This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Yeah an issue of JMS Spider-Man was my very first comic I bought.
It was the story of Peter being a teacher and learning he arrested the older brother of one of his star students as Spider-Man.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"To me Norman Osborn has become the symbol of Peter's inability to grow up.
Aunt May passes on peacefully? Nope an actor
Mayday born? Nope put on a bus never to be mentioned again unless in that one timeline Uncle Kaine saves her
Also he kills Ben Reiley along the way.
Peter has illegitimate kids? Nope they're Norman's now because pre marital sex is bad per Quesada
Symbiote!Peter might finally kill Norman for all the pain he's caused him? Nope we need him for future stories he know thinks he's Cletus Cassady.
Now look where we're at Peter in now working for the man who caused him all this suffering. The man who killed his daughter because editorial got cold feet is now his boss....
You can never convince me keeping Norman around was a good alternative to Mayday in 616.
No, no, Norman never killed Mayday. Peter undid her with his deal with Mephisto.
:)
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Mayday is double gone. Kidnapped and or made still born by Norman when Peter and MJ were married then erased from existence via Mephisto because Peter didn't egg Dr. Doom on enough to fix Aunt May's bullet wound.
Seriously all Peter would have to do is say Reed Richard's couldn't save May and Doom would have made the old woman into a cyborg granny.

Apparently Good Boy Norman has mentioned Mayday so even in the revised Mephisto’d timeline, she was conceived and probably born
And is probably dead since Good Boy Norman hasn’t returned her
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI remember that time where he helped write one moment in time which explained "See, to me, the reason I wanted to get married was to have kids. If that's no longer a part of the equation, then marriage is just a piece of paper."
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Didn't Quesada have a real nasty divorce before writing OMD and as a result develop some major hangups about the idea of marriage in general?
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSins Past could have been improved if instead of full grown Gwen and Harry expies, the blast from the past was a tiny ninja Mayday, trained to murder Peter for abandoning her
I mean, at the very least you don’t have the contrivance of Gwen porking Norman or somehow concealing a pregnancy. Although I guess that’s moot now but we wouldn’t have had to have Kindred shit if it was Mayday to begin with
Probably. But it is likely that she would eventually have been retconned into being a Space Phantom for some reason
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhole storyline build up to the idea these are Peter and Gwen’s kids and he’s like no that’s impossible why didn’t she tell me and then it reveals they’re Norman’s kids and Peter is like OSBORRRRRN and the last page he receives a note that says “lol jk u mad?”

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI come not to praise Caesar but to bury him. In this case, Quesada takes the fall for One More Day but the hatred of Peter marrying MJ has existed among the editorial board for decades. It's why the Clone Saga was created and was one of several attempts to undo it that got reversed by fan backlash. Some of it also has weird motivations like a desire to have Peter bang more women....which the writers really obsess over.
I think everyone literally assumed that would be the case as it was similar to a Vulture/Harry Osborn plot. Later, it was retconned to being one. However, the weird thing about Sin's past was that it aged Peter more than any other plot in his entire history.
Peter being a father of a one-year old? HE'S TOO OLD!
Peter being old enough that when he was dating Gwen, she had children old enough to now lust after Peter himself?
That's fine.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Retcon or not, I always liked Ned Leeds as the Hobgoblin because it led to some interesting other retcons. Like the fact he was college friends with Wilson Fisk and helping him out with the Rose business.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. There's a good argument that Inmates Running The Asylum is part of the issue.
Spencer likes writing MJ and Peter because he's my age and remembers them married.
Guys slightly older remember Peter and Black Cat.
And so on.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.See I wouldn't have minded the original Sins Past where they are Peter's kids.
Gwen gets pregnant after a broken condem unsure about her future with Peter, they were having an up anf down relationship, scared at the prosoect of motherhood especially with her dad dead and quietly gives the kids up for adoption. As she feels she or Peter aren't ready to be parents.
Heck in this scenario you wouldn't even need Norman or some annoying Gray Goblin. Just a heartwrenching story of a man connecting with the kids he never knew he had.

It's less premarital sex and more having kids out of wedlock. The BND era was much more explicit about Peter having sex than just about any other time. Having "masks on" sex with Black Cat is great as long as they use protection.
When I think about how both Gwen and Felicia almost had Peter's kid(s) and MJ actually did have his kid, I wonder what they would have done if Felicia actually went further with the idea of Felicia getting pregnant. Would they have made Morlun the father or would the kid get abducted by Trapster?

First nah Quesada has gone on record saying he was uncomfortable with a story dealing with Peter and Gwen having unprotected or careless sex out of wedlock.
Second with Felicia being pregnant I'm going with Insomiac Spider-man. She'd never fully admit to having his kid or using it as leverage to play Peter for a fool to help her steal shit. If this is classic I only love Spider-man Felicia.
