This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Mephisto: Remember when you were making out with Felicia and you came right as she touched your leg? You actually made out with me, disguised as Felicia. And I used magic I don’t have to explain, to jerk you off at super sonic speeds so it looked like you nutted at just my touch.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I guess I'll be the outspoken voice in that, while it's certainly a leap compared to the good old days of Spider-Man, the idea of Mephisto becoming an overarching antagonist for Peter in a post-OMD world could actually work? Thematically, the demon that organizes his portfolio around bringing torment and misery would _absolutely_ lock onto the guy who's got such infamous luck. And that it just so happened to allow a connection to a set of Spider-Villains that, coincidentally, didn't already get claimed in the Totem stuff established before! (Also you guys are really gonna say that this shit was out-of-character for either Norman or Harry as if the Clone Saga alone was not a monument for how low a Goblin can go, come on.)
The funny thing with that guy is that before then, he was a joke in the cosmology of Marvel: his whole bit was that despite having a all that power and menace, he was always on the losing side of match-ups and could never break his status quo as the would-be ultimate tormentor. Silver Surfer constantly vexed him, Black Panther punked him out, and his one notable win before this against Dr. Doom - another villain who'd arguably be appropriate to torment - still found a way to overcome him! This guy was the loser Satan that most anyone could tackle just for bragging right... until he got his win.
Not just any win - no, he got to win against marvel's flagship hero Spider-Man, undoing a relationship that was basically Marvel's answer to Superman & Lois! And admittedly for a while, it meant nothing. Marvel tried to brush it to the side, pretend it didn't happen, and convince the audience to please pretend that they didn't absolutely assassinate the dynamic of their leading couple for their franchise. But eventually writers started to realize that, mind-wipe or not, Mephisto would *absolutely* hold this as his crowning jewel of villainy, get the chance to screw over *other* Spider-Men by connection, and taunt the audience that he's at least partly aware of that 'Yeah, they let me win! I ruined the best comic they ever had, and I'll NEVER get punished for it!'
I won't say that OMD was a good decision at all, but that's happened now, and we've been under it for so long that pretending it just didn't happen would feel like an entire betrayal to fans of the book that liked stories that came after it. (Yes they exist, don't get cute) And really, don't you just hope that One Day, when whatever is holding back the book from tackling this (hard copium for the #1000th issue), you can have the couple who've had the worst luck imaginable for their romance get to punch the incarnation of Misery and Torment to finally get their Happy Ending?
Mephisto shouldn't win because he's the embodiment of evil in a Tolkien-esque sense.
He's a corrupt, nasty, Evil Is Petty little thing.

Kaine is the member of the Spiderfamily that has crawled upwards the most. From the mad stalker that tormented Peter and Ben Reilly, to the guy trying his utmost to protect Houston and keep Ben on the straight and narrow. It might just be that Kaine is the least likely to take any deal from him, regardless of what position he's in.
Also he has Aracely and she's like the human incarnation of Huitzilopochtli or somesuch. That might be a reason.
I keep seeing conflicting details about what happened with Stromm. Didn't the original story state he was embezzling? Was Norman framing him a retcon?
Stromm just borrowed money without permission and intended to pay back and Norman knew this.
BUT being Norman, he decided to have Stromm arrested and pretend he didn't expect Stomm to pay back. I'll get you the panel.
EDIT: Here you go.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Borowing money without permission from a business account is still embezzlement, I think
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, Stromm assumed that Norman would understand it was just borrowing and would pay it back.
He thought it would be one of those crimes that the victim would understand, he didn't actually expect Norman to twist it into a malicious type of embezzlement.

features Arana, and cameos from Mayday and MC 2 Peter, Anya restored Peter to normal and he helps his daughter kick Kingsley's butt
Didn’t she steal Mayday’s body and try to fuck Black Tarantula with it?
Not cool if true
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
I recall that, yeah. Anya was an ex-lover of Black Tarantula in the MC 2 universe and pulled a 'Superior' with Mayday to try and seduce and kill him. She ended up revealing Mayday's identity to Tarantula when she tried it, but Tarantula somehow was able to see through this deception and could tell it was Anya and they had a fight.
Anya later encountered April Parker and eventually agreed to give Mayday her body back. She made a few more appearances afterwards where she gradually fell in love with the Tarantula again and they eloped
