This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I assume they would rather she get together with Silk.
Anyway, it doesn't necessarily need to be Black Cat. I just think giving Peter a romantic relationship that lasts at least 5 years would be a good idea. But I also think Marvel's made the decision to not give Peter any serious relationships, so that each book can do whatever it damned well wants to do with him. So the next writer of ASM can give him a girlfriend who gets mad at him for leaving dates, a relaunched Spectacular Spider-Man can have him dating a completely different girl, and some new team comic can tease him getting together with, I don't know, Shuri or whatever.

And just to remind everyone: we're supposed to like Paul. FFS, this plot is supposed to be "what did Peter do?" But it's looking like Peter didn't do anything bad! It's all MJ and Paul! (I mean, I guess Peter's Very Bad Thing was him bringing MJ and Paul out of the future, but come the hell on, Marvel!)
UGH. It's not just me, right? I'm not the only one who thinks every revelation from this run is just one "FFS" moment after another? Where the twists are just so frustrating, all you can do is rub your temples and just mutter "FFS"?

I believe it’s more anyone dating Peter at this point is an inevitable crapshoot
It’s honestly pointless shipping Peter with anyone due to editorials endless hang-ups about his romantic escapades
Felicity especially has been derailed a couple times because of her association with him
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Honestly...unless they finally move on from the beliefs that led to OMD...they just need to drop romance for Peter entirely. No romance they put him in will be convincing...because they made it clear that he must always be single. Why should we care who he dates?

They're really stuck, they can't move Peter on romantically for the "single everyman" reason, and they can't convince the readers to buy into the 'illusion of change' because readers are still treating OMD like it's just another multi-year serial like the Clone Saga which has to have a resolution.
The ending of OMD had MJ say their love would overcome anything thrown at it, even if they're the ones derailing it, they'll find their way back to each other, and then you have the ending of Nick Spencer's run revealing they will overcome Mephisto enough to have a daughter that saves us all.
No other female love interest stands a chance either way against those kind of odds. They're just roadblocks. I'd rather Felicia go back to her romance with Flash or just gallivant with her trusty crew and have heists and adventures than involve herself with Peter again. She's outgrown him.

You might be thinking of this
fan-art, it's from a few years ago but I first saw it being circulated around the same time Night-Spider was revealed for the new Spiderverse.
As far as I know we haven't had anything official.
A bit confusing to me if they reveal the whole thing is MJ and Paul's fault. From the way things were going I was expecting MJ to get stuck there, Peter sent back without issue, and then Peter's attempts to bring MJ back are what cause the big explosion. That would fit more with what Peter said about Norman helping him when bringing back someone he cared about went wrong. This way though, if the big mystery is ultimately MJ fucking with Paul's device, that's... super shitty to present as Peter's fault.
Also if the idea is going to be that Peter got forcibly sent back, blamed for the consequences of it, and this resulted in MJ staying there longer and marrying Paul and having children with him, then treating Peter like shit when he's upset over by this and not yet moved on by the sudden change... wow what the fuck, that's super gross and shitty.
We have Solicitations For June
for ASM#27 and 28
Doc Ock is back with new tentacle tech, and Peter is grieving a major death in ASM#26
RE: Death in ASM #26:
God help us if that death is MJ. And if it's Paul, then God help us if Peter gets crapped on for it somehow.
I (half-)jest, but thank god we're getting a new artist. No offense to JRJR, but a lot of the art in this run just felt off. I thought the new artist would be Patrick Gleason, but Ed McGuinness ain't no slouch.

Marvel are bringing back What If for a new series of "Dark" themed one-shots. The first is by former Renew Your Vows writers Gerry Conway and Jodie Houser as they pen a new twist on Conway's landmark career and era defining story the Night Gwen Stacy Died...What If Spider-Man died instead of Gwen?
https://comicbook.com/comics/news/marvel-what-if-dark-classic-stories-dark-twist/
That...is an interesting idea.
I wonder if they'll incorporate the retcon from Clone Conspiracy about Gwen learning Peter's identity just before she died?
Either way, this is gonna be interesting, especially with Gerry Conway himself writing it.
One Strip! One Strip!

As far as romance in Spider-Man goes, I still think the best thing they could do would be to give Peter and Felicia at least 5 years together. They won't, of course, because different writers will want to do different romantic arcs. This writer will want to tease Peter and some other heroine, that writer will want to do the tired old trope of Peter's girlfriend being mad at him for always running out on dates with bad excuses. Either way, Marvel doesn't really want to commit to a single long-term romance for Peter, in favour of each writer getting to do their own thing.
