This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

That is one of those times he's put his foot in his mouth. Then again, he could very much not believe it himself and was just saying something to rile people up (which I don't agree with).
And yeah this is why I stopped following mainstream Spider-Man for a long time. Sure I'll check in once in a while and buy some comics but honestly, the new shit and gimmicks to distract us from the fact that the writers don't want Spider-Man to really change and grow like Parker Industries, Paul, ETC have killed my interest.
Plus the new shit with Spider-Verse sounds stupid.
Gold Goblin at least had character growth for Norman even if the way we got there was dumb AF.
Sure, the writers and editorial are not bad people unless they did actual bad shit like harassment in the work place but there's a difference between sending death threats and being displeased with the current direction the series is going.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"And like, we know that Marvel has openly admitted to making story decisions to deliberately provoke and outrage people (it sells comics). Slott has even deliberately done this.
So to pretend that the idea is completely outlandish is just straight bullshit.
And idc if someone is anti-marriage or not IRL when the issue is that they're very clearly anti Spider-marriage. That's the only thing that really matters here.
Yeah Dan Slott and certain other writers are the type to stir shit and act like the victims.
I still remember how he acted when the cover of Superior Spider-Man 2 came out. Very immature.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah, And it's clearly meant to look like Otto is doing it against her will. And you know how controversial the new direction was at the start, so doing something like this is just begging for controversy.
And of course, Slott played the "Oh those are just fictional characters why are you man babies acting so immature about it" card.
You don't get to rile people up and act like the victim when it happens. That's just messed up.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Keep in mind that Otto kissed MJ while letting her believe that he was Peter, making this a case of sexual assault by deception. And the editors almost certainly know this. Granted, DC's and Marvel's editors have been smoking something to produce some of the plotlines we've seen in recent years, but...
I will give credit to Slott and Otto never actually kissed MJ in the issue IIRC.
But he def was doing rape by fraud when he and Annie were fucking.
Editorial tried to deny it but then the volume 2 comic did address it.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I definitely agree with Slott than fans psychoanalyzing creatives over what they put in fictional stories is creepy though. Like, I remember Quesada was frequently accused of wanting to molest his own daughter, with no evidence beyond Peter’s first post-MJ love interest being allegedly named after her.
I’m sorry, that is many times more messed up than anything creators have done to fans.
Bump, but I had to share this!
Behold! The true identity of Spider-Boy!
Real talk, the Spider-Editorial team must have legitimate superpowers of indifference if they somehow see pics like this and not sweat bullets over it.
Or alternatively, they filtered their social media timelines so they don't see pics like that.
Geez!
Jay seemed okay
Having cast members cycle in and out is not necessarily a bad thing. If Peter hung out with all the same faces forever that would get stale. And it can help give a specific run or era it’s own feel if it has its own unique cast. You can go too far with this - no Captain Marvel writer seems to want to give her much of a stable supporting cast outside other superheroes but hopefully that will change with Lauri-Ell and some of the others but mostly Lauri-Ell
