This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

If nothing else, if Marvel really wanted to bring 616-Mayday back after Across the Spider-Verse made her a fan favorite among people who weren't already aware of Spider-Girl, I'm sure they could easily retcon her back to life.
For example, a time-traveler (for fun, let's say it's Miguel O'Hara) steps in, snatches baby Mayday from whichever of Osborn's lackeys had her after Peter and MJ were falsely told she was stillborn, Osborn gets a bogus report that the baby has been "disposed of" because Clone Saga!Norman would have been all "You have failed me for the last time!" if he knew the truth, and then suddenly in the present, Peter enters his apartment to find baby Mayday very much alive in a basket or something with a note explaining what happened and why it had to go this way (read: doing it this way derails Mephisto's plans for 2099 or something and it handily averts time paradoxes). Basically how Mayday survived in the Marvel Comics 2 universe, but swapping out Kaine with Miggy.

Yeah you made the Ninja joke back then.
God, it's been so long since 2019. I still remember being hyped for Endgame and MCU Peter.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Mangaverse Spider-Man is a ninja from a clan of ninja
He also teaches MJ to be a ninja so she can join his adventures
Venom is also a ninja. And I think Kingpin too.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOn its best day mangaverse was so wacky
On it’s worst day… yeesh.
Anyway Venom being an anime asshole older brother is a fine use of your Venom

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHave you seen Venom in the PS 1 game and Spectacular? He's perfect as the asshole older brother to Spider-Man, he's got that energy.
"Parker hates it when we get the drop on him."
"I hate it when he gets the drop on me."
"SPIDER WUSS! COME OUT AND PLAY!"
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"@Charles Phipps this is Peter "I have no life insurance" Parker. OMD literally just said all of Peter's and MJ's stories happened just removed wife and swapped in lover.
Which makes Kraven's Last Hunt extremely funny with this retcon as it was all about Peter's fear of making MJ a widow.
“God I couldn’t stand it if MJ had to go back to dating! If my death forced her back to a single life! A good h- boyfriend would never put someone through that! Dating!”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly what has Peter actually accomplished in a post Joe Quesada era?
Seriously all he's gotten was
A love interest everyone disliked in Carli Copper because Joe Quesada creepily modeled her after his own daughter.
Body Stolen by Doc Ock
A love interest that everyone disliked in Silk because Dan Slott was way too horny at the time
Multiple Spdier Verse crossovers one where his alt universe daughter shits on him for being a disappointment (She's kinda right given later context)
A company that Doc Ock made that he quickly ran into the ground because Captain America went full Nazi.
Norman coming back again and killing Flash.
His doctorate revoked because Otto technically plagiarized his own work in Peter's body (seriously couldn't Otto have just referenced himself in his thesis)
Found out that Gwen didn't cheat on him with Norman but it was just another elaborate prank by Mephisto to fuck with him (He really is becoming Peter's reverse flash.)
His clone brother being revived twice only to become evil twice
His greatest enemy (the man who murdered his wife, brother, infant daughter and friend) becoming a good guy because of sin erasure and now working for him. (Seriously Marvel wtf)
Got back together with MJ only to be cucked by a combination of writer self insert and a D list villain being given the biggest plot armor since 90s Wolverine.
Kamala Khan dying for him.
Now in a will they or won't they with Black Cat who stopped being evil and made up with Peter. (It won't last)
All while still struggling for money while living in a run down apartment.
Peter's life has become a cruel sitcom.
It's Always Sunny in 616 Marvel.
Yeah, this is why I don't really care much for 616 Peter. Heck, I find Gold Goblin Norman to be a lot more interesting, which admittingly isn't saying much.
Fuck, I'm just going to reread some good Spider-Man stories. Maybe Gerry Conway RYV.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Biggest problem I see also is that Peter's treatment is based on hazy nostalgia of the Lee/Ditka era.
Which if you actually read all Lee/Ditka stories, there are plenty of occasions where the angst was minimal and the character had some conclusive happy endings (All of ASM #2 and the end of #3 for early examples). And yeah even if Gwen wasn't a supermodel, she still would from a cynical perspective being just as unobtainable. Yet she was the one trying to get him to notice her for example.
But no, writers who favor the bleak moments tune out his unironic successes just to claim him as a loser (Slott specifically saying he was like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football countless times).
Plus just the fact that any writer who thinks his youth is the most important thing makes him out to be a Ben 10 type kid (Even the mainline comic where he is a legal adult). But if you look at Amazing Fantasy #15, Ben and May think the world of him and his teacher is shown to respect him. Not exactly the details that apply to "Damn kids and their wrap music!"
.
"Parker hates it when we get the drop on him."
"I hate it when he gets the drop on me."
"SPIDER WUSS! COME OUT AND PLAY!"
I played the N64 version a lot as a kid. It was probably my first exposure to Spider-Man, and definitely my first exposure to Venom.
So yeah, I definitely love it.
My dad wasn't a fan of Venom in the comics but loved him in that game. he's so funny XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.To add bit of hope.Marvel editorial as got to come to its senses at some point.I mean look at how other mediums are handling Peter.People are getting use to seeing a older, stable, more put together Peter Parker.
Eventually the high up are are going to notice and want that reflected in the actual books.

"Oh god why did Norman raise her to be a Ninja?"
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
