This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

You know what would be really diabolical even though it'd never really happen, but it has been living rent-free in my head because of how awful ASM is becoming?
If Marvel has some crossover event, it's leaked that some C-lister is getting killed, but then the first issue comes out, the leak turns out fake, the C-lister turns out fine...and the first guy that actually gets killed is Spider-Man himself.
And it's not a clone or a Mysterio illusion or an alternate dimension Peter. It's the real Peter Parker. Straight up DEAD.
And while everyone is rightfully horrified, the murderer lectures them, saying they don't have the right to mourn him with how they treat him again and again and again.
And then the murderer is Harry Osborn. And it's not a clone either, it's the actual Harry, resurrected from the dead by Mephisto to collect Peter because Mephisto was bored and wanted to personally play with his favorite toy.
But seriously, even in the darkest timeline, this would never happen in a million years, right?
Well, yeah. You're not wrong.
But it'd be different this time because realizing his murderer is the actual Harry and getting tortured in hell plus the hell going on in the Wells run would just shred his will to live, so much so that when he inevitably gets rescued, he rejects it with a depressed "go away."
And the only thing that snaps him out of it is the daughter he thought he lost years ago telling him he's better than he thinks he is. And that strengthens his resolve to just beat the crap out of Mephisto. That fight he had with Kingpin in "Back in Black"? Imagine that, but times 20 in terms of how hardcore the fight with Mephisto would be. And the sight of Peter's daughter just slams Mephisto into a downright feral mode.
Only then can there be a proper relaunch of Spider-Man, like I'm taking to the same level as the Superman relaunch happening at DC.

x3 If you want to write fanfic, go write fanfic. Yes, it won't happen because Marvel editorial isn't interested in rectifying perceived "slights" against Peter when Wells' run is selling great.
'd
EDIT: While I can't comment on Williamson and Campbell's Superman (assuming that's what you're referencing) the relaunch did come at the cost of both a long term Superman and the Authority book and Superman's secret ID being public, which was still full of untapped potential.

I feel like the murderer of spider man lecturing everyone about how they didn’t appreciate him enough would be some hilariously bad writing
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDid he claim it in universe?

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
x4: Yeah, I was referring to the recent Wilkinson and Campbell run of Superman. And also what's happening in Action Comics. But there's just this sense of fresh air going on with the Superman books that the Spider-Books could use.
...But it ain't happening because, as we established, ASM is printing money. As usual.
I can't believe people are voting poorly with their wallets.
You think so?

And the Uncanny Spider-Man
announcement - it's the third part of Si Spurrier's Nightcrawler saga, with the X-Man now playing hero in New York, disguised by a Spider-Man suit. Five issue limited series.
I wonder if he asked Peter or Miles about using the costume?

At this point they're being pushed in so many directions they'll never make everyone happy. Long term fans are still bitter over One More Day. New readers don't want to be loaded with baggage. There's probably some pressure to mirror the MCU version. Stories should be exciting and actually change things... but Peter's status quo can't change too much.
None of which means they're doing it all right. But I think it's a poison chalice for any creative team caught between fans and Disney/Marvel management.

Mephisto? Mephisto? The X-Men have a whole range of demons to choose from - why go to Mephisto when Belasco, N'astrih, S'ym, Annihilation and all the rest are available. Shop around, get a more competitive quote. And you can probably get Madelyne to broker the deal.
As for what it's for - possibly retconning his dad Azazel out of existence? I don't think too many X-fans would mind that.
Interesting to see Nightcrawler playing Spider-Man. Do we know if he'll be fighting some of Peter (and I guess Miles') enemies?
I'd be fascinated to see some of the classics spidey rogues take on Kurt and vice versa. Get a real idea of where he stands.
Kurt's as agile, and has his teleporting, but isn't anywhere near as strong as Peter (I'm pretty sure he has no super strength), so I'm wondering how he'll handle certain situations. His teleporting gives him some very different options as well.
One Strip! One Strip!
Nice. Anyone got some picks?
This is actually a fair trade. Peter has taken on some X-Men rogues (most notably the Juggernaut, but he's also clashed with an incarnation of the Brotherhood lead by Toad, and briefly fought Magneto back during Acts of Vengeance, though he had the Captain Universe Power at the time, and I don't think Magneto put in much effort since he opted to instead beat the shit out of the Red Skull) so seeing an X-man fight a few Spiderman Rogues seems fair.
I recall Rusty and Skids once fought the Vulture, and there was the recent Gwen Stacy comic series where it was revealed that Jean, Hank and Bobby fought the Green Goblin back in their early days, but I think that's it.
It's always cool when characters from one franchise take on characters from another part of the universe.
One Strip! One Strip!

I think you mean take down in one of those talk downs.
