This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Hey, with Venom being a good guy and Doc Ock back in his original body, the position of "Evil Spider-Man" is currently vacant. I say let Ben slide a little lower.
Reminds me of Chris Hastings' joke that editors don't like when he calls Venom "Wa-Spider-Man-io", since Ben is Luigi, Venom is Wario, and Carnage is Waluigi to Peter's Mario.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Does anyone else feel that out of all Spidey's rogues, Mac Gargan the Scorpion really tends to get the short end of the stick in modern adaptations?
In Spectacular Spiderman he doesn't even get a pre-Scorpion cameo. Jackal, Hydro Man, Hobgoblin, Sin-Eater and Carnage at least popped up as their pre-supervillain selves. Mac gets namedropped by Osborn once.
In Ultimate Spiderman the Scorpion isn't even Mac, just a rando rival to Iron Fist.
In Spider Man 2017 Scorpion is a random super-thug with no character.
Spiderman Homecoming does have Gargan show up, but his Scorpion alter ego is only teased at and still not followed up on, like the Leader in the 2008 Hulk movie.
The closest we've got to a descent animated Scorpion is Into The Spiderverse, for what little screentime he's got. I kinda hope someone makes a spin-off comic or something so we can get more backstory to Mexican cyborg Mac.
All witches, all skeletons, all jack O Lanterns, gather round your TV set, put on your masks, and watch...watch the magic pumpkin, Watch...ITSV Scorpion is still a random thug - I'd say Spider-man TAS did the best Scorpion, having Gargan appear even giving him a small role to develop him prior to his transformation. He even beats Spider-man in his first appearance, and would have in their second fight without Jameson's help.
They also keep Jameson being the one behind his transformation, and Scorpion wanting revenge to him.
Yeah. Spiderman TAS Scorpion was a pretty good Scorpion but that's because he was pretty close to his classic self.
It's actually been a while since we've seen his proper origin or his hatred of Jameson in animation. As pointed out, the last few Spidey series either never used him, never got to him, or changed him completely.
And now a thought: Has Peter ever fought the Brotherhood of Mutants?
It just popped into my head since he's fought damn near everybody at some point.
One Strip! One Strip!I only know of one time...
When he faced off against Dr. Magneto....
I mean, when they met during Acts of Vengeance.
One Strip! One Strip!Normally Spidey is too busy beating up the X-men to go after the Brotherhood.
But he fought them in Darkhawk 19 & 20, as a crossover with whoever the hell Darkhawk is. Apparently he also fought them alongside X-Force, but the only crossover I can find with Spidey and X-Force is against Juggernaut alone
Spidey also fights them in Renew Your Vows (the series, when he visits the X-men) and the old Amazing Friends cartoon.
I sorta liked how Marvel Knights Spider-Man had Gargan kidnap Aunt May on Osborn's orders, and then when he and Peter meet in regular clothes in the city to discuss terms, Peter doesn't even recognize Gargan by face or voice, and Gargan laments what an afterthought villain he's become. And then he became the new Venom, of course.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Darkhawk is this guy who bodyswaps with a Shi’ar walking robotic warcrime thanks to a magic gem he found that fused to him
He was slightly popular for a short while and since has bounced between spurts of activity whenever anyone remembers him but mostly in less than complimentary ways
Like being put in Avengers Arena only to get taken out to give someone else a powerup when they found the magic gem

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI believe him, Nova, and Speedball (the latter two, both joining the New Warriors, who've worked with Peter multiple times, and the former, who I think was a reserve member later on) was all attempts at a new Spider-Man.
One Strip! One Strip!Marvel kind of has a Pikachu situation going on with Spider-Man. A lot of attempts to recapture the lightning in the bottle that fall flat. And its the one they don't expect to be super popular that is.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpeedball, I think, was reasonably popular before Civil War
After that... He has his appearances but he has his dork age hanging over him in a heavy way. Doesn't help that New Warriors is also hurting for appearances and that's where he's likeliest to appear.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

You know it's bad when people prefer a character gone rather than Marvel ruining them.
