This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

They go to the same clubs I know and yell at the same waiters I assume
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah Norman is a member of a club that Jameson owns.
It's a more traditional sort of Gentleman's club. Hell, Ditko actually planted Norman as a club member to better establish him as a character before revealing him to be the Green Goblin.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Everytime we go back to Spidey's early days, there's always a retcon.
Silk being one of the worst example in recent memory. Thanks Slott.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah but King was a one-off villain.
Silk was promoted back in the day as Spider-Man's new love interest and partner in fighting crime, and her backstory just reeks of bad fanfiction.
Like she just HAPPENS to be bitten by the same spider and Ezekiel just HAPPENED to find her and only her to isolate from Morlun. Among more reasons.
Not helped that Slott had a habit of introducing new characters in Spidey's early days like Clash that got really jarring after a while.
Like I'm glad she's better handled under different writers and she has a cool costume, but she did give me the creeps back in the day.

I loved the story about the guy who ate the spider. He saw Peter get bit and then jump fifty feet in the air and thought, "Well, if the spider's too dead to bite me, then I'm gonna eat the spider." Spider-Man's Tangled Web also had that great issue where Vulture, Alyosha Kraven, and Norman hang out in The Bar With No Name and talk shop. I also liked the one about the cabbie who knew Spidey's identity and was tempted to sell the info.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]The weirdest part about it is that it's Kraven Jr. I don't think of the Kravens as supervillains so much as people who just want to kill Spider-Man. He's written in a fun way in that issue, though.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]What's even weirder is that Kraven Jr. was one of the characters who got used in Beyond, that miniseries from '04 where a bunch of characters got put on Battleworld or something and had to fight to the death. It's pretty mediocre overall and mostly just sets up big important things for Gravity that never went anywhere. The group was Spider-Man, Venom (Gargan), Hank Pym, Wasp, Medusa, Firebird, the Hood, Gravity, and... Kraven Jr. Why were people trying to make Kraven's son happen? What if Kraven... was a movie producer? So does it even matter that he's Kraven's kid?

I've talked about that mini on here before. The main antagonists are a pair of guys who are very, very clearly meant to be Weinstein stand-ins, who end up raping Kraven, Jr.'s girlfriend as an attempted show of dominance over him. It's gross! But wait! It somehow gets worse!
To punish them, Kraven, Jr. literally emasculates them by cutting off their dicks. As a result, the two gross men then decide to wear dresses. Because, I guess, losing your dick automatically makes you a woman. Yeah, just some weird, random-ass transphobia thrown in right at the very end.
It wasn't a great mini, but it had its charms. It was mildly amusing as a commentary on Hollywood. And then we get rape and transphobia. Ruins the whole mini.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I remember that period where they were trying to make Gravity happen

Ah yes, in the grand Marvel tradition of trying to recapture the magic of Ditko Spider-Man. They tried Nova. They tried Speedball. They tried Darkhawk. Eventually they just went back to the well and found success with Ultimate Spider-Man (and Spider-Girl, to a much lesser extent.) And then they tried Nova again, and Ultimate Spider-Man again, and Ms. Marvel. Araña was in the mix for a while too. Gravity ended up being on the Young Allies iirc, otherwise known as "the team that Firestar was too good for".
If I remember right, the Gravity creative team went on to do a lot of Marvel Adventures Spider-Man.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Speedballl caused a horrible tragedy.
......which Peter has also recently caused....so retroactive success?
Also, we do have Kamala Khan for a successful new Spiderman.
One Strip! One Strip!Feels like her star has faded though. She doesn’t have an ongoing anymore and her flagship team has become event fodder
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYes but at least her team got to tell their side of the event.
Recall how the newest New Warriors got silently cancelled before it even came out, due to the bad press, with COVID ultimately just being the excuse they used to do so.
One Strip! One Strip!Being covid cancelled instead of being in outlawed more than the bare minimum seems like a win honestly
My overall point though is that Kamala was the big new thing for a while but after the original creative team marvel has fumbled the ball hard and doesn’t seem to know what to do with her anymore
