This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

It was introduced at the end of Seanan Mcgurie's run as a way to keep Gwen in the 616. Mcguire simply wasn't able to tell the story she wanted to tell.
She's super inconsistent.
That's not accurate, she's pretty consistentlyn written in her solo run and clearly has a character.

I maintain that Ghost Spider would be a better codename for Miles who can turn invisible and then taze people
It’s a nothing code name for Gwen. Oh I have white in my costume and an alternate version of me is dead I guess I’m a ghost spider! Go back to name school, Gwen

Yeah the real world really seeped into Spider-Gwen's writing at times.
There's so much emphasis placed on her alternate self's death. Because it's important to us.
Spider-Man has various versions who are dead but you don't see Peter focusing on that.

Gwen and Miles are fucking Bendis?!!!
Yeah this is an example of the comic placing so much focus on Gwen's death because it's iconic to her character but in-universe she has no reason to keep thinking about it.
Peter isn't scared of transforming into the Lizard is he?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"He could stand to grow extra arms more often if you think about it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou heard him folks. Kid Arachnid it is!
Marvel and Miles are in a tricky spot. Miles was never intended to share a universe with an active Peter Parker Spider-Man. He was meant to be The Spider-Man.
He was salvaged and shoved into the 616 universe when the ultimate universe was taken out back and shot. But now there’s two Spider-Mans. And Miles wasn’t meant to be mentored by an older Spider-Man and if you have Miles hang out with Peter too much, Peter starts feeling old. So despite lipservice about how Peter is Miles’ mentor, they mostly just do their own shit
Anyway, Peter isn’t going to change from being Spider-Man. He has way too much popularity and history.
Miles has too much popularity too and it’d be a bad look to demote him in favor of Peter.
So we have two Spider-Mans. But we also have two Hawkeyes and we have two Captains America.
I don’t know why we couldn’t have two Spider-Women. Marvel is silly.
What gets me is what does the D stand for

Apparently when Miles was doing Spy stuff in lead up to this he used his father's surname as a codename: Davis.
Spy-D = Spy Davis
Also, I wonder if giving Gwen her own codename was less to rebrand her from Spider-woman and more to rebrand her from Spider-Gwen.

From what I recall her Ghost Spider comic was about her being an interdimensional exchange student.
She technically still lived on Earth-65, but she colleges on Earth-616 so she spends more time on the latter place cause she goes to school there now.
Why exactly she's doing to a 616 college I'm not sure.
