This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Its a new Venomverse that is more like the Edge of Spider-Verse stories where it takes an anthology approach telling a story about different characters each issue.
Already is sounding better than the first Venomverse because the announced stories aren't just random hero composites, but either stuff like Eddie Brock as Spider-Man or Samurai Venom.
Its not shit like Rocket Raccoon Venom or Gwen-Poole Venom.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So here is Kraven's origin, as explained in this week's Lost Hunt
Most of the issue focuses on Aja Orisha, she is from Wakanda, she left to explore the wider world and met Henry Mc Kay in Harlem, they fell in love and very quickly married, Henry then died two months later but not before impregnating Aja, who gives birth to a child she christens Takhar. Aja meets Sergei while helping people and, sensing he is troubled, takes him under her wing, training him and Takhar in Africa, but Sergei develops a knack for hunting and killing animals, something she is against.
She takes Sergei back to her estate in Manhattan, where she believes he can overcome his inner demons through the process of death and rebirth. She feeds him the necccersary drugs and buries him, but instead of the two weeks that it takes to cleanse the soul, Sergei revived himself in four days, his demons too great to overcome. He began to resent Aja, as did Takhar, and both left her company to explore the world, Takhar adopting the name Gregor and accepting Sergei as his father figure.
Sergei would then pervert Aja's treatments, using the process on Spider-Man (Kraven's Last Hunt) after numerous encounters with Peter and failing to defeat him drove him insane.
Aja travels to Peter and MJ's house to warn them that Gregor is on his way with an animal army to kill them.
Mary Jane has managed to get through to the crazed Peter, telling him he can always come home, that he helped her find her true self, and she thanks god she found him in her life
So yeah, those latter bits were all JMD telling editorial to clear off.

Oooooh, all that telling-editorial-to-clear-off attitude is like serotonin to me right now given how Spider-Man's current run is going.
More of that, please.
I'm probably snorting Zarius' copium again, but revealing that the treatment Kraven used on Peter in Kraven's Last Hunt is actually supposed to be for cleansing the soul rather than f*cking with it like in KLH sounds like it's planting the seeds for Peter to do the treatment properly to really cleanse his soul and remove Mephisto once and for all, but I'm already getting ahead of myself.
Besides, there's one last issue of The Lost Hunt coming in March, so we'll have to keep hanging on.
Ah a reminder I must inhale my daily fix of that
That wouldn't be the first time JMD has planted a potential Fix Fic seed in there there's also turning Spidercide into a double of Ben, in case Marvel want to say he was Chasm all along
And here's another possibility
With Across the Spider-Verse right around the corner, coupled with what the ending of this issue sets up, the solicit for the last issue saying the ending is one noone will see coming, and going by De Matteis' recent blog posts ("I live in a universe where Peter is still married, I don't recognise the other guy"), I believe the series may just end with the birth of baby May.
Gregor is about to attack the Parkers with an animal army, Tracy has arrived also. She could serve as a mid-wife while MJ caves into the potential pressure of a home invasion and go into labour. The ending we don't see coming is baby May being born in a series that was billed as a pre-OMD 616 'special event'. That would be one hell of a twist, and it'd make you wonder if it'll become an AU, giving us a universe where the Parkers are parents and Ben is alive, active as Spider-Man, and able to be an Uncle.

So Kraven has a new origin now? I assume that’s because his original one tied him to the Russian Revolution, which would’ve made him fairly old even when he debuted in the 60s.
Makes me wonder how they’ll deal with Magneto when his being a Holocaust survivor becomes a stretch even with the de-aging.
I know there were plenty of people who didn't like the whole "replacing Vietnam with Siancong" thing for multiple characters' origins, and in fairness the stereotypical aspects could've been done without, but the idea of no longer having to tie the characters to a specific period of history isn't a bad one. Like, Tony's origin was retconned from being injured in Vietnam to being injured in Afghanistan, partially due to the movie of course, but how long till they have to change that origin again, especially with the US having now left Afghanistan? I think reestablishing the origins in a fictional conflict and setting helps future writers not having to keep coming up with new retcons.
At least with Cap, they lucked out by having him frozen after WWII, even if they technically didn't have to at first, given it was only 20 years ago when he was reintroduced. But characters like Magneto and the JSA are going to be awkward as soon as the last Holocaust survivornote /WWII veterannote dies as those origins are so intrinsically tied to the characters, it's going to be difficult to accept anything else even when we inevitably have to one day.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonAnd now Liz Allan joins the Symbiote squadron
Issue 26 is where the flashbacks to what Peter did end and everything takes place in the present as "The Emissary" arrives and a price will be paid in stopping it.

The second link goes to a page from 2012. Try this link. (Oh, you already fixed it. Okay!)

Calling it, Peter sacrifices his life to this Emissary. Or Norman quits being a good guy and goes back to being the Green Goblin and it's Peter's fault somehow.
I am so tired of this run that I'm just phoning it in. Screw the editors.

I think that's been canon since the 1980s - DeMatteis established that his childhood was tied to the Russian revolution and he was at least seventy when fighting Spider-Man.
Magic drugs are a hell of a thing.
Though since he started dying back in the original Kraven's Last Hunt due to using those drugs for so long, I guess they weren't enough of a hell of a thing.
One Strip! One Strip!Mary Jane & Black Cat 3 coming out slipped my mind for a bit. Caught up on that.
Not a particularly eventful chapter. Mostly establishing character motivations amid slice-of-life-ish character interaction up until the end. Felicia's bad luck powers have been weighing down MJ's lottery. But Felicia's powers only affect people she sees as enemies, which means she subconsciously sees MJ as an enemy. And there's only one big reason Felicia could have beef with MJ...
Also this happens during a battle. Bad timing.
With only two more issues before the arc is over (and knowing how the whole shebang ends-ends in hindsight), I'm a little concerned the whole thing will be rushed. Granted, it's not like this is a deep beef.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.Amazing Spider-Man#20
Peter tries to tell Felicia he loves MJ only like a best friend/sister now, and that his love for her has went from capital to lower case, Felicia doesn't buy this but chooses to stay with Peter anyway. So now she not only knows she's being used, knows Peter's not being honest with himself, understands Peter just lied to her, and is OK with it so long as she has him. Cat, this is not the mature decision.
Having seen the page, I don't think Peter is lying or using her. I think he's struggling to put what he is saying into words, and Felicia calls him out on him being wrong about parts. The actual dialogue:
Peter: "Mary Jane... has been part of my life for a long time. More than a part... But she's more like a sister-"
Felicia: "Nope."
Peter: "A best friend-"
Felicia: "Better, but-"
Peter: "I love her. I always have, and part of me always will. But... I think... that love has changed, you know? Like capital L to lowercase... or the other way around. Whichever makes sense."
His final words feel pretty honest, and I think he just floundered the beginning. That's hardly "he's lying to her face and using her and she just puts up with it."

Didn't we already get a Venomverse that was pretty boring?
Maybe Milesverse/Gwenverse 2 will be more interesting
