Deck, or other vital member of the cast.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. They actually considered reviving Gwen after OMD but didn’t go with it.
Clone conspiracy revived her if you buy the Jackal’s claims, but then she dies again.
Honestly, I’m in the camp that she was boring after Ditko left and MJ was always more interesting.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah, Gerry Conway even noted it.
Doesn't help that Miles Warren as a creepy older man is the stand in for toxic fans/editorial who wanted to bring Gwen back keeps staying relevant as a metaphor.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Frankly Marvel doesn't have a leg to stand on about Spider-Man and "moving on" as they've admitted multiple times they will keep Peter as 20s, single and perpetually miserable for "relatability"
True moving on as I said before is Spiderverse Peter as he's seen it all, done it all and now trying to he a good dad.
So until Marvel editorial get over themselves on making Peter relatable constantly reviving his dead villains and reversing his love life back to zero I will still say this.
Revive Gwen Stacy or stop brining her up every new run to make Peter depressed.
Now they bring up Gwen Stacy to make Norman depressed.
Though it was Gerry Conway as a writer who made that theme of moving on in the Clone Saga, and it's Marvel as a company that can't move on which is delicious irony. Heck, Gerry Conway worked on Renew your vows for a good number of issues.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I mean, the point is, Gerry Conway still wrote a series about Peter being a dad and having a daughter with MJ and that's moving on. Shipping wars aside.
Contrast that to Zeb Wells Spidey, and...EVERYTHING in the run.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Growing up in the late 2000s and all of the 10s, I tended to just read the classics in addition to some of the new stuff. I REALLY did not like the Brand New Day era.
But my jam was still Ultimate Spider-Man by Bendis. Yeah it hasn't aged well in some regards, but it's a pretty definitive Spider-Man series for me.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Whenever I hear "hasn't aged well" I think of explicit gore, sex or blatant WWII comic era racism.
Only to be disappointed it's something banal like the Wolverine and Peter body swap story. Yeah it was creepy but compared to the rest of the Ultimate Univsrse it's mild.
Plus it got adapted into the Ultimate TV show.
Or Deadpool being a mutant hating racist.
Either my tolerance for controversy is high or the bar for what is acceptable drastically went up after the early 2000s to 2010s.

Also, Miles's current girlfriend is also a superhero, she's just a Miles character first so she doesn't get her own book or anything.
