Ceres' rambling speech continued on such bizarre topics as the dastardliness of people who cheat at sports, people who spill tea on you, and waiters who have ugly hair.

Some people started leaving, but others stayed around just for the entertainment.

Zachaia smiled, "Of course, we shall go..." She started off. She could not wait for the next day and what would surely occur.

She did quite enjoy these kinds of horrific things.

Kiera was making oatmeal at that moment. She hadn't had much time to herself lately.

The memory of Dante's possesion by the demon came back to her.

She shook her head. That was one of the most horrific things she'd yet seen... and considering she'd seen a vampyre lord going into a blood frenzy and ripping a small girl apart, that was saying a lot.

Does that fiend's perversion know no bounds?... To use one's body against ones friends... to hurt them deliberately, using one's own guise... That demonic bastard. she thought to herself, remembering Gaille's injuries.

Raize was eating some simple meat, and was dressed only in a black cotton shirt with no sleeves, and some pants. He had just gotten up, and was as bright as before, chatting with Taysa.

He was convinced that, should they get Zero Edge and destroy the demons, that everything would go back to the way it should be.

Meanwhile, Zachaia looked over at Dante, pondering on what he was thinking, he was definitely going to try to find a way to get away from her, but even if he did, that would just go exactly as planned and he would transform even earlier into the perfect vessel of Argageres.

She had to wonder what the prince was doing, and whether she could stop him. He and that sword...if they joined together not even she might be able to kill him, or perhaps even the stronger demon lords.

With Raize...

Raize finished with his meal, and looked over at Kiera, and thought a bit on what had occurred recently with her. She was definitely a believer in some form of justice, and had definitely become a risk if she intended to follow through with her threat to arrest him.

He had no intention to go quietly.

Zero Edge would be his and he and he alone would use it to save the world.

Taysa meanwhile thought to herself about Raize and how he had changed since this whole thing had began. He had become...severe. Almost ruthless. He had started to consider things and had even became ready to strike Dante down. It...frightened her.

Was this the same man she became friends with? The same one she loved? It had to be the same man, this turn in personality was for the best, she felt that it had to be, or Raize would become...less like that. Maybe it was Zoukotsu and his outside influence, or maybe it was the mountains of responsibility heaped upon him, but whatever the cause, he had definitely became different.

Or he had just grown up.

Yes, she decided to tell herself that.

She smiled at Raize, "That tasted good, huh?"

He answered with a similar smile, "Yeah...Taysa...thanks for staying with me all this while. I know its been difficult, but I am glad we've endured through it. No matter what, I know we will save everyone."

She leaned back a little, keeping her smile, "I feel confident that, if its you, Raize, then you will definitely find a way to save everyone."

Meanwhile, three people reported on the status of the city in which Sakkaku was in to a strange man with glasses.

He chuckled, and adjusted his glasses, before heading out. He had a cover ID to provide for, and these revolutionaries which had placed their trust in him were about to have their trust cut away with their lives.

He thought on how his plans seemed to always require sacrificing people for the completion of a plan, but as long as the people were unnecessary little grunts like those, then they did not matter anything. They could be disemboweled right in front of him and he would not wink. He would not even notice.

And as he vanished, he thought on how much he liked this set up. The first phase was done of plan 1, now for the corrupt police force to have their martyr and their sacrifice.

Raize sighed, lightly glaring at Kiera, "I will make it work."

Taysa could see where Kiera was coming from, but she was overinflating this whole ordeal about Dante to the levels that Raize might well have tried to assassinate the damn Eclesia.

Sakkaku and Brìghde were walking around the town. Either the parade was over or it had gotten very dull as more and more people were starting to appear and go about their business. The fact that Gandria's king would close all the businesses for a parade that did either of those things aggravated the assassin.

"How did you get here, anyway?" Brìghde interrupted the silence between them. One part of Sakkaku started to wonder why he had let her tag along with him instead of just setting a meeting place, "We were in the capitol city of the Iron Mountains when it was attacked. While we were trying to fend them off, one person was killed which caused an entity known as Argageres to crash into the city and explode for some reason. That explosion seemed to send us to different corners of Andalia. Why it didn't just kill us, I'll probably never know." Sakkaku didn't bother to look at Brìghde when he said this. He instead just kept looking forward.

"Was anyone else with you?"

"Yeah, two people. One is Brocc Meldon and the other is Ashley. They are... somewhere in the city."

