This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

It would have been more acceptable as a what if if they'd published it as a non canonical one shot but they put it out as an issue of the Amazing ongoing iirc.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.
And if they did have to include villains, maybe they should have at least left out the one villain (at the time, IIRC) who canonically smashed the Twin Towers himself For the Evulz some years beforehand.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryWell, that depends. If fans were criticizing writers on the letters' pages or some other manner of "direct" engagement, then I get being angry. Flawed or not, it was clearly done for emotional reasons more than anything else, and it quickly passed.
Now if the writers were angry because people on platforms such as this very forum were criticizing their comic book amongst themselves, well, that's stupid. Expecting people to be polite to you, personally, in your moment of mourning is fine. Expecting no one to express a contrary opinion anywhere at any time is foolish.
I honestly don't know the context behind the writers' responses, or even what those responses are, and with that lack of knowledge I'm prone to leaning either way.
Buldogue's lawyerI in no way blame the creators. They were grieving, and people were bitching about canon. It was one of those things where fans really should have just let it go. Was it silly to have Doom cry about the Twin Towers? Yeah, sure. But who fucking cares? Genuinely, why does it matter? Just take it for what it was: New Yorkers using their art to grieve.
"Juggernaut already destroyed the Twin Towers!" Yes, in a fictional story, but now the creators were dealing with fucking reality and trying to process some Very Heavy Shit. So fuck what the Juggernaut did. It doesn't matter what the Juggernaut did. It never mattered what the Juggernaut did, because he's a fictional character.
Complaints about that comic prove that sometimes, fandom is a mistake. I say this with all sincerity: People needed to shut the fuck up and let it go. Still do, it seems.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Honestly, it probably should have released as a separate comic, instead of interrupting actual books. People wouldn't think as much about canon if they didn't put it in the middle of two Spider-Man issues.
If you're so worried about reality maybe you shouldn't put the Juggernaut and Dr. Doom in it in the first place. If the intention is being true to real world issues maybe you should cut back on how many gratuitous fantastic elements you want to tug in.
Like, you don't need to bring those characters who don't really add anything in. You don't need to show Doom crying to say bombing buildings is a bad thing. You're overshooting.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.Oh dang he is.
The King in Black Amasses New Power To Reclaim His Throne in Knull #1
5 issue mini written by Ewing along with Tom Waltz, and art by Juanan Ramirez.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It doesn't feel like it's been that long since King in Black, why bring him back already?
Oh wait, I think I know why. Money.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."5-ish years is a pretty decent length of time for a character to stay dead before their inevitable revival. No expies or knockoffs or A Us to hold them I over either.
I kinda respect that.
#IceBearForPresidentThe romantic shit regarding MJ and Paul really made me hate the last run, so I'm enjoying the one a lot more, and it seems really promising. I'm actually excited to see Peter in space with Rocket. I know Spider-editorial doesn't play well with others, but maybe Spider-Man joins the Guardians of the Galaxy for an arc.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!Oh, the guardians exist again? They kinda got put on a bus after the lackluster Grootfall stuff
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell last I remember Guardians of the Galaxy (2023) put its toys back in the toy box, with everyone who was killed during Grootfall being resurrected. Idk what happened afterwards, so afaik unless Imperial broke them up they should be together.

It's gonna be fun on the bun!I read the latest issues with Spider-Norman, and I stand by what I said, he's a better leading man at this point than Peter.
I say this completely unironically. That's how badly Peter has been written these days.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Found this post of the latest issue and wow, there are so many spider-people.
Gwen, Spider-Boy, Miles, Anya, and Silk. 5 characters in all and thats not even the full total roster.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, it's genuinely interesting to see him actually being forced to feel guilt and try to actually be a good guy.
He's also a dude in his late 40s-50s with a grandson, and the death of his son on conscience, he's got a very unique POV that isn't really explored in comics.
Like fuck it, Peter has become a fucking farce at this point since Editorial will NEVER let their stranglehold go, so I've already long given up hope on him and following iconic good guy character Norman since his character arc has lasted a decent amount of time and he's actually developing.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"It always disappoints me when comics give interesting face turn arcs to characters who will obviously never stay good, yeah. These things are better when given to characters who could believably stay good or evil, so you don’t know for sure if it’s going to stick.
Granted, comics rarely commit to those either. Though admittedly Marvel is way better about doing that than DC is.

If you get Doom and Magneto involved and angry, then either Earth-616's fictionalised al-Qaeda abruptly ceases to exist, or they need a reason that doesn't happen. Such as their own superhumans.
Which is more or less how Marvel and DC handled WW2, but it's much easier to do that when looking back at a war that safely ended a long time ago.
Some of the early Iron Man villains were linked to Vietnam, but that always seemed to land more awkwardly than the Axis villains and the cold warUSSR assets.
