This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Sins Past was bad. Last Remains? Is that what it was called? Was also bad. It’s a lateral yet more convoluted and less character assassinationy move
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNot sure if anyone's posted this, but we have a Marvel press release summarising the Summer of Symbiotes:

C 2 E 2 is this weekend and there will be a Spider-Man and Venomverse panel

Very cute homage to the classic X-Men pool party poster by Jim Lee.
And now, a Controversial Opinion:
As terrible as OMD is, Quesada's defense as to why it is not a downer ending actually holds a bit of water. He sees it as a bittersweet ending because Peter and MJ sacrificed their marriage to save something more important, namely May's life. And that's... actually right, a life is more important that a romantic relationship.
It's such a bizarre combination of "stupid, but also correct" that I'm not sure there's even a word for it.
I mean Aunt May accepted she was going to die and told Peter to accept it IIRC.
Peter is basically denying his Aunt’s wishes just so he could stop feeling guilt and refuse to take responsibility for his actions.
Plus they did this deal with full knowledge that their daughter would be unborn as per the girl’s taunts.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"A big issue is that it was done by making a Deal with the Devil - you know Mephisto wouldn't offer the bargain unless they knew it would be a net loss for human happiness.
Yeah Spider-Man letting the DEVIL play with time and reality is a def a net negative.
I personally headcanoned that the new villains that showed up after OMD like Mr. Negative only exist because of Mephisto's deal.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"There's no making the devil deal look good. Peter denied his Aunt her wish...erased his marriage and unborn child...so he wouldn't feel guilty. I'm reminded of what someone said in the early days of BND...that it would be hilarious if after Peter made the deal...May ended up keeling over anyway.

That is exactly what Mephisto would do, but now Aunt May is protected by Marvel Editorial since if she dies then the deal would be even more pointless.
So we're stuck with her.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Just as editorial has weird hang ups about Spider-Man and long term relationships, they also have a weird hang up about Aunt May being an integral part of Peter's life.
Heck the first time Aunt May died and had a touching send off, Bob Harras DEMANDED that Aunt May be revived.
For some reason.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Preview of Amazing Spider-Man#23
Peter ask Johnny and Ben for help, he explains the situation but they're waiting on Captain America's arrival so Peter can answer for what happened in Pennsylvania...they also want to run tests on Peter to verify his identity, they're not sure he is who he says he is. Peter wants access to Reed's lab and while he appreciates Ben and Johnny's honesty, he seems just about ready to thrown down the gauntlet and fight them on the matter

Does May currently know that Peter is Spider-Man? Because I think, if she's going to be alive, she works better when she knows he's Spider-Man than when she has no idea.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.

My response is that Sins Past should have never happened in the first place.