“What are they like?” Sakkaku sighed, “They're okay, I guess. They're trustworthy if anything. Meldon is rather reserved, as expected really, and Ashley is... bubbly is the word for her personality I suppose. I've only known her for a day so I can't say anymore outside of that.” Brìghde hummed softly before going silent.

Day to day commerce was beginning to pick up again. Though merchants and peddlers were selling, buying, and trading again; the chances of the library opening was unlikely since those sorts of things were usually run by the government or the church. One part of the assassin told him that the day he had arrived here was a national holiday wasn't a coincidence but even then, he only planned to stay until he could get the information needed.

Maybe this town has a chronicler I can turn to, that way we could leave here today. If they don't then maybe the Guild will have something. I can't just do nothing and I don't really want to walk around with her all day. She's nice and all but I have a job to do and if I'm not around the Prince he'll probably do something stupid. The fact that that kid will one day be our king makes me fear for Andalia's future. Oh well. If things go my way, I won't be around when that-

Sakkaku's train of thought was interrupted by Brìghde speaking up again, “Why don't we get something to eat?”

“Huh?”

“Why don't we get something to eat?”

“Well... I haven't eaten in a while...” Sakkaku sighed, “Fine. Did you have any place in mind?”

“Hmm... I saw a pub not too long ago and the smell coming from it was rather nice.”

“Alright. I'm not paying for your food though.”

“I don't expect you to.”

“Good. I just wanted to make that clear.”

“Do you think I'm the type of person to take advantage of someone's kindness? It's not like you had to walk around with me or let me come with you after all,” Brìghde said with a sweet smile on her face. The assassin brushed her expression off, “I haven't been around you long enough to decide anything like that. The only thing I know is that you're somewhat talkative.”

Brìghde let out an exasperated breath, “I am not!” Sakkaku stopped just to turn around and glare at her. She seemed to shrink back slightly, “Okay... maybe a little... But you're strangely quiet!” Sakkaku started walking again, “True, but I'm not one to talk unless I have something important to say.”

“Then why talk to me?”

“Because ignoring you would be rude. I am blunt and can be sarcastic at times but I am never unnecessarily rude.” Brìghde smirked slightly. She had dealt with his kind before and it was always fun to try and get a reaction out of them. She briefly toyed with the idea of trying to get a bit of anger out of him before discarding it. What she had planned could be much harder but far more fun.

She quickly wrapped her arms around Sakkaku's while closing her eyes and leaning her head against his shoulder. As predicted, this got the usual confused “What the-?!” response but before he could do anything else she said, “You are also a very kind person. Not everyone would walk a lady around a town and have lunch with her so quickly.” The assassin let out a quick, flustered gasp as he pulled his arm away. He looked away from the lady as he tried, and failed, to fight off a blush.

“Y-yeah... W-well, don't expect this often! I told you, I haven't eaten in a while and I don't see why it matters if you eat with me or not. It's not like I'm paying for your food,” Brìghde hummed again as her lips spread into a teasingly cocky smile. That was far easier than expected but she would leave him alone for now.

The duo remained silent as they entered the pub. The smell of a rather sweet alcohol and fresh meet was the first things to hit them. The bar's décor was rather pleasing as well. All of the tables appeared to be made of a wood that, judging by the glow and the grains in the wood, had recently been polished with tung oil. First impressions is that the wood is of a good quality, given its color, but tung oil- especially if applied in several coats- gives wood a golden hue. The chances are quite likely that the wood wasn't of much value (which isn't saying much given the area) but was polished specifically to give it the pub a higher class look. There are many ways to make alcohol and meat smell good but final judgment would have to be given upon tasting them. After all, given the fact that wood is hard to come by in the desert and thus somewhat expensive, polishing it to make it look better is very common.

There were only a handful of patrons in the pub at the time. Whether this was before or after the lunch rush was unknown to the assassin but this particular pub was a bit away from the main streets where the parade was being held and while people do like to eat after lengthy gatherings like that, they would go to the closest ones leaving those that were further away to wait for those who decided to eat later or those that came here specifically for the price, quality, or tranquility. However, given the fact that there were a few stands in this area and this seemed to be one of the minor shopping streets, it was probably usually very busy at this and nearly all times of day.

