This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

They were un-married by the Flashpoint reset back in 2011, while many things have since switched back to their familiar status quos, that didn't for some reason, so they're just going to have a new wedding.
Not looking good, on one hand it confirms Mary Jane's missing years where she fended off the Emissary in this world with Paul and presumably fell for him all while Peter tried to retrieve her in the present, but in a more therapeutic moment you get to see MJ slap Paul, and you find MJ kept a piece of Spidey's costume with her at all times
Spider-Man#7 spoilers
Ah, so THAT's why we haven't heard of Spider-Boy
He was knifed and cut out of the web of life and destiny, now he's been restored (along with the other Spiders that were knifed, both on the page and off, like Jessica...and Kaine!)

"I'm reminded on the Kieron Gillen run on Loki, and how Journey into Mystery ended" Luckily, writers seem to have steadfastly refused to just put Loki back to being a villain. He actually did manage to change.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.
Peter showed up with a big hi-tech webshooter and shot blasts from it into Shathra that sent her to another dimension. It reminded me of Sailor Moon's first finale for some reason. Peter got reattached to the web of life and destiny afterwards and became Spider-Man again

A question about this thread itself, rather than the comics -
Is there any appetite for a pinned post that would explain the scope of the thread (Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099 etc. - but also stuff like Gold Goblin, Black Cat and Red Goblin, that's clearly spider-family related?) and ensure the spoiler policy link's always visible?
For that matter, is this the right thread for all of those titles? I assume it is. And for Venom and Carnage?
Thanks!

Spider-Man#7
This was mad
The release of Morlun's totem energy sends him and the Spiders to the very end of the spider-verse...manhattan 616. Morlun, badly weakened, goes into hiding. He will return in the Web of Carnage event
Shathra's hold over her minions is shattered and they revert to normal. Mary Jane asks Mayday if she can spot Annie or 'her' Peter, Mayday says she can't, and then asks if they've seen her dad, revealing he is The Other and resembles a giant spider, Spider-Ham replies that description doesn't help any
Shathra grows giant and Silk orders the billions of Spider-Men to battle, after an exhausting back and forth, 616 Peter arrives armed with giant hi-tech trans dimensional combat web shooter, which he uses to send Shathra to another plane of existence. Shathra's sister Neith, the first Spider-Totem, arrives and hands the Spiders the talisman that can restore all those cut from the web of life and destiny.
Arana uses the talisman to restore Jessica, Kaine, and one other...young Bailey, aka Spider-Boy. Kaine tells Jessica he was present in the battle with Morlun in issue one but got stabbed, we as readers didn't notice, and neither did the others, Jessica then remembers, Cindy says they're lucky they didn't forget, but it seems those who are cut from the web have a limited window of relevancy with the world before they are completely neglected. With Bailey, they waited too late and now nobody remembers him, despite him having been around for a while and having had millions of adventures with Peter and Miles.
Bailey, annoyed that everyone's forgotten about him, swings away. The remaining Spiders all bombard Cindy with questions, MC 2 Peter asks Mayday to talk to Cindy and ask for her help in restoring him to normal (presumably Cindy succeeds, as we saw Peter back with his Mary Jane and the family in the Spider-Girl Marvel Infinity comic published last year)
616 Peter is also back to 'normal', realizing Uncle Ben is lost to him again, he calls Aunt May, who's experiences with Ben in the altered timeline have been reduced to a pleasant dream. Peter asks if they're still on for dinner. Cindy and Peter talk on the roof, Cindy doesn't think it's fair that Peter is no longer the chosen one, but Peter says there's no better person qualified to replace him than her, his duty is to his own world as the one and only Amazing Spider-Man and swings away, finally freed from the obligations of the Spider-Verse

The latest Venom issue says that the Beyonders are the "Kings in White", and alongside the King(s) in Black are meant to serve as the architects of the universe.
I've always been neutral on this whole King in Black mythos but I do love how it constantly ties into various aspects of the Marvel universe. It adds legitimacy to it, and makes it more than just anotherrandom god plopped into the verse.
Also Spiderman is actually the idea candidate for King in Black thanks to his thing for responsibility. But he's got his own stuff going on and Eddie was the next best thing.
Eddie just can't catch a break.
#IceBearForPresidentNot much of a stretch, I guess.
The Beyonders were called the Ivory Kings during the build up to Secret War 2015. It’s just a short hop from there to arc weld them onto the king in black stuff
Plus, the Beyonders have this whole deal after Defenders Beyond where they maintain the multiverse, versus Knull who wanted to tear it all down
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe issue even points that out. The "ivory kings" maintain the universe from outside it while the "ebony king" maintains it from within.
Knull was the worst candidate for the throne. His very nature as a creature of the void means he's not suited for building, he's only capable of destroying. Of reducing everything back to zero. So not only was he instinctually compelled to death and destruction, the responsibility of the King in Black broke his mind.
#IceBearForPresidentAl Ewing in particular really seems to love Arc Welding Marvel’s often contradictory cosmology. He even came up with an explanation for the much-grumbled-about fact that there are so many nearly identical evil nihilistic gods that want to reduce the universe to nothing that actually made sense.
Well, the fact that the current universe is just the 7th or 8th iteration, and all the gods of darkness are just fragments of the original God of Darkness back from the 3rd incarnation of the universe that got broken into pieces, is a decent enough explanation for why there are so many occupying the same title and originating when there was ostensibly "nothing".

#IceBearForPresidentSo yeah, there's still not point in expecting actual progress and the writing will resort to gimmicky plot points to keep the illusion of progress even long after it's been shattered by OMD.
It helps I'm far more invested in non-616 Peter characters these days.
Like Venom, and Gold Goblin.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"So, I have to ask -
In the main 616 continuity, does Tombstone actually have poodles?
This is prompted by his appearance in a certain Lighter and Softer webcomic, where he has three of them.
In Marvel Meow and Pizza Dog #2, they all run into Kate Bishop mid-walk, while she's walking Lucky and several cats, including Captain Marvel's Chewie. A pet fight ensues.
Tombstone: My prized poodles! You scamps!!
I laughed.
A message from Dan Slott.
I do not like everything Dan Slott has written and maybe he has put his foot in his mouth a few times. But when he's right, he's right.
Spider-Man is such a weird case where it feels like the editorial and fans are at war with each other. They both want really different things.
Closest to whats happening here is over at the Black Panther office where they are mandating a direction for the character that has gotten a significant uproar from fans.
Its all so weird.
