This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Trust me. When you're at your comic shop today, pre-order SPIDER-MAN #7 w/ *this* cover.
Put *this* on your pull list. You will thank me.
The issue's left house. It's at the printer. It's happening. Nobody stopped us.
This is me— doing that— NOW.
"But I wasn't even following the 'End of the Spider-Verse' storyline..."
You'll still want this.
"Why did you do THAT at the end of THAT story?"
Because I'm evil.
Editorial, artists, myself, and some of the highest ranking Marvel bigwigs had email chains where we went back-and-forth over aspects of this *MANY* times.
And— BOOM— it's a thing. It's a' happening. And where is it happening? In the pages of SPIDER-MAN #7!!!
Nice try, Slott. The only way you could get me stoked about this is if this was the return of the Peter/MJ marriage. And not long ago, you just said that Marvel's editors are never gonna let that happen.
A Peter/Cindy marriage, though, that's...are any of us even ready for that? (Assuming that's what the big thing is?)
What is the deal with this run, anyway? Slott hasn't made clear when any of this takes place, right?

Specifically Eddie as Bedlam got teleported somewhere in Limbo and faces off against Darkoth Ruler of Limbo.
Once again Al Ewing shows his mastery of continuity as not only does he make the most of the terrible Dark Web event but he also uses the story to explain Darkoth's sudden disappearance years ago. Using Limbo's weird time shit to split the timelines into a path where Bedlam kills Darkoth and goes back to Meridus as per the original timeline and another where Darkoth blows up Bedlam infecting him with the symbiote leading to the Thor/Venom crossover from several months ago and shooting Eddie's consciousness throughout reality where he eventually meets the hidden path of Venom.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah he's the main writer of Venom now, along with Ram V whose wrote several issues early and is the main writer of the Carnage ongoing. Currently Ewing is the full writer for Venom as V focuses on Carnage.
Wasn't that already resolved in Cullen Bunn's Agent Venom and later on in the Absolute Carnage Scream miniseries?
OK, Slott
seems super-sure this next issue of Spider-Man will be as big as "Dying Wish" was
Oh. I thought it was the one where Doc Ock was dying and wanted to flash-fry Earth.

The Protomen enhanced my life.Preview of ASM#21
A mysterious being MJ's kids identity as the 'scribble man' arrives in New York, Paul recognises him, MJ asks if he's sure, Paul gets the kids to safety and tells MJ to remember the drill, and he'll come back to her when the children are safe. MJ heads towards the danger and calls Peter on the phone, telling him that "he came back"
So here's a post of Scans Daily of the first appearance of Venom: https://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/10026797.html#cutid1
I have this comic, and the preceding comic (with Chance) of where he appears in the dark in front of MJ.
And of course, this issue ends with Peter slapping on the imitation of his old costume that he got during Spider-Man Vs Wolverine limited series, and the legend begins anew.
But wow, they really just pulled Brock out of nowhere huh? Like, there was zero build up to him if I understand. But that's because Venom was originally meant to be a woman who'd lost her child in an accident connected to Peter (like I'm not sure if he directly caused it or if the accident was an indirect result of something he did). I think it got veto'ed due to sexism.
Eddie's come a long ass way huh? But I think it helped a lot that most adaptations bothered to give him actual appearances and build up his grudge against spidey....except for, ironically enough, The Spectacular Spider-Man. That one did build up Eddie, but had him break bad rather quickly.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh right. He was built up. I'd forgotten about the train thing (it worked because Peter's Spider-Sense didn't warn him since the symbiote doesn't trigger it).
What I mean is that, Eddie part in the Sin Eater Arc was a Retcon, and he was mainly created to be Venom's new partner.
I recall Venom was originally supposed to be a woman. One who was inadvertently hurt by Spider-Man, but it's been a while so I'll need to dig up the full details again.
One Strip! One Strip!
Yeah Venom's new host was supposed to be a woman who had a miscarriage because the taxi driver was looking at Spider-Man fighting a villain and crashed.
It was rejected because the writers thought a woman couldn't possibly be a physical challenge for Spider-Man.
Shame because Peter lacks any real notable female villains.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"

Dan Slott
hyping up an all-important issue of his Spider-Man title next month.
