Rune Fencers are only good as frontline healers, but Knights beat them at that anyway.
If you change your mind, you might wanna use a beast master to recruit an Octopus or Gryphon though. Those are very useful.

Umbran Climax◊Don't forget that Rune Fencers automatically can walk through water and have fairly good movement ranges. I wouldn't be using them for the rest of the game, but they're useful for the second chapter, when you have to deal with the swampy terrain and aqueducts.
Right now, I'm on the third chapter. Currently, my team consists of: Two ninjas, two mages, two clerics, a rogue, a knight, an archer, and a beast tamer (who I'll probably be switching to something else soon). I have a dragon now, but I don't really have anyone I'm up to sacrificing to put him in.
Rune Fencer's natural swimming is superfluous when you already own an Octopus and Flood Dragon.
Item crafting just got unlocked and... what the heck? It takes a ridiculous amount of time to get all the materials to craft just a single item... considering I have 12 people in my party it would probably take an hour and a half to kit them all out. Is it really worth it and/or does it ever get easier?
I have an aversion to having monsters in my party... dunno why, it just seems weird.
Stop being racist to Beasts. They've lived here just as long as anyone else. I love my Arc and Dark dragons.
Also Crafting is supposed to be done rarely, not for every party member.
A Rogue's steal ability tends to get different kinds of Ingots, so I don't have to go through the process of refining ores to get them. Granted so far it's just been Bronze and Iron.

Umbran Climax◊Is there any way to safe Arycelle in the Chaos path or am I just wasting my time trying to let her survive? So far it could be a Luck-Based Mission but I'm not sure. EDIT: OK, finally got her alive now.

I HAVE ALL THE DRAGONS! *dances*
(I'm assuming that a) there's a dragon for every school of magic in this game, and b) there's no War Dance dragon, ninjitsu dragon, or draconic dragon.)
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117OK, I'm officially done with this game. I'm midway through chapter 3. The sheer tedium required to do anything is driving me insane. I'm constantly broke so can't afford to use items to heal my characters (magic is useless). I know there are ways of making money involving recruiting or taming monsters, and have no intention of:
- Spending multiple battles gaining enough SP to learn a bunch of recruiting skills
- Getting into a battle and *almost* killing enemies
- Waiting 5 or 6 turns until I have enough TP to try and recruit them
- Try and fail to recruit them
- Sell off all their equipment, giving me enough money to buy maybe 1 piece of equipment for me, or 4 or 5 healing items
I'm at Mt. Weobry and have to "destroy all enemies" - despite *starting out* outnumbered and enemies continually getting reinforcements. It takes forty-five minutes to realize I'm getting destroyed. I tried three times before nearly throwing my PSP against the wall.
I'm just annoyed because I know that I *could* beat this battle if I spent another five hours gaining money and skills necessary to do so. I just really don't have the patience.
Why the hell couldn't they just have battles give you money automatically like Final Fantasy Tactics did? I am so freaking annoyed right now.

There is one for each magical element, and a Hydra(which is non-elemental).
Why not just sell all your old armor and weapons?
I didn't think it was possible to actually run out of money in this game.
Also, do you have items in your inventory called Copper/Bronze/Silver/Gold Oberyth? Because those should always be sold.
Umbran Climax◊Yes, I always sell them, and I'm still broke.
I don't sell my old armor, because inevitably I have low-level classes that I end up having to level up, and I just have to go back and buy it again otherwise. I sell everything else. I've had plenty of battles in which I get almost no spoils at all, just a lousy buckler or something (particularly those involving undead, considering I have only one cleric with Exorcise).
Really? If you're on chapter 3 you should be getting a good amount of free equips as loot.
Unless you're letting enemies pick it up before you finish the battle.
Umbran Climax◊I don't "let" them do anything, and they don't pick it up that often (when they do it's insanely annoying - why on earth would they allow that?) And every so often I'll get a decent piece of equipment, like a Baldur Armor. But almost never a decent weapon, and generally no more than one or two pieces per baggie (if that). Every three or four battles I'll get some cash but rarely more than 3-4000 worth.
Have you gone to the Wildwood?
It gains new areas in every subsequent chapter.

Umbran Climax◊Jotun: So I got one more Dragon to get. *evil grin*
Cid: I keep reading your posts, hoping I'll see something you're doing wrong, but so far nada. I will say that recruiting monsters just to auction them off is more trouble than it's worth; you'll only get 3k goth or so per beastie. And healing magic is much cheaper than healing items; you wanna conserve goth, start tossing spells at your wounded.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Yes, I've gone to the Wildwood twice so far. First time I got murdered by dragons, second time I went the other route as far as I could go.
The problem with healing magic is: 1) Have to wait for MP to rise up, or waste turns using MP-restoring items; 2) the strongest healing spell I have heals for 60 HP, when my characters have upwards of 200 HP now, and buyable items heal for 125.
Mother's Blessing is an active skill that doubles the effectiveness of healing magic(it requires 40 or 50 TP though).
Also healing magic has a better range than healing items, even with a lobber.
As for magic restoration items, always use them on your first few turns. It's not as if you'll be casting any healing spells at the beginning of a battle anyway.

Umbran Climax◊
Magic Leaf +2(75 MP) lasts a long time since you are still recharging magic every turn(around 5 to 10 points per turn). There is also a skill that slightly increases the amount of magic regained every turn.
Too bad Clerics can't learn Meditate, though.
Umbran Climax◊Can't learn it or use it. But there are some skills helpful to some classes that they can't learn but can use. Dragoons can use tame, for example, but they can't learn it. Helpful for collecting and auctioning off dragons for..........but perhaps I've said too much. *evil grin*
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117

Ehh... maybe I'll leave the Beastmaster and Rogue out of it then. Although I'm tempted to retire my Rune Fencers as well, they haven't done much useful so far.
