This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I think he probably had plans for Peter and MJ to resume dating in Spider-Island since he was originally intending to start Superior immediately after, but had to be convinced otherwise so they could celebrate an anniversary issue with it.
Don't blame fans for taking him at face value. That's kind of shitty.
I'll disagree with Slott understanding the appeal of Peter/SM. I don't think he understands the character well at all, given the way he writes Peter as a manchild and how little I remember his civilian supporting cast in Slott's runs.
I read all the big time stuff a while ago, and find myself thoroughly unimpressed. I just felt he was constantly setting things up, then skipping the payoff to foreshadow the next thing coming, over and over.
I remember some of Slott's supporting cast. For the first few years he put a focus back on Peter's friendship with Betty, and at the same time Peter had a cop roommate and the cop's sister, and one of them framed him for murder.
The most successful of them were probably Max Modell and the horizon labs crew, Modell even made it into one of the cartoons.
He was hugely popular from what I've heard. Chris Claremont too, although he was kinda fraying at the edges by the time that he was forced out.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think the controversy with Professor Hulk has more to do with the retcon that he's just another Hulk personality, instead of being Bruce Banner and Hulk truly merged into one being.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think a true fusion between hulk and banner should be smart and sophisticated yes, but also still angry constantly and hungry for smashing, which is clearly not professor hulk, professor hulk just acts as banner's on hulk's body, rather than feeling that they fused together it feels like he killed the savage hulk personality.
I liked how Hulk was portrayed in EMH.
Basically Savage, but capable of speaking full sentences, and still having a lot of cunning.
He also once rattled off a scientific principle, proving that all that genius is still in there, he just doesn't need it because he can literally smash the crap out of anything under the sun.
He knows exactly what he's doing.
One Strip! One Strip!EMH Hulk is basically Professor Hulk the opposite way. Banner agreed to let Hulk be in charge 99% of the time and freely provided his smarts.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo he's okay punching dudes doing who steal a TV but he'll passively sit back and let himself be hate crimed by a mob that will definitely go onto hate crime again. Your priorities are skewed, Peter Q Parker. Fuckin dumb.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell two things one I like the Professor Hulk character and thinks it's a natural conclusion to the character Banner able to come to terms with the anger issues that made him create the Hulk split personality as a child and move onto become a better version of himself.
Second I hate that a bunch of random New Yorkers were able to kill Peter without him putting up a single fight. Like at least make it more realistic.
Say the King Pin using his corrupt government connections got some sentinels and the sinister six to jump and kill spider man
