A bit of an update: they really are making a new Starfox game, and that was NOT a tech demo but actual gameplay... it's just in a very early alpha-state so far. Link Here
The Gamespot staff are reporting that some folks are now being allowed to play with the alpha since it was leaked, and it seems to have a heavier focus on the all-range mode dogfighting and multiplayer. Other vehicles including the Landmaster tank will be playable, and the Arwing and Wolfen fighters reportedly handled differently from each other as well. There will also be other game modes as well an a single-player campaign too, but the exact implementation is up for debate.
Only thing that I'm not liking though is that while Shigeru Miyamoto will be in charge of the developing the game, they're trying to rush it out to be ready by early spring of next year. That's only 8 months away... kind of a tight schedule.
The new Star Fox game is actually made by Nintendo EAD? Oh, thank God!

"Miyamoto has stated that Project Guard and Project Giant Robot could all potentially be part of the next Star Fox game. Mr. Miyamoto isn't sure if that's the direction things will go just yet, but that didn't stop him from throwing in some Star Fox branding into his E3 demos. We already talked about this detail, but now you can get a look at the Star Fox logo in Project Guard above."
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHa! I knew I wasn't imagining things when I saw that!
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Hmm. Interesting. A little hesitant about the All-Range Mode thing considering that one game. I'll look forward to more info, though. i rather like Star Fox, and I think the series has potential.
A quick thought:
Having Captain Falcon be an unlockable pilot would be the best thing.

Just the simple fact that we're finally getting a new Star Fox game is the best thing.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!New game is better than no game. New game has a chance to be great. Can't happen if we get no game.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! The only big concern I have right now is that they're trying to get this out by early 2015, despite the footage we've seen at E3 being most of what they have working right now.
And as I stated before, the biggest upside to this is that Miyamoto will be working on the game himself, which bodes well in terms of the "fun factor" (by his own admission that's always the single biggest concern for him, not world building, graphics or anything else).
@zeromaeus: Don't worry about it. This one's not farmed out to another studio; it's being made by Nintendo EAD, the AAA team of Nintendo.

They made the Mario Galaxy games, right?
If I am correct, then I am 99% sure that this will be great.
Sales will be an issue, because it seems like anything that is not Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon doesn't get purchased by casual fans. Die Hard fans will purchase pretty much anything that interests them. And Nintendo has been making a lot of good games, so it will be great.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!
EAD also made the good Star Fox games, not the average-to-bad ones from the Sixth Generation onwards.
I wouldn't say that. Namco made Star Fox: Assault and I thought that game was great.

Yeah, I thought the Gamecube games were pretty good. I personally can't see the hate for them other than Fox actually getting out of the Arwing, even though he did just that in SSB64 and SSBM
Star Fox is fun because it's mostly a rail-shooter and I happen to LOVE that genre.Half of Star Fox Assault was NOT rail-shooter segments and that was boring.I wouldn't mind on-foot missions as long as they were done like Sin & Punishment(man, there is not enough games like Sin & Punishments in this world.I really hope that Saber Rider and The Star Sheriffs game becomes reality one day and becomes a worthy Sin & Punishment game.)
Didn't like Adventures, found Assault average. In any case, they're definitely not as good as the EAD games.

EAD and Argonaut both made the SNES and N64 Star Fox titles together.
Rare made Adventures.
Namco made Assault.
Q Games made Command. (Q Games was made up of former Argonaut employees.)
EAD and Q Games made the remake of Star Fox 64.

No I don't think they did.
Nintendo is sometimes referred to as EAD because that is the core team it used to be called R&D4 but it became EAD which stands for Entertainment Analysis and Development.

It's a shame they didn't do anything, I was hoping they'd have done something like what they did for Kirby and put a collection out for Wii U or something.

But at least it'd be coming.
And that's all that matters. After all this time, I'd be fine even with a "bad" game, like everybody called Other M. ;p
