This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

MJ witnesses a murder and gets protection programmed to some square state despite her protests
And then she just goes back to NY and never mentions it again
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah not fond of Doc Ock reincarnated as a cute Japanese girl would rather see more of ITSV!Peni Parker actually liked her more than her comic counterpart.
Mostly because......never a fan of Evangelion so Comic!Peni being a whole reference bored me.
Always more of a indomitable human spirit than indifferent cruelty of the universe kinda guy for my scifi.
So always preferred mechas like G Gundam or TTGL
Plus Peni in the movie smacking scorpion with his own limb after he destroyed her mech was awesome.
My issue with movie Peni is that she's a bad parody of anime.
As in she's not really homaging or parodying anything actually associated with anime, instead coming across as a reference to those terrible "How to draw anime" art books that's usually done by people who've never seen an anime in their life.
At least comic Peni is a reference to actual stuff, there's even some Ghost in the Shell jokes with her. There's more substance to the design than a bunch of very archaic cliches the movie version has.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well Noir and Ham at least feel like parodies of the genre.
Peni is more that lazy shallow parody of anime that every show already makes. It's not a parody of anything, just this very bland idea of what anime is like to a person who hasn't seen it.
Plus honestly the comic design for the Sp//der mech is way cooler than the ball robot from the show.
Wait a minute, she's a Marvel Mangaverse throwback. It all makes sense now.

On one hand, it explains Why they could never reveal Paul's last name or give his last name to the kids
Oh, and we get an explanation over How Paul punched Peter as Peter has known who Paul was since before the run began...turns out Peter DID punch Paul first, and Paul punches Peter here when he confronts him over being the Emissary's son. MJ knew all along too, understanding his guilt and pain, it reminds her so much of Peter, so basically the only reason she's with him besides the chains is because she hasn't truly moved on from Peter at all
And if this wasn't dumb enough Mary Jane goes into a Bezerker rage when Rabin reveals the children were just pawns and destroys them, Mary Jane decrees that he must die and uses her powers against him recklessly

Isn't this the second time MJ has dated a guy who was a Replacement Goldfish for Peter? At least when Peter dates someone else, they're different from MJ.
Fans love MJ, and a segment of the writers hate her because they want Peter to be cancelling dates to go do spider man stuff and then to walk sadly away from the camera bemoaning about What Doing The Right Thing costs him
Also ideally they want various women fighting over him
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMJ, Gwen, and a bunch of lesser love interests move into Peter’s apartment. How will he juggle being spider-man while not earning their ire by existing?
Find out on the next episode of No Need For Spider-Man
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I didn't like it in Ultimate, but I think it was fine in the PS 4 game, it was necessary for that one to work, I guess.
I think MJ as an actress is a much better fit, though, and because the career of a struggling artist goes up and down, it means you can have a bunch of angles with it.
I was also a really big fan of MJ's short lived solo book where she worked on that movie with Mysterio, it was pretty fun.
