This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Eh, there's always another timeline for that. As with New Universe, 2099 and (probably) Ultimate, if they want to play with the setting again, they'll just create a new Alternate Universe or Alternate Timeline where they can portray it slightly differently.
Spider-Man in a cyberpunk dystopia and fighting against a corrupt government is a story concept I'm quite fond of.
I've got a soft spot for Spider-Man Unlimited for this reason even if the show is....that.
I love the costume.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I gotta say I think a hate mob is one of those times where its perfectly okay to hurt people.
Who cares if a bunch of murderous bigots get hurt after all?
Most AU's do involve him dying, like the Flash Thompson became Spider-Man universe, where while Uncle Ben survived Aunt May got cancer and Peter was accidentally killed by Flash.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He doesn't even need to fight back
He can just leave
He's got super speed
Webshooters
Can stick to surfaces
He doesn't need to be anywhere a hate mob can access
In the comic, though, the random civilians are apparently capable of breaking his web lines and holding him down. It's not just OOC, it's utter BS
Marvel have published a behind the scenes retrospective on Secret Invasion
, at one point during the early discussions between editors and writers, there was a vote to determine if Gwen Stacy would return, the one who died revealed to be a Skrull, the votes were tied so Dan Buckley voted against it TWICE, which annoyed people.
Gwen has to he the biggest case of sellers remorse for a characters death.
They won't officially rez her like every superhero 6 months after death.
But here are:
Gwen's clones that are slowly degrading
Gwen's clone children w/Norman courtesy of Mephisto (Epic Prank Peter)
Alternative Universe stories where Peter is married to Gwen.
Younger Gwen from an alternative universe where she's Spider Woman
Gwen's perfect clone that died hating Peter and admits she would have lost to MJ
Gwen brought down from Heaven to judge Peter (Pretty awkward with Gold Goblin flying around now)
Like just bring her back or stop finding new ways to torture Peter with her memory.
@28555 That reminds me of a What If? blog where they had a running tally of issues where Spider-Man died or not.
More often than not, he did.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Someone on Twitter made a great point
that the Zeb Wells run could be salvaged if it showed how much Peter loses himself when MJ isn't in his life because we've seen Peter with his own Goblin Glider and now we've seen him using Otto's OG tentacles in this newest issue.
Heck, didn't the Spencer run have a whole thing where Peter admitted to needing a reason to take off the mask and MJ is that reason?
Too bad editorial seems a little too near-sighted to even consider going that route.
Problem is we've seen an alternate Peter that staright abandoned MJ. Giving up the man in favor of the mask.
Assassin Spider-Man, and he made quick work of his rogues permanently after joining with Wolverine and Shield.
So the complete opposite of Zeb Wells can't fight his way out of a paperbag Spider-Man.

That is exactly the type of idea that will give the anti-MJ crowd the perfect ammo. There are people who already think all MJ is good for is worrying about Peter's safety and whining about the problems him being a superhero brings to their lives. Having Peter go Injustice Superman because he lost MJ won't salvage this story, let alone endear MJ and their relationship to those opposed to them. It will allow people to argue that she is an albatross around his neck.
I can't help but see the irony as MJ was supposed to be the "fun" alternative to Gwen.
Wbo was written as a stick in the mud at best and a hysterical women over Spider-Man at worst by Gerry Conway before killing her off in favor of MJ.
Now we got editors insisting on how restrictive MJ is to Peter's fun life as Spider-Man and constantly keeping them apart in favor of the "fun" Black Cat.
At this point Spidey's next love interest is gonna be even crazier when the writers decide Black Cat is no longer "fun".

There goes any cool stories of Spidey trying to survive the sentinel future.
