This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Yeah there's a difference between not telling a partner all of your past, and hiding the fact you're a supervillain who attempted to mass murder the planet and are currently puppeteering the corpse of the super hero who repeatedly foiled you.
Also this is the Spider-Man thread, not Superman thread, but Lex Luthor pretending to be his own son and sleeping with Matrix Supergirl IS rape by fraud.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Back in Real Life, rape by deception has been applied due to impersonation, due to not using claimed contraception or concealing an infectious disease, and to people concealing their gender.
It's not a thing that applies to previous convictions or not-yet-prosecuted criminal activity. A serial killer who has consensual sex without mentioning he's a serial killer has no case to answer on those grounds.
So Otto impersonating Peter is grounds for rape by deception, Otto being a murderous scumbag... probably isn't.

The costume is still fly, but the back of my mind is still groaning over this direction.
And did anyone notice these covers are referred to as "second printing" variants? The comic isn't even out, so this tells me they really are spamming the concept of second printings...
Holy crap
Just read the October Marvel Solicitations
JMS is writing Spider-Man again! (a guest appearance in Captain America)], and he's gonna tackle the Sinister Six!
And Zeb is kicking off a massive 24-part story in October also, with Peter 'at his darkest'

that make me wish I was wrong.
Turns out Peter really is going to be his own villain. Or at least be the New Goblin. And in other news, I don't want to live on this planet anymore. So thanks, Zeb Wells.

So, Peter, filled with Norman's sins? Option #1, he overcomes them because he's Peter, and better than Norman, a reveal that probably breaks Norman and sends him spiralling back to madness. Option #2, Norman takes them back to save Peter. Either way, I see the original Goblin in the future again.

You know. I think the idea of a role reversal between Peter and Norman as hero and villain could be interesting tbh. You know for an elseworlds comic. It's baffling to do that for a mainline one
Tbh. I feel like this maybe what actually happens. Where they keep Peter a bad guy for a bit to milk it

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I continue to really hate the commutative property of sins that Spencer’s Sin Eater had.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThis reply
mentions it could be like Revenge of the Green Goblin only this time Peter did drink the serum.
In hindsight, Norman becoming a...well, "Not bad guy" means it's only natural for Peter to become one in his place.
Kinda wonder what moniker Peter will take. "Spider Goblin" is a bit on the nose, but we're running out of colors for Goblins.

#IceBearForPresidentNorman can take as much goblin juice as he can...it's not what made him the Goblin, it was because he was EVIL
And do I detect a wee bit of Superior coming out of Petey?

I find the concept interesting since the characters being mirrors of each other has been thrown around a lot, but the execution worries me.
The Protomen enhanced my life.![]()
My theory: Peter's tentacles have a copy of SpOck's personality/memories in the artificial intelligence and is gradually seeping SpOck back into Peter. But then that probably contradicts the upcoming Kraven arc and the inevitable Goblin-Spider arc.
Okay, maybe Peter getting Goblin'd isn't a bad idea per se? But I'm also worried about the execution. Like, I cannot in good conscience trust Zeb Wells with any ideas at this point...

....you know what?
I think we all need to calm down.
I get it. I really do. But everyone is gonna drive themselves crazy if they keep letting this get to them.
I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and think about puppies or something.
One Strip! One Strip!

I think not telling her that makes Otto a bad boyfriend, but people can have relationships with others without disclosing their entire past.
My hangup is that I don't think that learning information that would make you not want to sleep with someone retroactively makes the previous encounters bad. Adding fantastical elements kind of hides the fact that this isn't that much different than someone who lies on a dating app or something.
I've never seen Lex Luthor pretending to be his australian son and dating Supergirl get as much pushback as Otto did when those stories are pretty similar.
