This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

He should get a new nickname. He doesn’t have a lot to be happy about anymore
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHis nickname was supposed to be ironic.
In the comics, Happy rarely even smiled originally....or so I once read.
One Strip! One Strip! How old is comic May? She looks like the crypt keeper but has it ever been explicit how old she is?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don’t feel for him no because a lot of people react with disgust when they’re confronted with their parental figure being considered attractive or having a sex life
It’s usually a sign of immaturity.
Now if May is uncomfortable with it, that’s another matter. And depending on what is said, which I don’t specifically remember, it’s not something you should be saying at all no matter who you’re saying it to

for What If Dark: Spider-Gwen are out. In this timeline Peter jumps to save her and catches her, but the Goblin cuts his webline and he dies when his head/neck hit a corner of the bridge. Gwen revives in the water and tries to rouse him, taking his mask off, but he's already dead.
Then she lies to the police/everyone that Peter was also kidnapped and jumped in to save her without mentioning his secret identity, keeping Spidey's mask for herself and the costume at the bottom of the river.
The panel of Spidey's costume is meant to be haunting but I kept getting distracted by the cute fish in the river XD

The Protomen enhanced my life.Conway returning to the moment that made him as a comic writer (and the character he sacrificed to make that happen) is gonna be really interesting.
Peter jumping down to save her is interesting, since the original implied he wouldn't have made it if he'd jumped down. But Conway wrote it, so is he now saying there was another option that Peter missed in the heat of the moment?

It's not really a sign if immaturity when it's the people he meets who are the one's aggressively mentioning how pretty she is.
That's not something anyone ever wants to hear about their relatives but Peter has to deal with creeps constantly asking him to tell his aunt to call them.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It really mainly works as a meta-commentary on "ha ha, the decrepit old lady from the comics is young and hot now" rather than anything that makes sense to anybody actually living in 199999.
It's pretty much the "superheroes don't solve real problems" take applied to Adaptational Attractiveness. The fictional characters don't really have any context to make a big deal out of it.
I mean, I'm not arguing that Marisa Tomei isn't hot, but the big deal the characters themselves keep making about it doesn't make a lot of sense from their perspective.

Agreed. The worst is Tony in Civil War telling May that she's too young to be an aunt, which is completely nonsensical and only works if you assume she's an old lady which no one in universe would assume because 50 (Marissa Tomei's age at the time of filming) is a normal age to be a teenager's aunt.
That's fairly common flattery. "You're too young to be the mom, you must be an older sister" style of thing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think that has a lot more to do with wanting, for some god damn reason, to use elements from One More Day and to get a parental figure dead on screen saying a thing about responsibility.
I seriously do not think they went 'well we've made all the hot aunt may jokes we care to, lets fridge her.'
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNo Way Home is an enormous hatchet job on MCU Spider-Man that killed all unique elements of Tom Holland's version to make him as like the "stereotypical Barbie, I mean Peter" as possible.
This includes, "Peter's choices kill Aunt/Uncle."

Maybe if the next movie changes things, but MCU Spidey is not in a place to sue anyone, he doesn't even exist anymore.
