This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Who would've guessed that I'd see an Armor-Piercing Question be used unironically in a thread?
But yeah, whatever Paul's deal happens to be, it feels like it spells trouble for Peter. (Again, Paul was the one fantasizing about beating Peter to a pulp.)
If Peter and Black Cat got together pre-superior or something it wouldn't be a rebound because Peter wasn't really with anyone and there are no hangups.
Showing MJ with a new guy who's very shady and explaining nothing about him, and showing Peter actively wanting to communicate with MJ and not being allowed to means that the Black Cat romance comes off as an afterthought no matter how hard Doc Ock's tentacles watch them make out.

How is he controlling her? Beyond "don't hang out with your ex," what's Paul done to MJ? As someone who lives with his ex, I'm not inclined towards sympathy for anyone who tries to forbid their partner from staying friends with an ex, but even so, if that's the worst Paul's done, then I'm not really seeing much cause for concern.
As for whether Peter should step back - kinda, yeah. Shit, even if Paul's been actually abusive to MJ, there's only so much Peter can really do. If MJ doesn't want his help, then his options are pretty limited. Forcing his way into matters is probably only going to piss her off, since he'd be ignoring the boundaries she's set. And, again, if the worst thing Paul's done to MJ is tell her not to hang out with Peter? Not exactly the kinda thing that tingles the ol' Spider-sense.
So, yeah, the most responsible choice for Peter to make actually is to respect MJ's boundaries, make sure she knows he'll always be there for, and move on with his own life.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. We still don't know the context of that panel of Paul seemingly attacking Peter.
The idea that he's fantasizing about it is fan speculation. When I read the issue, it seemed more straightforwardly like a flashback showing a previous altercation (and why Peter is looking "much better" in the present day). It just seems to be part of the mystery plot of Peter screwing things up, and why he can't talk to MJ anymore.

#1 with Powerless Pete, and preggers MJ.
Tiamatty, MJ was going to tell Peter something before Paul interrupted her, she's been seen hiding in closets when communicating with Peter by phone, she seems more hung up on her 'responsibilities' to Paul than confessing she's staying with him out of love when Peter calls her out on it.
She's being controlled, and you expect Peter to 'respect' her boundaries when he's worried sick about what could be justifying her behaviour? No, I don't think so. Peter should be investigating this. Hell, maybe that's what he WAS doing and that's what triggered Paul's violent outburst on him. Peter still isn't in the right frame of mind, and no, it's also evident from reading the book he's not over MJ and therefore CANNOT 'move on with his life', as he's just using Felicia as a rebound until such time as he works through his feelings.
We all know he and MJ won't move on, everything set up by this is designed to artificially keep them apart, and they'll be back together, so I don't see the point in desiring him to set up a flawed relationship with Felicia that is built on an unhealthy foundation. Peter should fight for MJ, she's his true love and we both know it.

Peter refers to Anya as Spider-Girl, but she corrects him and tells him she's Arana again.
I've actually been reading the old Arana series. It was really good.

Kafka/Queen Goblin was behind both Ned and Kingsley being brainwashed by the Winkler machine, she also supplied Norman with the laptop in the hospital knowing he would watch the fight and would want to get involved. He did so as Gold Goblin and came close to killing the Hobbies, until Peter intervened. Kafka believes Norman is one step closer to returning to his sinful ways. Peter was brutalised and unmasked, but I doubt either Kingsley or Leeds will remember who he is because they're brainwashed

A spider man tradition honored, I guess
Forever liveblogging the AvengersLost Hunt#1
Peter's being haunted by visions of his greatest enemies and isn't coping with the loss of his powers. He's begun to retreat, cutting himself off even from a pregnant and emotionally vulnerable Mary Jane, who is having trouble adjusting to life away from her friends and family. MJ's taken to teaching kids all about drama as a way of coping. Peter later meets Tracy Maxba, an award winning travelling lecturer, while the source of Peter's troubling dreams, Kraven's mentor Gregor, conspires to hunt down and eliminate 'The Spider'. Peter is mentally broken by Gregor and finds solace in Mary Jane's arms
Notes from "End of Spider-Verse" part two
The Baby Inheritors were all murdered by an infected Spider-Ma'am. Morlun attacked her so I presume she's been consumed by him?
Morlun also claims another victim. RIP Amalgam's Spider-Boy
I thought 'Earth 616 Beta' was going to be revealed as the newspaper strip reality since it too was hidden from detection in the first Spider-Verse story, but it's apparently a trial version of the traditional Marvel universe that we didn't know about?
The cliffhanger, revealing the 'whole' Spider-Verse, sans Peter's team, had been infected, included a Scarlet Spider variant, but no sign of Annie's parents. I mean, I know Peter wouldn't stand out at all because he wears the traditional Spidey costume and would not have been distinct enough, but surely they could have included MJ as Spinerett

Meanwhile, Ghost Spider gets another mini in 2023
, she's facing off against clones of herself that have been given the powers of all of Peter's villains.
I'm beginning to think those running variant cover marketing have more say in plotlines than writers

...Wait a minute.
How is it that we're not seeing Peter investigating Paul? Like, a lot of my grievances over this run could be forgiven if we actually saw somebody investigating Paul. I mean, all we know about the guy is that he has two kids, one who looks creepily like a young MJ, apparently has anger problems that lead to him fantasizing about beating up Peter at least once. That's just begging for an "investigating the OC" arc!
Come on, Marvel and Zeb Wells! Use this! We have to know! Who the actual hell is Paul?!?
