This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Not like he could handle her worse than Kevin Smith did. Ugh. That damn mini. I also just read a story Aguirre-Sarcasa wrote with her, and it was bad. It was during Civil War, Spider-Man got his ass handed to him by the Rhino, so Felicia got really angry and decided to take him down, and the issue was all about her not being over Peter and how she'd wrapped up a big part of her identity around him and just, ugh. It was bad.
My Marvel read-through is just past Civil War. I'm about to read Back In Black, and then comes One More Day. Oof.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.
Back In Black is at least a worthy end to pre-OMD Spidey, JMS had something to prove on his way out. Then there's Fraction's "To Have and to Hold" which, while not written by JMS, is often credited with being the 'true' end of that era and what it had to say about Peter and MJ. That and "The Book of Peter" all form a good Series Fauxnale
I still find it weird we've never gotten an alternate universe series that follows the marriage on from "To Have and to Hold", and Civil War onwards. Renew Your Vows is set in a world where CW never happened, but it would be great to see how things would have unfolded with a married and publicly exposed Spidey.
Much like with that "What If" where Gwen lived and married Peter and his identity got exposed, there was no follow up to that either.

Oh wow, even Council of Geeks
has commented on the Peter and MJ situation.
What's really sad about Evil That Men Do is that there are times it comes close to a great story about rape, sexual abuse and how it affects people. It's the only comic from the 2000s that I've seen feature a male victim of sexual abuse without treating it as a joke or ignoring it completely

I've seen Council of Geek's videos occasionally posted in other forums on Tropes, mostly about her commentaries on transgender controversies with JK Rowling. She's best known in the Doctor Who community for her lengthy reviews and hot takes on that particular show. I thought it was worth mentioning that she'd commented on the Spidey comics as she does have a big following on Youtube.
A real life version of Aunt May and Peter's house is up for sale
.
Just came across this post
from Scans Daily of Peter getting his ass kicked by Paste Pot Pete THE TRAPSTER.
It got me wondering, what happened to the Trapster? What's he doing lately....oh wait. He was replaced by a new female version wasn't he? I remembered, she was part of Beetle's new, all female Sinister Six.
But I'm still wondering what happened to classic Trapster. Is he dead? Retired? Still trying to get people to stop calling him Paste Pot Pete?
One Strip! One Strip! The end of Gold Goblin today -
Norman enlists Spider-Man to help him fight the Queen Goblin (Dr. Kafka), who's intent on returning his sins to him - and frustrated that she can't. She almost kills him, impaling him on a goblin glider, then tries to psychically download all of the sin to Peter - Norman saves him by attacking her with her own flail-mace thing, but snaps her neck with the chain. He's left in tears, carrying the guilt for her death.
To be continued, I guess.
I tried flipping through Red Goblin today and thought it was pretty good. Normie makes for a similar protagonist to Dylan in that he's impetuous, somewhat cynical, and immature. But he's less sure of himself and chafes under the knowledge that his grandfather ruined many, many lives, to the point that he considers being an Osborn a curse. He also clearly resents his mom, Liz Allan, for being so busy running Oscorp that she can barely spend any time on him and Stanley.
Normie's symbiote, "Rascal", is pretty much the inverse of Venom in that it's incredibly childish and pouty but also desperate to please. As Normie puts it, Rascal is a clean sheet, as innocent as a puppy. But it also completely lacks self-control and will go after chocolate and candy with reckless abandon. It isn't fully bonded to Normie either and will attempt to bully Normie into giving it what it wants.
Also, the scene where a delirious, dehydrated, and exhausted Norman mistakes red-clad Normie for Peter and desperately apologizing to him was a real gut punch moment.

Normie is just short for Norman. He’s named after his father and grandfather: Norman Harold Osborn but called Normie for disambiguation
Forever liveblogging the AvengersLike the early symbiotes like the Life Foundation bunch are basically color skins of Venom and Carnage. They have the same eyes and mouth with the only difference being Riot is grey or Phage is yellow
Recent symbiotes though have been trying to be more distinct, like Sleeper who has unique eyes and a color pattern
or Wilde one of the Kings in Black who has an eyeless look with dreads
Though Scream has cool hair
I'm digging the Red Goblin series. Though I can't shake the nagging Continuity Snarl with his identity.
Like, Normie was originally red and white. He was never officially called Anti-Carnage, but he was clearly the latest in the line of anti symbiotes (Anti-Venom, Silence, now Rascal). But hey I loved the Norman Red Goblin design so okay, but I would like an explanation for why Rascal is all red now.
But also, Normie was called Goblin Childe when he was given a Carnage offshoot. But now he's calling himself Red Goblin. These are a lot of names and looks Normie has been juggling with no explanation.

Aw, I wanted to read Black Cat/MJ, but it's all to do with Dark Web? I'm not following that stuff, so eh
