This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Ironic, since Sins Past happened because the initial idea got vetoed and JMS went with a horrible back-up plan to preserve the set-up that had already been done.
So I'm pretty certain someone is going to eventually try to retcon the AI Mephisto twin thing and end up making things worse or stupider or more confusing when their initial idea is blocked by editors.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
He's a bad man made worse by the Goblin formula as Peter notes in Romita's first issue.
Like he was a neglectful dad who DID try to bond with Harry by spoiling him but it's clear he was emotionally distant, and there's that stunt with him framing Stromm for embezzlement.
All before getting the Goblin formula.
JMS could have easily made them clones by Norman made just to fuck with Peter.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"You could argue that, sans Goblin Formula, Norman would be the bad in The Good, the Bad, and the Evil. The Good of course being Pete and the Evil literally being Satan, I mean Mephisto.
Problem is, like with ol' Scratch now being tightly welded to the Spider-Man continuity despite how no one wants him to, Norman is just...too evil. Norman will always be associated with his Goblin days. He's already basically the devil given the amount of evil shit he's done. Even having Norman pull a Diabolico and be the last guy in a mosh pit of assholes dragging Mephisto into a pocket universe of being punched in the nads still wouldn't really feel earned. Norman isn't a Noble Demon, he's just an asshole and we've never gotten any reason to believe he won't be one again one day.
Mephisto is bored and just wants to fuck with Peter would have been an appropriate answer to OMD.
But him being scared shitless of Mayday is funny.
Frankly I don't mind the Kindred Saga because it gave me this Punchline
Norman thought he blew Gwen's back out but just fucked Mysterio in a blonde wig.
Literally family guy
Frankly at this point Zeb is making me beg to bring back Dan Slott's Inheritors, Silk's pheromones and evil Black Cat. At least that Spidey wasn't taking constant Ls, working for Norman "I killed your girl and unborn child Osborn" and creepily holding onto Ms. Marvel's mask post mortem

It's weird because Norman Osborn was legitimately crazy only to be gradually retconned into a horribly awful and evil person normally.
The worst things Norman has ever done is as his evil businessman persona.
