This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Kingpin’s appearance may have been based on Sydney Greenstreet’s look when playing gangsters in various movies
The best things in life are homaged and/or plagiarized
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn general, they kind of quietly ignore Kingpin's silver age history and his backstory in Daredevil stories takes precedence.
Been trying to figure out a cohesive timeline that makes Spider-Man and Daredevil's history with him make sense.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I think it's more that the actual issues are ignored, while his general legacy as a villain takes precedence. Like, the time he brainwashed George Stacy into stealing documents gets ignored but the Winkler Device he used to do it comes up a lot, as recently as the Wells run.
I think the same is true for Magneto, where everything he did before the Claremont run is mostly ignored outside of the most vague elements.
Marvel have officially revealed that Spider-Man#7
will feature the debut of a new heroic character that Slott has created.
Good luck with that one Dan, we all remember the deal with Alpha.
Meantime, Comics Compendium interviewed Zeb Wells
over the weekend, here's what he said
1. He understands the frustrations about Chasm, and he hopes to 'dig Ben out of the hole' by the end of his run
2. There's going to be a big wedding issue between Janice and Randy, along with a bachelorette party.
3. Nothing mentioned about MJ or Felicia, but we do find out more about Kamala
4. Arcs devoted to Kraven and Doc Ock
5. Perhaps the biggest reveal....the return of Rek-Rap in a four part follow up to the Dark Web disaster! You love to see it
Another weird thing about Kingpin is that he originally was not needed to keep the New York underworld in control according to his character page.

Yeah, this is part of why trying to reconcile Kingpin in Spider Man’s and Daredevil’s corner of Marvel is tricky since they contradict each other.
But really, the idea that Fisk is needed to control crime and keep it manageable is a pretty laughable idea since there are tons of supervillains robbing banks with him around.
It’s the kind of idea he’d like to peddle as a way to keep control.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Some spoilers for ASM are being shared
Looks like Mary Jane and Paul's kids are named Stephanie and Owen
Which strikes me as odd, because MJ referred to Stephanie as 'romey' in issue two of this run when she appeared
It also confirms the being made of light from the end of Beyond is The Emissary, aka Ben Rabin, a mathematician who summoned the mayan god Weyb to Earth in a 2008 story written by Zeb Wells during the Brand New Day era.

Paul Mc Mephist-O'Toole.
The news of an upcoming Kraven arc doesn't excite me. Call me a purist, but Kraven should've stayed dead after Kraven's Last Hunt. Every attempt to do something with him (except Squirrel Girl) feels like a retread. And I rolled my eyes so hard at "Kraven's clone son cuts his hair to look exactly like the original Kraven so we can pretend this is the original Kraven who has a history with Spider-Man even though it's not."
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]The Kraven thing is one of my biggest dislikes of the Spencer run. He made Kraven evil again so he could do Kraven's last hunt a third time and then killed him off to replace him with his identical son and proceeded to do nothing with him for the rest of that run. I think son of Kraven shows up in Sinister War but nobody does anything in that arc.
Was soul of the hunter the one where Kraven haunts Peter because as a suicide he’s barred from heaven until Peter forgives both Kraven and himself by giving ghost Kraven a big hug?

I mean, the Sinister Six members usually have above average education.
It's just that they are often held back by their own flaws.
Like Electro was smart enough to be an electrical engineer before his mom told him no, and is potentially the most powerful of Spider-Man rogues but is too short-sighted to use his full potential.
Plus Kraven does a lot of stupid shit on his own. Like that business deal with Norman.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"

Stan Lee's portrayal of the Kingpin is basically more of a Bond villain mob boss who keeps his identity a secret since Jameson has no idea who he is even when they meet face to face, and it's stated he's a relatively new mob boss from parts unknown.
It's just funny to imagine the Lee-Romita era Kingpin and Miller and Stern Kingpin being the same guy.
