This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Throw an octopus in there and you have Spidey's three most iconic villains in one.
So, I think some of us are dissatisfied with things.
And with how Marvel seems to be doing things, it's going to be a long time before things change.
But I've let myself get bitter about things a bit too often. I'm going to see how things play out.
Kamala will come back, and hopefully, Marvel will learn from this and not do it again.
Eventually, someone will catch a clue that Peter's current status quo is just not a good idea and put the marriage back, and let him grow up.
Like, look at the X-Men. A few years ago, getting almost completely genocided was their regular status quo. Now we have Krakoa, which has changed things for the better. Krakoa may also not last, but I expect it to have a long term effect on how the X-Men are written going forward. Just going back to and then Mutants are almost wiped out again will seem trite.
I'm hoping Spider-Man is the same way. After maintaining a non marriage for so long, they will eventually realize it's a dead end, bring it back, and probably never mess with it again.
....And now comes the moment when I realize that if they really want a young hip Peter....they could have had that with Ben. If they weren't so dead set on making Ben a villain, they could just do a redux of the Clone Saga where Peter marries MJ and rides off into the sunset, while Ben becomes the un-married Spider-Man they seem so hell bent on.
The answer is right there. This is a chance to do it well, they just need to realize it. And someone probably will.
Or I could be totally wrong and they'll either fail to realize it, or they do realize it, but insist on ignoring it anyway.
One Strip! One Strip! They want the "real" Peter to be the main Spidey. There's no way they would let Ben take over.
They only allowed it to happen back in the 90s because they "revealed" Ben was the real one and Peter was the clone, then they had to hastily change things because of the outcry.
So we're stuck with the status quo of Spider-Man.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!".....we all know why they will never let Miles become the main Spider-Man in 616 universe to let Peter be semi retired and happy with a wife and kids
In the games and movies (which are better written) yeah Miles can take the natural progression from student to master.
But comics he's stuck being Peter's not!sidekick while his teacher is stuck in arrested development.
And frankly he should be looking for hero advice from Iron Man.
Like Miles was kidnapped for a month by this robot that was running experiments on him....Peter never noticed this despite literally operating in a neighboring borough from Miles.
Iron Man did and defeated the bad guy.

In fairness, Iron Man noticed because he asked Miles how he was doing and Miles mentioned all the stuff about getting kidnapped. And Tony was like excuse me, I need to go do a violence
The takeaway is that Peter should ask Miles how he’s doing more often
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm going to be fair to Peter and assume he was neck deep in villains and never got the chance to ask.
Like, by the time he had the opportunity, Tony had already beat the guy up.
One Strip! One Strip!Still Miles went missing for a month .....you'd think Peter would notice his partner just disappeared and wasn't patrolling his part of NYC. Not even a single text of "Hey Miles you gone on vacation or something man?
Like Batman for all his faults notices immediately when one of the Robin's go missing.
Not a fan of that at all
But that's ignoring that when the trope comes up,it's usually in a situation where being in a dangerous situation is out of the pregnant person's control.

I think a big tragedy with Peter Parker is he has a very obvious role to play in the Marvel universe, the "not really a mentor but also kind of a Big Brother Mentor"-role.
Hear me out. Peter was, IIRC, canonically one of the first independent teenage superheroes. He's always been fiercely independent as a hero and kind of prickly when it comes to team-ups. He's the perfect guy to serve as a kind of hands-off mentor to some of these kids, who'd probably resent an adult trying to dictate how they live, how they should fight, and whether or not they should be heroes.
Peter? He's not going to try and make them do anything, he remembers being in their position. He's the guy more willing to lend a helping hand and some advice but not push the issue.
What I'm saying is I really liked Spider-Man and the X-Men and while Peter doesn't need his own team of sidekicks, and arguably shouldn't have, he should be the go to guy for corralling groups of superpowered youths away from doing the dumber possible things they could do.
He did do pretty well in Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Less so when he taught a class at Avengers Academy as I recall. He did end up helping them, but they all decided he wasn't a great teacher, but a good hero.
But yeah, Peter does have a unique position as one of the earliest teen heroes along side the original 5 X-Men. There's quite a bit he has to offer to them in fact.
One Strip! One Strip!I think the Avengers Academy kids were skeptical in the classroom but when they say him in action they became fans
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's not ignoring that, because we haven't seen any evidence that Drew is being forced into battle here. She certainly isn't acting like it.
It also wasn't really the case in the comic Drew was pregnant in either, she was choosing to continue crimefighting despite being told to stop.

Of course, goblin symbiote heroes are all the hot fuzz nowadays.