The pair took a seat at an empty table as a waitress came up to them. Given that the water in these parts was usually unsanitary, they both order alcohol to drink. Specifically, the ones that had the sweet scent the smelled upon entering the building. As for food, Sakkaku didn't order much; just some meat and bread. Brìghde, on the other hand, decided to buy a special dish that combined sheep's milk, slices of apples, and goat cheese. This particular dish was usually given to those that had a fever as it combined things that were dry, warm, wet, and cold. Those four elements, along with some medicine, were thought to be the keys to combating fevers.

“You're actually going to eat that?” the assassin spoke up as he saw the dish that Brìghde ordered. “Mm-hmm. It's really good! The flavors clash in ways that make it hard to tell exactly what it tastes like.*

Would you like to try it?”

Sakkaku sat there with his chin resting on his intertwined fingers and looked thoughtfully at the strange concoction that say before him, “Hmm... Despite my better judgment, sure. Why not?” Brìghde scooped some of the dish with her spoon, trying her best to get equal parts of everything. She held her free hand under the spoon as she held it out to the assassin.

While she was doing this, Sakkaku raised an eyebrow while thinking, I could have done it myself. After all, I am neither a child nor her intimate. Despite this, he cautiously leaned forwards before sniffing it. Unsurprisingly, it smelled like apples, goat cheese, and sheep's milk. Still hesitant, Sakkaku put the contents of the spoon in his mouth. He shifted back to his original position and closed his eyes as he ate it.

“So how is it?” Brìghde asked. “It's not bad. It's something I would get only a couple of times a year for the novelty of it.”

Like a deep fried Twinkie “Oh good. I was afraid it would taste bad.”

“Wait. You-you didn't know?”

“Nope. This is the first time I've had this,” she said with a cheeky smile as she took a bite of it. The assassin's eyes widened as he started to stammer various things. Brìghde just continued to eat her meal as she watched him with the utmost amused look in her eyes. Finally being able to form a complete sentence, Sakkaku said, “Y-you used me as a lab rat?!” Brìghde responded with a nod. It looked as if he was about to go off on another stammering spree but instead he simply covered his face with his hand and sighed.

“What are you getting so worked up for? You liked it, didn't you?”

“Yeah, but- Gah. You're vexatious.”

“Thank you. I try.” For a time, there was silence as the pair simply ate. It wasn't until Sakkaku took a drink of the alcohol that the silence was broken, “You know, this is pretty good alcohol.”

“What kind is it?”

“It's probably wine as the low alcohol content would purify the water and make it harder to become drunk. What I can tell is that it has been sweetened. Probably with honey if the taste and smell is anything to go by.”

“Could it be mead?”

“Unlikely. I said it was sweetened with honey, not made from it.”

“You seem to know quite a bit about alcohol.”

“I know quite a bit about a lot of things. It helps to be well read.”

“That it does.” Silence fell between the two once again as the finished their meals.

They paid for their meals and left just as a particularly rowdy group entered the pub. Between them and the few people that were in there to begin with, Sakkaku managed to pick up that the king's speech was a gargantuan waste of time. It started out with some importance but after a few minutes of that, he took to talking about trivial and things not of consequence. This served only to infuriate the assassin further as it meant the library was closed for no good reason. The second he could get away from Brìghde, he would make sure to go the town's bureau and see if they have the information he might need.

“So, where are we going now?” Brìghde asked as the duo walked down the road. “I'm going to stop by the inn and see if any of my companions are there. Whether they are or not, I'm then going to take care of some personal business.”

“Good. I can rent a room while I'm there if I'll be needing one. Is there any chance you'll tell me what this business is?”

“Prince Raize is after a weapon called Zero Edge. If he has any sense, he should be heading to where it is located even as we speak. However-”

“You don't know where it's at.”

“Exactly. I'm going to track down the city's chronicler and ask if they know anything about it since the library is closed. If they do, we can leave today. If not, we're going to have to wait for the morrow.”

“So I should put off renting a room until tonight.”

“That would be best.”

“Would you like me to go with you to the chronicler?”

“I'd rather handle it myself, since that's what I'm used to. Besides, some festivities should still be going on and you'd probably enjoy yourself there more. Especially since you haven't been here before.”

“Alright then,” Brìghde fell silent once more as they made their way to the inn.

2175 words. That's a record for me with an RP post. Especially since this one really has no bearing on the plot whatsoever.

"If...that is what you truly wish, then I cannot refuse you."

Taysa sighed and looked to the side and as she did, she saw something glittering through the crack in the door. It looked almost like...that was when a twang went out and a single crossbow bolt ripped through the calm air. Taysa managed to use magic to push her prince from the way of the bolt.

