This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

You're all going to be so surprised when the big villain ends up being Hypno Hustler.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I've been feeling like the timeline's been off for a while. MJ dumps Peter, gets with Paul, becomes close enough to Paul's kids that they call her "Mom," and realizes Paul is a jerk but is still close enough to the kids to play Love Martyr for their sake... all in under half a year?

Hypno Hustler and the Big Wheel as a Big Bad Duumvirate? I'd buy that.

Wait, when did MJ notice Paul is a jerk? I've only really been tracking Mary Jane & Black Cat, so I miss a lot of stuff.
As for six months, Mary Jane & Black Cat #2 suggests Mary Jane has been "away" for more than six months. There's discussion about this on the previous page, actually.

Big Wheel will actually be the ultimate villain in Aaron's Avengers run.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Totally waiting to see the train wreck when Marvel has to get rid off the kids. Like no way they make Spider-Man a step dad with corporate mandates.
Let’s see clone degeneration, demons in disguise by Mephisto, Androids by Mysterio, or maybe just sent away to a bus?
Like after seeing the train wreck that was Spencer’s run ending, I say bring on the madness.
There’s no hope of the marriage coming back.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Ok, NOW I'm interested in that arc.
More seriously, given all the Spider-Verse variants, has anyone played with the idea that the joke characters in Spider-Man's rogues gallery may be the deadly ones for some of his variants, and vice versa? Prompted by the main Earth-616 version of Ghost-Spider's Bodega Bandit turning up the other day.
I like the idea that there's a universe out there where the Hypno Hustler is mentioned in the same tones of horror as the Purple Man, or the Walrus is a Tombstone-style badass crimelord.
For that matter, I still want to see the story where an alternate NYC's wisecracking acrobatic hero is Grasshopper, who has a long and heroic history and saved the world at least once... and everyone reacts to meeting Spider-Man with worried concern, as they all know that name is jinxed and the poor guy is surely doomed.

Well, you could just read "The Lost Hunt", Peter and MJ are married in it and it's set in 616 pre-0MD, and pre-Revelations too. There's been some interesting speculation about this series, as Dematteis is hinting that it might have a twist ending.
I'm of the opinion the marriage has to be gone to 'come back', it's never actually been away, it was kept alive throughout the last decade via other universes

I think there is some value in thinking that if current 616 Peter and MJ aren't married then it doesn't count as much, even if we have gotten good married Peter/MJ content through side series and alt universes.
Speaking of relationships, I remember seeing a prompt elsewhere and it tickled my fancy. If you were going to assemble a team made up entirely of Peter's love interests for a short side series or one-shot, who would you pick?
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.Black Cat and Mary Jane are a must. His two most iconic love interests and they have a fun dynamic together

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHang on, I figured out who I was referring to earlier. If a variant cover in some future solicitations is correct, the newest reason why Peter's life has gone to hell might be because of Wayep, the Mayan god of bad luck.
The marriage will probably never come back, but if I was a smart writer wanting to bring it back, I would have Wayep taking advantage of Mephisto's time with the Avengers to mess around with his favorite accomplishment: the Spider-Man. And Mephisto won't like it because A, Peter Parker's soul is his to play with and I'm pretty sure most gods hate each other by default anyway.
It might send a bad message to kids.
But shit, I was a kid when I read the stories there, and a lot of the stuff I read was not appropriate for kids. Like Sins Past. Thankfully kid me did not know where babies came from back then.
But I legit stopped reading BND and Spider-Man 616 in general was that Peter was starting to be unlikeable and doing shit like flirting and making out with rando girls at a club, and dark shit like Lizard graphically eating his own son.
But shit, doesn't Marvel have all sorts of couples who divorced like Hank Pym and Janet?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Janet and Hank, T'Challa and Storm (actually he annulled the marriage which is like super divorce), Scarlet Witch and Vision, Quicksilver and Crystal. The list probably goes on.
If you're not Reed/Sue or lately Luke/Jessica and you get married, you're probably going to get a divorce or your spouse will die or turn out to not be your spouse.

But you'll also get back together, repeatedly, because writers always want to write the relationships they liked when they were kids. Hey, didn't Ben and Alicia get married recently? They certainly had their share of on-again-off-again.
Did Scott ever divorce Madelyne? Originally her conveniently dying conveniently let him off the hook. But then she kept coming back to life, not unlike Jean. So... she and Scott ever untie the knot?
One of the off-agains was when Ben ghosted her by deciding to stay on Battleworld and she started dating Johnny since he actually seemed to want to spend time around her. Of course, a lot of writers didn't like that because of the iconic relationship thing so it turned out Alicia was a Skrull who stole Alicia's life annnnnd Johnny was just okay with this.

Yeah, shit like Alicia being a Skrull in order to put her back with Ben are what I mean. So often, writers just keep going back to the same relationships, over and over and over. Ant-Man and Wasp got back together a couple times. Havok and Polaris routinely hook back up. Captain America and Agent 13. Bruce Banner and Betty Ross. Kate Pryde and Colossus. Shit, even Sue and Namor are always having their little mutual attraction showing up. And, of course, Spider-Man back with Black Cat, just like back in the '80s.
It all goes back to too many writers not being able to move on from what they grew up with, and instead wallowing in nostalgia.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.

Oh boy, I wonder what contrivance the writers will pull off to get rid of the kids as soon as the current drama is over.
I personally think this is all a Mephisto plot.
