This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Wait, which manga are you referring to? I assume it's not the Marvel Mangaverse series, right?
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Written by Kazumasa Hirai (Wolf Guy), and with art by Ryoichi Ikegami.
We have a page for it, incidentally. Which, until I discovered it, was entirely maintained by a single person, and as such is in dire need of some wiki magic love.

You know, i would love to hear how non american fans view Spider-Man after seeing the Mexican fandom news here. I remember back in school, i had a Chinese classmate who was into Captain America but a bit insecure at how he was primarily aimed at Americans.(Hence the name) i hear a lot from my friends from other countries that they feel Marvel and DC feel primarily aimed at Americans at the cost of foreign audiences(well yeah) So i guess those Mexican and Japanese cultural translations of Spidey are meant to fix that?
Also i guess Green Goblin is the Mexican fandom's worst enemy.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.[is reminded of the infamous Three Dev Adam, as covered by I-Mockery here]
The Protomen enhanced my life.I feel like Spidey's appeal translates a bit better. As a kid I was, like, honestly surprised I actually liked Captain America given... you, know, Captain America. Thankfully I never read Ultimate stuff.
It should be noted the issue where Mexico Peter "marries" Gwen is in fact a hallucination. For some reason, I got involved in a heated argument with some idiot who thought I meant the entire collection of Mexican Spidey issues with Gwen was a hallucination.
Yeah, many of those issue end with "it was a dream/hallucination" in order to not mess with the real continuity. The ones that don't were simply ignored in the reprints.
As far as how Spider-Man is perceived in Mexico, I wouldn't say is that different. He's one of the most popular superheroes. Is kinda funny since most of the popular heroes in Mexico tend to be uber macho that can fall under the anti-hero category (Batman, Wolverine, Punisher etc.), with him perhaps being the exception. This comics weren't really different; they were still set in America, everyone were still American, and I don't think there was a single reference to Mexico in any issue. For that matter, characters trying to appeal to the Mexican audience like Spider-Man 2099 and Anya Corazón aren't particularly popular. Miguel perhaps has it's fans, Anya is just downright obscure.
I wouldn't say the mexican fandom has any hang-up on Gwen. Outside of the fact that in latino culture a blonde, blue-eyed, white woman is generally perceived as the ultimate standard of female beauty, I don't think most fandom treats Gwen any different than the american fans do.

May solicitations seem to indicate they'll be fatalities in the "Hunted" event and there's at least one aftermath issue dealing with the fallout and the effect it has on Peter's life.
Reed's really putting that doctorate to use◊.
Lots of odd retcons, like Eddie never had a sister, uncle or even cancer, it was just the symbiote mind-fucking him and causing psychosomatic symptoms (hue) because it was crazy and clingy like that. Also, it's been faking being brain dead and Dylan isn't Eddie's half-brother, he's his son.
Well, fuck all of the character development the Symbiote got in Flash's run, I guess...
My various fanfics. And Eddie's too for that matter...
To me, it was that period that make him interesting.
What the hell
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhat is it about Symbiotes that just makes every new writer just come along and toss previous stuff out the window? Even by Big 2 standards, this is ridiculous.
Eddie Brock has a son? WHAT? his entire life was a lie? Can someone clarify?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Firstly that's not Reed Richards Prime, that's the Maker. Who's basically Reed if he was Dr. Doom's and Rick Sanchez's love child.
I think much like ITSV, people need to see Venom (2018) and decide that THIS is Brock/Symbiote from now on.
Yeah i guessed that was Dr. Doom of the Ultimate verse. Something about that Richards gave of that vibe.
To be fair, the Venom of the Sony movie was based on how Venom originally acted, people forgot that, like i was probably one of the few who instantly recognized the langs pancreas so many snacks line instantly. Marvel really doesn't like letting movies affect the Comics aside from appearances in contrast to DC, For Example they are fine with demonizing OG White Nick Fury in favor of a Samuel L Jackson stand in but refuse to let Spidey keep organic webs outside of a publicity stunt phase.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. This is why I’ve never been able to take Venom seriously as a character let alone an iconic spider villain
They have almost no character consistency! Since day 1 Venom has been veering wildly based on what the writers are trying to do this week
Even the very first appearance of Venom as Venom is a hard swerve since the symbiote has previously sacrificed itself to save Peter and having done that decided “actually though.... years of revenge attempts sounds good too”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDavid Michelinie said that he wanted to develop Venom so every appearance and story of Venom that he did advanced the character and built him up and didn't repeat beats. Eventually Venom became so popular and merchandisable that he was going to have an ongoing series and Michelinie was against that. He saw Venom as a villain for Spider-Man and didn't like him becoming anti-hero. But eventually he saw how it was going so what he did was create Carnage as an irredeemable psycho version of Venom, had Spider-Man and Venom form a pact and Carnage would take the role that Venom was to play in Spider-Man's rogues.
Sircray
Ah, but how do we know that this isn't just the symbiote screwing with Eddie right now? Mind screw is weird that way.

I heard the Skottie Young Deadpool wasn't that good, so I'm not really that sad. I hope they give a new ongoing to Gail Simone, since she's been so awesome with Domino.
The Felicia thing is probably a reaction to Lois Lane getting an ongoing from DC, wish it were Mary Jane, but Felicia is a better fit for the Marvel world due to having a reason to be in the field.
This will be her first ongoing right? I know she's had some mini series that focused on her in the past.
Actually, it's still up for debate as to whether or not Marvel gave the go-ahead. While the Mexican publisher says they did, Marvel editorial has said otherwise. Might explain why it's never been collected before if they published it illegally (after all, Marvel previously translated that insane Spiderman manga).