There was the tell tale feel of magic, a feel only a Mage could pick up on, and then yet more ripped through the door, enhanced by the magic and made many by the magic used by the assailant. But this magic was somehow different from any other magic Taysa had felt in her life. It was...constantly changing, rippling, chaotic, and unstable. The source of the magic was not conventional, and so the Feel in the air was also different.

Raize managed to get his sword, and then they could see, due to the destruction of the door, the attacker. He was dressed entirely in a black hooded cloak, and seemed to be wearing a gauntlet with a crossbow built in. The bow strings were made of dark gold magic.

The attacker fled, seeming to disintegrate into black energy, but not before saying, "Prince Raize of the Andalian Kingdom, watch your friends, and beware of mirrors, which know only duplicity."

Raize was left panting, winded suddenly by the attack.

Eyes entered the lab, taking a few cages of lab rats and rabbits on his way in. He had much to do.

Quickly taking out all the components he had obtained, he decided to work on the demon blood first...

Eyes had run through 6 cages each by the time he was done. He was mildly poorer for the cost of the animals, but he'd made some progress. His new, experimental brew should prove quite effective, though at some point after refining it he would need to test it properly.

Raize got back up and breathed, "Haah...thanks Taysa, you really saved my posterior in that one...but what did he mean by mirrors? Do these guys ever make sense?"

Taysa asked Kiera, "Are you alright? It looks like his attacks did not hit anywhere near you..."

And meanwhile, something stalked through the upper parts of the buildings in Gelbuur, Capitol of Gandria, where Sakkaku and Brighde were. It consulted with that same assassin who attacked Raize's group, and the assassin looked at the huge, lion like creature with indifference. Dealing with Leon Dukarr, he knew, he had to watch out for outbreaks of its Unstoppable Rage. Any bad news, like the news he had now, since he had betrayed his faction and warned Raize against the future threat from Sangou, he needed to be careful against angering Leon.

He had already failed in that wasted Iron Mountains capitol, in deceiving those other assassins. They had not taken the bait, and this had led Leon to almost murdering him. Geist knew his options were limited, but a lie would serve him best.

As he knew very well, the creature which stood before him was strong and arrogant, and had no idea what went on outside its field of vision. So he told a very easy lie about how he had been fought off by the prince, who had been more resilient, and more intelligent, than he had thought. Though the true intellect behind his thwarting belonged to that Mage girl.

Leon made to swipe at him with one massive limb, a single iron stake hovering before his head. But Leon put it down and stalked off, "We need to make sure they all don't get back together, or our side will face difficulties in currying favor with the eventual Dread King. Such I was told. Now, I will take care of Sakkaku. You dispatch Sangou to deal with Raize."

Exactly as planned, and Geist went to do so, this should also appease his true master, who needed Raize alive and in a relatively stable sense of mind. Leon was nearing the end of his usefulness. Depending upon the result of his mission, Geist would either leave him or kill him. Either way, this whole situation had given birth to a number of factions. Some were related to the Espers, others to his third employer, Garth, and others were coated in shadows.

At any rate, plans were moving forward and Geist had no time to doddle. He vanished again in a burst of black smoke.

"Hmm, but I don't think that guy was undead or anything..."

Meanwhile...

Geist reported in the Capitol to his secondary masters, and first used a wave of his power to inspect the capitol, and upon finding the presences of some of the Prince's Nakama, he reported to the Imperial Uncle, Antony Brajan.

The man lived in the lap of luxury, though he was quite fit from numerous wars with the Morebach Separatists, he had since grown fat and his armor, which he still wore proudly every day, grew harder to put on.

He now had schemes and ambitions, where before he had been a simple man. It was largely thanks to meeting Geist and a man who seemed more monster than man. Ein something or other.

As Geist reported, he found his master in the midst of a party, and he was shooed off until Antony could shake off the crowd of women around him.

The two met nonetheless, and Antony inquired, "So, those people which had been split off from the idiot prince's group are in my capitol? Hmph, they are no concern, just tell the Night Guard to deal with them, and use the Gargoyles. I am too close to my prize to allow dullards to stand in my way."

Geist sighed and did so. His current master was a smug and conceited man, though headstrong and capable. Nonetheless, his arrogance would cost him eventually.

The gargoyles, odd monsters which seemed hodgepodges of other monsters put together, flew through the skies, cloaked from the sight of regular men while they pursued the targets - Zoukotsu, Black Knight and Jarl.

