This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

If only they had Dr. Doom's power-taker-away thing. That seems to have no upper limit on what it can steal.
The Protomen enhanced my life.So with the recent Venom reveal about the position of King in Black, it rather recontextualizes Knull's motivation
Everything Knull was doing was to avoid doing his job. The Ki B position meant he had to effectively build the universe personally with his own hands, a maddening and incomprehensible task even to most Ki B holders.
Especially for Knull who just wants to sleep in the dark because building the universe means fillling it with stuff including people and life. The Celestials he attacked actually wanted to recruit him for cosmic building and that's when Knull officially decided "Man fuck this job."
Him wanting to obliterate all universal life is so he doesn't have to do his job and simply sleep peacefully for the rest of eternity.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Hmm, first arc of Miles' new comic is over and I'm not sure how to feel about it. The art is fantastic and it's pretty neat to see Miles interacting with Misty Knight in a way that he wouldn't with Peter as a mentor.
But Rabble is... a villain. Miles continues trying to talk her down to an extent that I doubt even Peter would after she firebombs Miles' family's apartment with his parents and baby sister still inside. He tells Rabble that she's not a bad person after all this, but she rejects his attempts by saying that he'd still be making the choice for her and that she'll never stop coming after his family. She blames him for her parents' deaths and is willing to go out in a suicidal attempt to kill them all with her "Pyrrhic protocol".
On one hand, her blend of unhinged menace, sheer determination, and batshit insanity makes her an effective villain. On the other hand, her motive is, frankly, stupid and irrational to the point that the other characters in the story call her out on it. I guess people can be petty and unreasonable but I can't help but think that her whole motive of feeling cheated out of getting into a good school falls apart if you think about it for two seconds.
Unless there's somehow an overabundance of supergenius STEM high school students in a city with multiple high-level technical high schools...

I think the issue is that Miles is still overtly sympathetic to her.
If Miles simply had enough of her and decided enough is enough like Peter does with a lot of his rogues, then she would be a decent psycho maniac antagonist.
But Miles unrelenting attempts to talk her down lend her more sympathy than she deserves.

Yeah. She's a supergenius technopath who got the short end of the stick when it came to the school lottery. But rather than be mad at the school for designing a system where your chance of getting in comes down to a raffle, she decides to take it out on Miles instead for "stealing" her chance.
It's implied that her overuse of her technopath abilities is causing her brain damage that's making her go insane, as she blames him for her parents' deaths when he had nothing to do with it (her mom died of cancer and her dad passed away later of unknown causes).
And the weird part about is that the beginning of the run establishes Miles as being angrier and more cynical after the events of the last run, where he was physically and psychologically tortured and dealt with a Bad Future where he died and NYC came under control of his evil clone. The events of Outlawed made him a Cop Hater and he has to stop himself from beating a villain half to death. So this compassion feels even more unwarranted.

Rabble's also pretty young, and the first issue shows her actively helping folk in her neighborhood.
Whereas most Spider-villains aren't Miles' age, are they? Lots of them are older folk, often with wealth and power.
I suspect it's her age and motivation, not just her gender, that leads Miles to try to help her rather than just punching her into oblivion.
She isn't entirely making sense, as folk have said, and multiple characters have commented on that in-universe. It'll be interesting to see how/if she returns.
I think the funny thing is that by all indications Rabble is not really that much of a good person.
Like sure she has a nice side but her vendetta against Miles strikes her as a hideously petty and spiteful person underneath all that.
If this is her reaction to losing that raffle then it's possible she would similarly blow up towards any setback, and Miles was just unfortunate enough to be the one that winds up triggering her rage.
After all just because you have potential doesn't mean you will grow up to be inherently good. Doctor Doom and Doc Ock were both geniuses who started our decent but life and their own flaws eventually molded them into the monsters they are now.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."She firebombed an apartment with a baby in it? That calls for a punching
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
And there is punching. He tries to physically defeat her, and he also tries to talk her down.
And when Miles finally overloads her machines, it leaves him hospitalized and unconscious while she presumably gets away. So there's not much opportunity to resolve things one way or the other with her.

What did Peter do? More like what did Peter and Felicia do now. They stole tech from Tony and Moon Girl off panel to help Norman equip and add to an outfit Peter needed to access the alternate dimension MJ was trapped in

I feel like he should focus more on defeating her than talking her down
This reminds me of Tinkerer from the Miles Morales game, where Miles also refuses to just talk down the villain because he keeps trying to talk her down

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Was Alpha in Big Time era? I am aware of the character but I'm struggling to remember if I actually read his comics
