Thats my problem since Kara's view ignores that the fetus isn't a part of the woman that is an unthinking mass. Sure it might be a part of her now, but it grows up to be a human being. And I can't say that its moral, given how conception happens, to leave in the hands of either the male or the female ALONE.
That said, if I wanted to be a dick I could say that the other side is just sexist which would kill off any meaningful discussion.

Well he's talking about WWII when the Chinese bomb pearl harbor and they commuted suicide by running their planes into the ship.salad, stop trying to erase the work that women do in undergoing pregnancy and childbirth. You can rant about how it takes two to conceive all you want, but the fact remains that without that female-only work, there is no baby. The man's part of the equation is comparatively trivial. I think that's what really gets the antis' goat about abortion—it is an affirmation of the hard biological fact that the lion's share of reproductive work is done on the female end, and therefore women should get the lion's share of the credit and the lion's share of the decision-making power. The reactionary patriarchs that make up the bulk of the anti-abortion movement can't handle that. They want it to be all about the man, they want to be able to say personhood is achieved thanks to what a man does during sex. The nine months of gestation and hours of labor? Oh, that's just frills. It was a person from the moment the dude shot his load.
Men get to choose whether or not to contribute the part they are able to contribute—they can choose to have sex or not to have sex, whether to wear a condom or get a vasectomy. Women likewise get to choose whether or not to contribute their part—starting with sex and birth control and ending with the arduous process of pregnancy and childbirth. That's fair. That's just. If you don't like it, take it up with Nature.
Don't call it a rant.
Also you have a pretty sexist view of relationships.
I'm not going to discuss this with you since, yeah, you tend to resort to attacking me rather than actually going after the basis of my stance, which is that they are equal partners to which you say they aren't. Okay, so you're sexist. Just against men.
Also stop saying I'm saying things that I'm fucking not. Don't strawman and don't say that I'm against women's rights.

Well he's talking about WWII when the Chinese bomb pearl harbor and they commuted suicide by running their planes into the ship.I was using Pro-Life in the sense of anti-abortion here. I don't know the gender breakdown of people who opposing abortion, the death penalty, most wars, etc., although I suspect that group is even more disproportionately female.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information. All right, can we cool it down in here, please? Karalora, I understand why you feel strongly about this, but you're being rude and dismissive. And I'd like if both sides could drop the accusations of sexism, because they really aren't helping any.

^ Is suddenly reminded of the tasteful unattackable ad the Catholic(?) Church put out on Super Bowl Sunday 2009 showing an embryo with an anti-abortion message. The character shown who it became? Barack Obama.
Also reminding me, the current rising star quarterback of the Denver Broncos Tim Tebow. His mother was advised to abort and told it wouldn't work. 20 something years later and that kid who was supposed to be aborted is quite possibly the most public friendly player in the NFL. He doesn't do drugs, he's not some cocky, uppity thug wannabe, and in person he's one of the nicest folks you meet. And a damn good QB too.
