Not for me it's not, but as long as I know it's just a bug and not intentional, I edited the Subjective Trope page to talk about the underlining.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsIf they disappear again, check Main.YMMV and do a null edit. That should fix it. Edits to the page seem to sometimes destroy the "pathway" list for that index. It is the items on that list that get the underlines.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyCross-posting from the In-page Icon thread, since I didn't find this one until later. It seems to not work for all the YMMV items like That One Boss for example. Some of the stuff in the fanspeak index is underlined too. I thought they couldn't be both. What exactly is the criteria?
And we definitely need an Administrivia page to explain this and what in-universe use of YMMV means. I don't think even the Subjective Tropes page covers that. For that matter we may want to make a headline for people who don't know we have a Subjective Tropes page.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Preferably don't do it in examples. In definitions it's okay, as long as it's not from Darth Wiki. That's exactly the kind of questions that we need that page on banners and namespaces I mentioned before for.
Edit: Picture captions can have them too, I think.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. What about potholed YMMV in Character pages ? do they break any rules, or are they fine where they are ?
And i really hope this is only a temporary change. I hope it isn't used as a aid to remove subjective Tropes fro main and character pages. There's a reason why some of them were listed there.
Your mind is a software. Program it. Your body is a shell. Change it. Death is a disease. Cure it. Extinction is approaching. Fight it.That's exactly what it's for and there's nothing wrong with that. I do hope we find something more subtle than underlining in the future though. To answer your other question Character sheets obey the exact same rules as the main article, which is to say potholes are probably not okay, though there are exceptions in rare cases.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. What about cases where potholes are used for Tropes that apply to two characters sharing a entry in a character page, such as siblings ?
For example, turning Blood Knight into Blood Knights.
Is that sort of thing okay ?
Your mind is a software. Program it. Your body is a shell. Change it. Death is a disease. Cure it. Extinction is approaching. Fight it.I'm not sure I understand the question. Blood Knight is not considered subjective at the moment and you don't need potholes to make regular plurals, that's what the curvy brackets {{ }} are for.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Assuming you don't need a very specific mod to help you, you should really just use the Holler button—it'll on average give you much faster results. Resorting to PMs to a mod for a general issue is just wasting your time, relatively speaking.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Well, in that case, shouldn't it have been "someone PM Eddie about this"? Really, though, there's no need to apologize. PMing a mod still gets business taken care of, it's just the equivalent of calling up Officer Jenkins when there's trouble instead of just phoning the police station.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I think it's a bit obtrusive, especially as it applies across the wiki.
If all references including potholes were to be banned from main-space articles then there'd be no point in having a single contiguous wiki for YMMV and non-YMMV tropes.
Underlining, unless construed as a helpful reminder, would seem to suggest the removal of all references to those tropes from the main space (not just moving bulleted references to the YMMV page). Which is not something I'd imagine advocating.
Inflexible blanket remedies are not a good approach when dealing with a site devoted to cataloguing ideas and concepts. Especially when dealing with Fan Speak terminology and the like.
If it's a helpful reminder that a passing reference links to a YMMV term, that'd be cool.
I'd use a dashed underline, so the average non-editor doesn't simply think the site is not rendering correctly, which is the first issue I had with it; but the software probably doesn't support that.

If the goal is to assist in moving them to YMMV pages, then once they're already on a YMMV page, then the underlining should go away.
“I just think that's really shady." "Shady?!" - Stephanie & Chad, The Amazing Race 17

I think this was an excellent idea, and am puzzled as to why it was suddenly removed. I have no idea how long it was up, or if it was a test run, but for those of us who missed it: all YMMV tropes had an underline under them, which makes looking for them on a page for cleanup a lot easier.
