This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Renew Your Vows is so tricky, in regards to X-Men canon it pretends a lot of the 2000s didn't happen, it's hard to pinpoint where exactly in canon RYV diverges from even though the Clone Saga happened. The JMS era might not even be canon to it because RYV Peter claimed he didn't previously have experience with Morlun or the Inheritors during Spider-Geddon.

Ehhh, can't win em all.
At least the Spider corner of the world is better.
Funnily enough, Gerry Conway DID NOT want to write the shit with the X-Men but had to because of Editorial.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Do Spider-Man comics suffer from too many retcons? This video seems to think so, criticizing recent Spidey comics for being constantly retconned and the character feeling stagnant:

Like the 2018 video game has the guts to make a permanent change and kill off Aunt May, the comics would never do something like that now and if they did, she would be back within a year.
Edit: Also I am having trouble embedding videoes, which is why I just posted the link.

Well with Cyclops he's cheated on Jean with Emma and fathered Cable with Madelyne then quickly abandoned both once Jean was resurrected. Dick.
So my sympathy for Scott who literally pulled "daddy went to get cigarettes" on baby Cable and Madelyn goes down the drain.
The movies though oh absolutely Scott was done as dirty as possible.

Jean also has stuff like letting Fantomex go because she’s hot for him
They’re all terrible people
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI've not read much of the comics, but like half to two-thirds of the main X-Men seem like horrible, irredeemable people based on the stuff I've heard about them in passing.
The only ones who I don't hear doing bad things are like Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Kitty Pride, Collosus, and pretty soon Kamala Khan.

Nah its never framed as a sexual assault unlike with Nightwing or Invincible it's straight up Cyclops being caught with his pants down inside Emma's mind by Jean.
Who was also making out with Logan earlier.
So yeah all three are kinda shit people.
While ironically enough Emma is Cyclops' healthiest relationship.
The anti Black Cat as Jean is that bad as an MJ to bring this conversation back to Spider-Man.

It's a love square, not a love triangle. Cyclops was with Emma Frost for the better part of a decade. Albeit, now I'm wondering if she's going to be with Cyclops while married to Tony Stark. If anyone is okay with an open marriage, it'd be him.
Credit to Namor, he wasn't the sexual aggressor and Sue Sorm wasn't a victim. Sue Storm left Reed to live with Namor because she felt emotionally abandoned. It was also after Reed put Franklin a coma without consulting her.
It wasn't adultery, it was a formal separation and her taking up with another man during it.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters....Would it be cheating to say Sunflower or What's Up Danger for Miles?
It's the same decade at least, only a seven year difference.
By the same logic I guess Peter gets the 67 cartoon theme.

Closest you got to that besides Renew Your Vows was the What if The Civil War Never Ended story.
Peter by the end loses his powers along with all the heroes and Skrulls but he's finally reunited with MJ and his daughter who he didn't erase to Memphisto.
Cloak accidentally nuking NYC tends to throw a wrench into the let's make a deal with the devil plans.
