This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Some spiders can fly using the planet's electric field
and the Drapetisca socialis (invisible spider)
gets its name from how well it can hide in its environment and can spin an "invisible web".

Has anyone actually SAID that? I recall Tom Brevoort being criticized for saying that he feels a negative reaction to a story is better than no reaction at all, but that's not really the same thing, is it?
TBH I agree with RedM - I think people lean in way too hard on bad things happening to Spider-Man being a personal attack on the fans. I remember right after OMD there was a whole wave of armchair Freudians picking over the alleged psychosexual implications of the story, its creators, and their opinions of the fans, some of whom took it way too far. I remember constantly hearing accusations, with no evidence beyond the story itself, of Joe Quesada having incestuous designs on either his mother (since the story entails the trade of a partner figure for a mother figure) or his daughter (since Peter's first post-MJ girlfriend was allegedly named after her), and, I'm sorry, that's just creepy yo. And then there was that guy I mentioned last page, who needs no further elaboration.
Sometimes a crappy comic is just a crappy comic.

x10 Thanks! That makes sense, I hadn't known the invisible spider and its webs. One can argue turning it into straight-up invisibility is really extrapolated though, but it's not like the sense of spiders in real life is like the "spider sense" either. In fact, I'd like to see the spider sense in a more mundane way more often, only predicting things like sudden movements nearby, but also making spidey pretty much untouchable to any foe not faster than him.

oh hey how are you doing? So I finally found time to read Golden Goblin.
My god, I'm actually rooting for Norman now. Damn it all.
Still haven't gotten to the 4th issue but I just can't beat the gut feeling that Norman is eventually going to go the way of the other "reformed" villains trying to be heroes like Otto and Doom.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Just a heads up -
Following some discussion about content leaks and spoilers over on the moderation policy thread
These are pretty much what you'd expect - don't post unmarked spoilers for very recent releases, don't post unmarked spoilers for off-topic stuff (people may not expect film spoilers on a Marvel Comics thread etc.) and identify the source of your tagged spoilers.
(I think we're all following them anyway?)
A comic-specific summary of these rules has just been posted in a new Comics "Spoiler Policy" thread here
.
I'm crossposting this to the most active Comics threads, so apologies if you see it more than once!
Not directly comics news, but Amazon and Sony are making a live-action Spider-Man Noir series
.
I wonder it that increases or decreases the chance of more Noir comics?
Who was the original Noir?
EDIT: Oh, the original was (a) Peter Parker, so this new one may be different.
