Ok, just to clarify, since there's apparently some confusion going on here. The statement is: There should be a Cthulhu Mythos character page. The question is: Which characters do we start with adding, do we limit it to purely Lovecraft stuff or is Dereleth and post-Dereleth also fair game, etc.

Liveblog | DeadblogIt caught your attention, didn't it?
Anyway, does anyone know how to create a character page?
"He could not know it. For it was not all a joke."Re: Lovecraft/Derleth/etc: I would suggest dividing the page into three secions: Lovecraft Deities, Derleth and Contemporary Deities (So all the ones made by Lovecraft's friends— Derleth, Smith, Bloch, Howard, etc— basically), and Post-Derleth Deities for all the ones that have been introduced since. Of which there are admittedly very few (compared to the first two categories, anyway).

Well, if one doesn't count Campbell's contributions to the Mythos, which were fairly massive, albeit not so much as the combined efforts of Smith, Derleth, etc. Lumley has a decent share, too, though I'm not much of a fan of his work (too Black and White where it should be Blue and Orange).
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. He was inspired by, for example, The King In Yellow and The Gods Of Pegana, but that mostly consisted of borrowing some names. There's even less continuity between those and Lovecraft than there is afterward.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.I never remember that one because I haven't read it and know little about it.
It could be considered part of it, albeit in the same way that Ligotti's "Nethescurial" is a Mythos story: Because it feels like one.
Plus, there's the Nodens reference.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. It's the same feel, but the mythos is a (vaguely) defined set of entities within one particular set of cosmic horror stories, not every Eldritch Abomination there is.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.That's why I brought up the significance of the reference to Nodens on the pillar: It was made canon by Lovecraft's inclusion of the entity implied. But whatever.
How about we simply add in entities (sorted by author) based upon the overt inclusion by the author of the story into the Mythos? Admittedly, this becomes somewhat problematic with the inclusion of functional canon works like Ramsey Campbell's "The Voice of the Beach" (which Word of God declared to be a Mythos story but mentions no deity directly by name) or T.E.D. Klein's "Children of the Kingdom" (same basic universe as "Black Man with a Horn", which is overtly Mythos-based), but in general this model could prove quite sound.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. We could use some character pics. If possible, if we can find/if we're allowed to use, I'd suggest the art used for Arkham Horror. It's a very nice, single-artist/style collection for a large number of Mythos beings. There is a crapton of art for the Mythos which does range from hideously great to hilariously goofy.
But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you.

Any idea where we should start? It really does need a Character page.