Leo meanwhile stalked through the streets and eventually found Sakkaku and the others with him. He chuckled darkly, "Well, they don't look so special...I think I'll end this quick."

He shot from his mechanical body's shoulders two canisters of consciousness confusing poison gas, and as soon as it went up, he readied two guns on his forearms full of large impaling darts. He let loose a rain of light spears into the poison gas.

"Others"? The only one with him at the moment is Brìghde. Oh well, gives me a chance to show her off some.

The crowd started to thin out the closer the duo got to the inn. By the time it was in sight, not a soul was around. Between this and Sakkaku's extreme paranoia, he was able to her what sounded like someone talking.

The assassin's instincts went into overdrive as he scanned the area. He didn't feel like he was in danger, he just needed to know where this person was just in case. He quickly found the person the person- if you could call it that- standing not to far away down one of the side streets. He was about to ignore it when it shot something at them.

The assassin's first instincts were to dodge but his training and basic logic told him otherwise. What the creature fired appeared to be two canisters they were blunt and were moving relatively slowly so that told him that there weren't meant to kill on impact (if they even reached them). He sensed nothing so he knew no magic was involved which was a good thing. Since they weren't magic and didn't seem to be made to kill or incapacitate on impact, that told the assassin that they use some kind of mechanism to either explode or release gases.

He didn't want either of those options to be near them.

Knowing he probably couldn't move out the way fast enough, he was forced to use magic. "Look out," he informed Brìghde as he thrust his right palm forward. This created a gust of wind powerful enough to blow the canisters away as they started to release gases. The wind wasn't strong enough to push the canisters right next to their attacker but pushed them far enough to make the gases the problem of their attacker.

When their attacker somehow launched a hail of arrows at them, he was about to move out of the way when he sensed magic coming from Brìghde as the ones that would hit them were stopped by a barrier. This being neither the time for place for questions, the duo ran towards the inn. Brìghde stopped right at the side of the building at the intersection and hid behind some convenient crates and drew her sword. Their attacker shouldn't be able to see her until it was too late.

Sakkaku, meanwhile, took to the rooftop of that same building. He made sure to stay low and on the other side of it so their attacker couldn't see him while he worked his way behind him. Once in a good spot on the roofs not too far behind the creature, he drew three kunai and waited for the perfect opportunity to strike.

Leo strode through the poisoned gas, having sealed off his throat when the canisters went back to him. The machine body was quite useful.

He looked after them and then kept firing his arrows at the one holding the kunai.

How much of his body is mechanical?

When the creature turned in his direction, Sakkaku ducked back. He thought it might have saw him and the arrows confirmed that. He moved back to the other end of the roof, away from their attacker. He contemplated using magic but decided against it. He didn't need it yet and there was still too great a risk of him returning to his old ways again.

Sighing, he moved back to the building that Brìghde was hiding behind, all the while making sure he was out of sight. Sakkaku pulled out three more kunai with his other hand and moved up the rooftop until their attacker came into his view. As soon as he did, he threw the kunai at it before hiding again. The first three were aimed at his chest while the other three were aimed at his legs.

Leo here is a different dimension counterpart to Leon from New Dawn. Both are mechanical chimeras, the real person lives as a battery in the stomach.

Seeing the kunais going toward the chest, it knocked them away with an arm and then it let loose a rain of needles from its mane at the assassin, while using the other arm to fire arrows at the girl.

...

The arrows hit the building and came no where near Brìghde. Okay, first: How the hell did he know I was here? Second: This guy is a special kind of stupid, she thought. She peaked around the corner for just an instant to see that he was within range. Smirking, she leaned back into her hiding place, visualized her target, and punched the air as hard as she could. About thirteen feet from where she was standing, their attacker got hit in the face with a barrier that had the same force as one of Brìghde's punches.

Meanwhile, Sakkaku, who was lamenting the general uselessness of his kunais, decided "to hell with it" and charged one of his kunai knives with magic so that it had the same properties as starsteel as well as the ability to explode if it hits dirt or clay before coming out of his cover and throwing it at the attacker's chest and getting behind cover once more. Man, what is wrong with this guy? He can see neither me nor Nadia yet he insists on shooting at us like he can still hit us. Hell, he isn't even aiming anywhere near me. Also, how many arrows does he have anyway? I wish I could store my kunai knives that easily. Even if they are mostly useless.
