This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Yeah. Him and his dad jumped. His mom, who was previously dead, jumped. So did Ganke and his (also previously dead) Uncle, and even the Bombshells.
I think everyone Miles was close to back in the old world made the jump with him.
One Strip! One Strip!Even discounting the real life reasons, it still kinda makes sense for Miles. Death of a whole universe is a lot to grasp, he's got all his loved ones with him, and he even got his mom and uncle back. I don’t blame Miles for not dwelling on just how much he lucked out.
#IceBearForPresidentAnd he has Billie and Shift to help him cope, too. They weren't from the original universe.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Back on the main series, it's interesting that no one is talking about the run after the shock of Itsy Bitsy, like I gave it a chance and bounced out.
At least with the Wells run we had Paul.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"So on that note, I read the latest issue that came out this week. Hellgate wants to parlay with Spider-Man, who he calls "Prince of Steelsilk. Spidey tells him to wait while he and Black Cat deals with some of Hobgoblin's mooks. Black Cat tells Spidey should deal with Hellgate first, and then Hellgate kills all the mooks. A fight starts where Spidey leads Hellgate away, noting his webs can't stop him. There are three jumps to the archeologist from the beginning of the run arriving to Manhattan, Jameson noticing the fight while reading newspapers at his home, and some guy with glowing lines all over his body and shield deciding to go to the battle spread through out the battle. Spidey eventually manages to freeze him with liquid nitrogen in Central Park. After a quiet scene Hellgate breaks free from the ice, and asks to see more , ending the issue.
Definitely a decent start to this arc. I'm wondering what the text font used for Hellgate is because I don't recognize it. A highlight from the issue would be Black Cat using on Hellgate, telling Spidey to run. I don't remember if it was brought up yet, but a new Black Cat series is spinning out of this run.
On that subject the retcon ending appears to have done away with Gwen's power loss and symbiote replacement so Gwenom is no more.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Why would she even get rid of the symbiote? If she has her powers back wouldn't it just augment them?
It's gonna be fun on the bun!I'm not the biggest Spider-Gwen fan to begin with, but Amazing Spider-Girl ran pretty long without interacting with 616, and made far less use of Alternate Self too. I don't get why Spider-Gwen can't just do the same thing. Super hero comic sales are getting slightly better as the 2020s chug along, so what gives?
If Spider-Gwen's just not popular enough to support her own book in her own setting, again, that's probably because so much of her setting is populated by doppelgangers. Maybe not, but I don't know, try something new? Pushing her into 616? It's not enough spider people, and maybe I'm not the best judge, but Spider-Gwen brings nothing to the setting in my eyes except an admittedly distinctive costume, but a costume I don't actually like all that much, especially when it's not a symbiote. Silk's got a stupider costume, but as far as I'm concerned she's a more interesting character. Gwen Stacy was never that interesting, and Spider-Gwen, being Gwen Stacy In Name Only, is most interesting in the context she got bit and Peter Parker died. Putting her in the same place as Peter Park, that kind of defeats the point for me. And there's the clone "Chasm", and the stronger clone Kaine, and the spider web spitting fairy, and the giant spider Goddess, and the Ultimate Spider successor Miles. And the ex girlfriend Venom. And Bailey the Spider-kick. Send Spider-Gwen back home, she aint needed. If her home isn't interesting enough, make it more interesting!
I still haven't forgiven Marvel for stripping everything that was distinctive about Arana away, but at least they were merciful enough to send the mess that was made of her character out of the 616 setting. Gwen would still be better off, with her own separate Amazing Spider-Girl type book
Buldogue's lawyerWe’re really witnessing the end of 616, and the collapse of the Spider-Man universe. They’re trying to squeeze every last drop out of it, make as much money as they can, and hope to keep their jobs for another couple of years. There’s no coherence left, no real editors anymore. Two or three Gwen Stacys, a dozen Spider-Men…
They just don’t care.
Once again, it’s what I was saying elsewhere: the problem is short-term capitalism.Sales probably aren’t meeting expectations, so they’re thinking about how the bosses and shareholders will react.Instead of building something solid, like developing one Gwen Stacy in her own universe with good writers and coherent storytelling, they go for the cheap and easy path, even though it has zero chance of working long-term.
Just hit the numbers, fast and low-cost.
Honestly, I thought that after all the editor layoffs, DC would be the one falling apart ; but lately, Marvel is outdoing everyone in pure nonsense. Apart from Ultimate Spider-Man, there’s nothing in the spider-universe that actually works or feels authentic anymore.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I just know they'll try to shove Neo Ultimate Pete's kids into 616 eventually.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Peter does have an evil clone daughter right now.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"....Don't give Marvel ideas.
Ironically enough, bringing Miles into the main verse does make Peter look older. He's roughly 28 now right?
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"

So Miles doesn't care about his own universe? Not having an existential crisis or anything?
Well the Marvel brand demands he doesn't.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
