This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

People only make a fuss when the Spider lady's drop these poses.
Typically gets the her poor spine sarcastic comments.
Funny enough when Frank Cho drew Spider-Gwen in the pose the creator got so mad he called out Cho on the instagram
Cho responded.....by making more sexualized poses selling them at conventions and having Spider-Gwen pop up and say "Outrage".
Really boosted Cho's popularity.
Proving once again comic fans are horny no matter how many time the industry tries to rebrand itself and move away from the old 90s hypersexualized outfit era.

There’s definitely a horny core
Which is part of why the big two have trouble growing their audiences
Marvel does decent when it publishes material for the scholastic demographic but most of those customers aren’t jumping over to the main marvel stuff
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNeck is less twisted though
Also, the mask. So he’s not making pouty lips at the audience. He should be but Peter is rude like that. Never pulling his weight

Thing is Marvel and DC want to appeal to everybody nowadays.
Back then super hero comic were the boys only club. Hence why they were shameless in every female character looking like a cover girl.
Every girl looked like MJ pretty much. Heck MJ became Peter's love interest because Romita Sr kept drawing her hotter than Gwen. Who Stan Lee even admitted that while Gwen was the proper nice girl for Peter to settle down with MJ was the firecracker.
Manga/Anime has specific demographics. The most popular being Shonen will and always be for young boys 13-18 sometimes bleeding over into the 18-34 demographic when the series goes on long like One Piece.
....The creators aren't gonna think twice about drawing their girls as eye candy or being heavy on the fanservice. Oda even admitting that yes he draws his woman extremely unrealistic and doesn't care because he likes it.
Which I gotta respect that.
Have you seen Todd Mc Farlane drawing the guy swinging he can do that and more without breaking a sweat.
At some point you just gotta expect Spider people spines are just built different.
....easier to except the new bs totem powers and prophecies
Thank God the Spiderverse movies ignored them.
Random dimensional travel machine is easier to explain than totems
And it worked for Spider Man meets Spider Man 2099 and barely worked for Spider Men and it worked really well for into the spiderverse
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpider Kraven was pretty cool
“Spiders biting me? No, I bite spiders! Oh I guess I have spider powers now”

I think it was the big booty and the spine shattering porn pose
I remember people drawing spines on the cover to show how it would have to be bending
