This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

@Saiga
Honestly, I've been enjoying bits of his run a LOT more than the main comic.
I actually prefer following Peter's and Norman's antics more than Paul and fridging Mr. Marvel.
Not that it's saying much.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Textless preview of "What If Dark...Spider-Gwen?"
It's almost as if you can tell what parts are Conway and what parts are Houser.

I'll be 100% I don't have faith Gerry Conway will write Gwen effectively.
Given he famously referred to her as a nothing character then killed her off because he preferred MJ and Peter together and he couldn't kill off Aunt May for shock value at the time.
It's asking Jim Starlin who wrote "A Death in The Family" and hated Jason to write a what if Jason lived but Bruce died story.
Ironically Jason was a Gerry Conway creation but very different at the time.

Doesn't help Gwen went through a lot of inconsistent character changes.
Then again, Gerry Conway HAS changed a lot as a writer since the Night Gwen Stacy died, and while he doesn't regret killing her off, he does regret starting the fridging trend the story started.
So I think he'll give writing this version of Gwen a fair shot.
Yeah, Gerry Conway isn't spiteful and he has a lot more free space to work with the concept of an anti-hero Gwen Stacy.
And I'm speaking as someone who HAS read the old stories and found Gwen utterly boring and insufferable at times.
R.I.P. John Romita Sr.
Damn great artist.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Agreed.
I am curious to see what Conway could actually do with Gwen now that he's actually trying. If he did one good story with her, he can do another.
Though I do think it was a bit of a mistake to kill Gwen. Considering how dead set Marvel is about not letting Peter marry, the best way to keep him out of a committed relationship might be to keep Gwen around as another option, but that would also require a lot of Character Development for her as well.
It would also require Felicia to not be around (though Felicia doesn't really seem to be a serious contender).
One Strip! One Strip!Doesn't help they kept fucking up Gwen Stacy's chances to be a better character.
Like that time she supported Sam Bullit's Law and order campaign and is NEVER seen going against him, to the point she spends most of the story hating Spider-Man and supporting Bullit, as we discussed way back.
When JAMESON got a moment where he got pissed at Bullit for being racist and scum.
If Peter had to marry, it def was MJ who was the better option between her and Gwen.
At least MJ has depth and consistency, Gwen couldn't compete.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah. I've often said that I think Stan was so hellbent on making Gwen Peter's girlfriend that he didn't really think about making her a character.
In contrast, in his efforts to make Mary Jane seem like she was out of Peter's league, he ended up making her far more interesting with all her different hobbies and shit.
Hell, Mary Jane even technically predates Gwen, since the former had been referenced as far back as the High School days (with Liz and Betty meeting her, but the audience never getting to see her face). That kind of build up is hard to fight against.
One Strip! One Strip!Spider-Gwen is basically an entirely different character from classic Gwen Stacy and she’s far more popular.
Granted, Marvel still doesn’t know what to do with her besides more Gwen Stacy cosplaying copies.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"

I dunno why but it sounds like she's blaming Peter for it.
