This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

There's also Screwball. But I think that's more thanks to the game than the comics.
Both came out back in a time when Obama was recently elected president. Damn.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Oh I get it @Red Hunter 53 I grew up with the Raimi movies, the 90s animated series and Spectacular Spider-Man.
Norman was great there...but it was all just adaptations of Norman from his original run.
When I read the comics I realized quickly. I don't like this character post Lee/Ditko and Romita Sr/Conway.
To me Post Death of Gwen Stacy Norman is just a worse version of The Joker. As all my problems with the Joker are just more pronounced with Osborne. Except the fact DC is willing to give fans some catharsis by having versions of the Joker die. Usually by Jason's, his biggest victim's, hands.

Jason killed the Joker twice in the Death of the Family Animated Adaptation and 1 of the 3 Jokers in the Three Jokers story.
Plus if you wanna stretch it the DCAU Tim Drake is basically Jason in and he killed Joker in flashback during the Batman Beyond movie.
Basically DC acknowledging yeah Joker is a monster and deserves to die but we can't have Batman killing him....outside that one dream Injustice Superman had of what could have been.

Speaking of decades old concepts, I'm surprised they didn't try to give Peter a Sidekick that is a spider. Not a Spider-themed superhero, but like an actual spider, which is presumably super intelligent.
It would at least look cute sitting on his shoulder and talking to him.
Princess Petra has a spider sidekick called Webster, so a variant of Peter has one.
The Protomen enhanced my life.@Cortez.
I mean, that's a prize for basic decency, since Doc Ock also did shit like spying, superhero brutality, sexual assault, and identity fraud as Superior.
And that's relatively minor to trying to burn the planet out of spite.

Frankly Superior Spider-Man made me question why doesn't Peter use the tracking devices or drones he's made in the past to monitor the city at convenient times so he can focus on his personal life
Sexual Assault: The only thing I can remember is Otto trying to seduce MJ but it failing horribly because his idea of romance is old fashioned ballroom dance and theater. Doubt any comic book writer would legit write a villain raping a love interest after DC's "Cry For Justice"
(Hell I remember Superior revealing Otto actually slept with Aunt May during that wedding story to Ghost Peter's horror)
Superhero Brutality: Their vigilantes not cops. Just say you don't like Otto killing criminals like Punisher, Moonknight or Spider-Man Noir.
Plus identity fraud is really redundant as the entire point of Superior was Otta body snatching.
Really the most famous act of villainy Otto had to his name before Superior was accidentally killing Captain Stacy.
Even the "nuke the world plot" only had consequences in Spiderverse with Spider Unlcle Ben showing its fallout.
Then the movies overshadowed that by making Otto a much more tragic villain which carried over to NWH.

....How much do you read of Superior? Like those drones he makes are invasions of privacy, he actually uses them to invade people's homes, and there are people who are legit disturbed those things spy on them and then destroy them.
And did you forget that beatdown of Screwball and Jester? That is superhero brutality, and all those other guys like the Owl, or that one vampire thing. Like he tortured the guy way beyond the level.
When I say BURN the world, I'm talking about the ends of the earth storyline. Do you know about it? There's literally a story over how he ended up giving a little girl brain damage because of the heat.
And the sexual assault thing is him sleeping with Anna under a fake identity, that makes him a rapist.
And dude, seriously stop making disingenuous assertions about why I'm disagreeing with things like superhero killings. Doc Ock as Superior was not heroic at all.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah, Doc Ock explicitly stated he wanted to kill 98% of the world so HE would be remembered as history's greatest monster.
And it's implied he was going to do the mind switch trick here before Spider-Man pointed out the flaws in his calculations.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Like I said a million is a statistic I expect a comic book villain to hold a city, nation or the world hostage with a doomsday device.
I don't expect them to break into the super hero base and rape the wife of a hero who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Kill their infant child out of pure spite then mock them for it.
The Venture Bros pretty much summed up what counts as good and bad arching
I mean, Doc Ock did a LOT of personally shitty things as well.
I'd say killing someone after stealing their life is pretty personal.
Plus remember, Doc Ock used Peter's body to have sex with a woman who didn't know who he really was.
